New KOTOR (Knights Of The Old Republic) Reboot?

Don't know why this rumor is getting more traction than the hundreds of other ones. One could argue that perhaps this means there's more to this particular instance.

But that's how they get you

maybe because they (Disney) are working on something live action???

With CDPR and and Obsidian busy, I don't know another studio I would trust to remake KOTOR. Certainly not Bioware anymore.

Remedy would be an interesting one but I think they would want to do that even less than Disney would want them to.

They’d end it as soon as any creative differences arise...would be cool though, they got powers and environmental manipulation down to a T

It’s sad to see a once great developer fall.

Yeah. I never even thought about trying anthem and for almost two full decades the BioWare name equated to an instant buy in my book.

I tried the beta. It was average at best. Dragon Age was their last RPG I was pumped for. I didn’t stick with not because it was a bad game... it was so deep I just had a hard time putting in the hours that game deserved.

Another day, another Star Wars game rumour, only this one reports that a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game is in development by a studio outside of EA's assortment of first-party developers.

Bespin Bulletin of the B.O.B. The Podcast reports someone privy to the details reckons "we'll never guess" what studio is at the helm, and insisting that development is "not with EA".

"Amongst my digging, I heard there is a Knights of the Old Republic project in development somewhere," Bespin Bulletin said (thanks, VGC). "I talked to a couple of people, and I also found out that [Bloomberg reporter] Jason Schreier said that it's not with EA, and we'll 'never guess' who the studio is that's making this game."

"I don't know if the bounty hunter game is with them or if it's with Ubisoft," Bulletin added. "But yeah, EA is working on stuff and there's another unannounced [Star Wars] game at EA, which I have no idea what it is. I don't think it's Battlefront 3."

EA is stupid... All they had to do is have Bioware Remake the first KotOR (Plus improve upon the gameplay) and it would have printed too much money

Well, I stopped supporting EA long ago anyways... I sure hope Ubisoft will do Star Wars far better than EA did

Developer Aspyr is creating a remake of the original Knights of the Old Republic, and the developer showed the first teaser during the PlayStation Showcase today.

The game will be a PS5 console exclusive at launch. Regarding a PC version, nothing has been indicated for the moment.
"The teams at Aspyr and Sony Interactive Entertainment have teamed up with Lucasfilm Games to bring you a remake of this cult Star Wars adventure.
We are recreating one of the greatest RPGs of all time for a new generation with technology, modern features and graphics, while staying true to the story and the characters we cherish "

The studio brought together "veterans who worked on great RPGs (...) as well as some of the original Knights of the Old Republic development team."

Rebuilding from the ground up like Demon's Souls.

Glad the game is getting made but disappointed at the exclusivity. Wouldn't suck as much if the game released on the PC at the same time a la Deathloop. But this is looking early more and more like a Final Fantasy 7 remake type deal.

I think it's kind of cool they are going the Demon's Souls route.

This is another game that I never played and I am looking forward to experiencing it like how I did with Demon's Souls remake.

I wonder how long for the “launch” exclusive before it hits Xbox? I want this

It's coming to PC.

... but I thought nobody wants to play the old games anymore!

Anyway, annoying when something that started exclusive on 1 platform goes to the other, no matter which 1. That said, I will get a PS5 for this, along with PSVR2, so it's not like I won't be playing it. Still annoying to see SW going exclusive lately (Oculus getting 1-year deals on Vader Immortal and Tales from Galaxy's Edge)
