New AAA Xbox first party games will launch at $70.00, still on game pass day one.

He did say that this won't last forever, but will keep it the same during the holidays. Changes nothing, I mean games will always go on sale and deals. I am okay with gamepass going up in price withwhat they been buying, not including a family pack we can have.

I see a landscape changing again and setting for next gen stuff.
Next gen seems so far away, and with how few games are taking advantage of current gen consoles I feel we may not get a mid gen refresh anytime soon or at all…. Since, well, not everyone that wants one has one.

Yeah but if you are subbed mainly for day one games you've gotten ripped off over the last 4 years.
I don't feel ripped off and no one should. You only have to look at the extensive catalog of games available on Gamepass to see why. There's a lot of third-party offerings on the service, MSFT kind of has to with its anemic amount of first party games. Point is, there's a lot of variety to make up for MSFT's shortcomings on Gamepass.

Copied shamelessly from Gamerant. Just saying that there are a lot of games on there. Then take into account all the non-Day One games, GP member exclusive discounts, etc. - it's a good value even with 2022 the way it was.

Based on the ABK docs 2028 seems to be what Sony and MS are anticipating for the next gen of systems.

Yeah. That list is incomplete too.

I have no problem forkin' over $70 for a big, AAA exclusive game if it looks like something I'll enjoy. The question is when is xbox going to start releasing those with any sort of regularity? Right now the only xbox exclusive I know of that fits that bill and has at least a release window is starfield.

Starfield, Redfall and Forza are all really next year releases.

2 people trying to gloat/celebrate £70 games for plastic Wars.
It's a justified raise in price, I find it funny that people who knocked it when everyone else did it all of the sudden think it's ok. Not putting that on anyone here but that's the reaction online.

Two of them were originally this year releases (supposedly) and would have been $60, funny how the delay made them more complicated and expensive to make lol. Seriously though the price hike is justified, games do cost more to make and people pretending they don't are fooling themselves.

I mean reality is reality. Them having to deal with rising costs is one. I can hardly get mad or blame them.

As far as gamepass goes, there will be a threshold on price people are willing to pay. If Ms doesn't get it right people will leave the service and they'll lose money.

As far as the s*** talking? Who cares? That's always going to be a thing' be it Bots or Ponys...
I don't blame them for the price hike I just wish they'd stop talking out of both sides of their mouth. When you aren't actually putting out product it's easy to talk big about "value" etc but when you are actually (hopefully) going to start releasing some games and decide to raise the price then it just shows who you really are, again this isn't bad it just shows they aren't better than anyone else.

In the past year and a half, at our corporation (Hilton Corporation, I am a controller), we nearly doubled all of the hourly wages for employees at thousands of our hotels and restaurants, and close to 25% increase for management because of the market. All of our product cost is up 20% on average for rooms and for the restaurants. In turn to offset that, we have had to increase our room rates (ADR) to offset that. But a substantial amount.

So I can see that companies need to charge more to offset the rise in costs this past year or two, including labor, product, R&D.

This is more of a general statement, not specific to Starfield.

More importantly, people concerned with $70 games from Microsoft would probably be better off just subbing to Game Pass. You can just get a month pass for $15 and play a couple $70 games. Or you can pay $120 for the entire year and play all the $70 games they have, as well as all the third party games.

I will be paying $70 because I don't do subscriptions. But I do have the choice.

I'll never pay full price for a game again. I look back at when I was a puppy and paid $70 for Strider, Phantasy Star II & III and even $80 for that piece of crap Street Fighter II - Omega Supreme Ultra Turbo Edition. I'll be playing games 6 months late from now on, unless I can find a deal on ebay.

I paid $100 for Virtua Racing on the Sega Genesis.

I'm not paying £70 for a game either. If it isn't on Game Pass or PS+ Extra day 1 then I'll wait until these games are on sale for £40.

I will check out redfall assuming I still have gamepass at that point, but I'm not committed to 'day one' buy it at this point. I've zero interest in racing games so Forza is a hard pass. I'm not sure when my current subscription to gamepass expires, maybe April I think, but tbh in all the time I've had gamepass I have not taken much advantage of it. My gaming preferences have certainly narrowed over the years I suppose.

So take advantage of it and try new things.
