My problem with PS4's party system.

Everyone has mics on the PS4 now. But you will mostly find that people don't talk in games. Why? Because everyone is partying up!

There is no communication and teamwork going on because guys are busy talking about netflix and life, in party

I knew this would happen, and I hate that I was right.

Anyone else annoyed by everyone not talking in games because they are more than likely using party chat?

Party chat is ruining online gaming. That's probably why I stopped playing so many online games on Live and started buying more on PC.

It really sucks. I haven't spoken to a single person since I've gotten my ps4. I remember on the 360 and OG xbox I could talk to anyone I was in a game with so easily. WTF happen? It's 10x more anti social now. I have to be friends with people before I can talk to them but how can I be friends with people if I can't talk to them?

Really seems like a big screw up imo. I hope it's not like that on xb1.

it will be because because everyone is party chatting now. Live on 360 is dead when playing games online also. I think it also matters what games you're playing also. If you play a sports titles ppl talk on Live and on PS4. People do talk on Warframe each time I get on but I have to say something first.

lol this is really disappointing. Half the reason I wanted to get back into consoles was for my awesome online experiences I had in the past but it seems like that is dead now. Seriously, whoever thought of this needs to be shot.

Party chat is a double edged sword. You guys are just going to have to do your best and try and make friends with who ever may be in your game chat. I've already accepted one friend request from a random gamer in Killzone. So its possible. I know its more difficult to make new online friends when most are in party chat but give it time and reach out to people.I haven't checked yet myself but does the PS4 list recent players you gamed with? If so then shoot out some friend request to them and see how it goes.

Well I don't have a PS4 but... remember KZ3??? We had a clan there filled with TXB-OCD guys which was headed by Cutting(Valliance)..

Why can't you guys just make a UnionVGF group and play together like we used to do in KZ3?
Valliance would just set a time in the forum and we'd just pop on to join the game.

Hmmmm.......Party chat >>>>>Random children ( even adult children) swearing, shouting, breathing very heavy in to mic, racists remarks from no where, Music, talking smack that isn;t actually smack and is just r******d...etc.

The community in mag was great. Anyone who had a Mic actually talked strategy and it allowed me to meet and grow a clan with well over 100 people. But now i see that May not be so easy on these consoles.

Then the games have no community then. Just random silent players. That's sad somehow
If the experience of hearing others was enjoyable and not laden with teenagers saying the "N" word every second or screaming and yelling I would have the headset on. Sadly, that's never going to happen. Well, things may have changed. It's been two years at least since I've turned game chat off.

You know what's funny, those with mics who don't speak but let the random noise from their house flow through. Yeah, like I really want to hear your baby crying and background chatter from the folks there. Mute that sh!t, lol.

Never had the issue with racists and screaming kids on PS3. Party chat is dumb as hell in game.

Back in the day it used to be great. People used to chit chat in a mature manner all the time in game.Hell, I even played games (Halo 2)I didn't care much for just cause it was so chilled and laid back. Even right at the start of the current gen it was still common occurrence to be online playing and chatting with mature folk, but some where this gen it just went to crap. No clue where or why. People can blame party chat for ruining online gaming all they want but in truth it is the gamers that ruined it. Party chat was a godsend IMO.

Some of the most fun I had was in Gears of War. I met cool ass people in a random game and we talked and hit it off and I we even ended up creating a clan and having a great time. Seems impossible now. I don't even know how people can prefer this new system.

If I go into a room of Killzone and talk is it possible for people to hear me? is there even a chat system in place? or is it ONLY party chat?

party chat is the best thing for you guys, XBOX 360 been had that and made the game experience far better. No more a******s talking s***, just you and your buddies having a good time.

There is a chat system in place. But when people go into party chat, they are muted from game chat. Then can switch from party to game at any point. Which is what i do.

You are never going to have that small OG Xbox like community ever again. It's sad and will be missed, but this is just how things are now.

It will most likely get better, ify ou give it some time - we're just on first week after launch in one territory, and people are now trying many different games on short period of time.
As soon as you get more friends to populate the what's new screen you can probably follow likeminded people easier into the various games via party-chat, and also when people aren't trying so many different games, and want to spend more time with one game.
On various launch-games there's probably hit and miss on what's open chat, I heard a baby crying in Giantbomb when they started up Need 4 Speed, and people seemed to migrate nicely between matches there, so I guess that's open chat all the time - and Sony will keep improving the party-system. :)

Man I found need for speed online to be pretty weird. It's so hard to catch people as a cop lol. At least I heard someone talking though. Some guy was talking to his son lol.

Yeah XBL went downhill once party chat got really popular.

It doesn't really make sense to me.. if you are gaming with a group of people.. and you are staying on the same server.. why does it matter if people can hear you or talk to you?

And no, it isn't better than obnoxious people.. obnoxious people can be muted.. you can't un-mute party chatters. I never had anywhere near the problems people report with racist remarks or music blaring.. pop into the menu, mute.. done.

Party chat is definitely a double edged sword. Great for shooting the s*** with friends. Terrible for general online gaming. I can remember as far back as playing Gears of War 2 and nobody communicated because they were in party chat with friends. No communication on that game and you're in for a rough time. Especially against a team of friends that are communicating and giving away your location to their friend when they're already dead and shouldn't be able to voice chat to them.
