I think I can get away with a quick one off-topic thing here.

Anandtech is done.

The site will remain up apparently but no more new content.

So...........where do you all get your tech news? Sorry to insert this in here as yeah, it's sort of off topic but I feel like it's a good question to ask.

I still pop onto Tom's Hardware here and there. I'm not serious into it, but it's good to pop into a tech site here and there to be semi up to date.

Youtube.com

Youtube.com
Nah I'm talking about headline news and articles that just keep me up to date, and then I can go from there if I'm interested in said news and dive deeper.

But not some flashy site that's got a bunch of other crap going on. Not sure if that you understand or not?

Youtube.com (if you sub to the right sources) is still my choice or Gaf...

Just order my gaming laptop since 2012 on Amazon for about 950€

MSI Katana 15" RTX4060

Its a "budget" gaming laptop, & supposedly plasticy (flimsy) & not good battery life, but I will use it only in my travels in hotel etc or at home watching Tv while doing some writing & other works, mostly plugged. And for the price, I cannot be too fussy.

I have a more powerful 3 screens desktop workhorse setup for regular use.

MSI Katana 15 B13VFK-1672IT, 15,6 Zoll FHD 144Hz, Intel i7-13620H, Nvidia RTX 4060 GDDR6 8GB, 1TB SSD PCIe4, DDR5 16GB, WiFi 6, Win11 Home

I got my laptop. YOu can tell its not a high end model. The previous one I have (2012) is more premium in build but cost double (over 2000€), so I am not complaining.

However, the PC keyboard is Italian.....Took me a while to find out, trying to match the keys to image on internet. Finally I released the keyboard info must be on the box, & that is where I found out.

Now I can type Italian letters I never used in my life non even know existed, while not able to type German letters (ö ä ü ß ) directly.

Unfortunately I need to travel in a week time, & it will defeat the whole point of this laptop if I returned and not made it back in time for my travel.

I mainly used it for gaming, & some writing (for my book. mainly in English) so shouldn't matter as much , & the layout is very similar to English layout QWERTY.

So I did a thing. Upgraded my old 3070 with a new Black Friday deal.

Intil i9-14900f
Nvidia 4080 Super
64gb of RAM

Alienware/Dell. Was on sale 1999, or about $2500 with a 3 year warranty. I know... build your own... This was cheap and easy.

Why intel? Congrats but I ask in a concerned way.

I was concerned about the intel bug, but it sounds like it was fixed with a software update. I went with the 3 year warranty just for that reason too.

I'm hoping Dell/Intel aren't still selling bugged chips this many months later.

I'm think of upgrading to something close to this. Wondered where you bought yours.

My current gaming computer is a 2017 RoG STRIX Laptop with GeForce GTX 1060

A main hobby / gaming interest this will before revolves around VR and VRChat. I already have a Valve Index.

Incidentally related to this doing projects in Unity making avatars and hope to eventually make VRChat worlds.

Just wondered if anyone had recommendations on where to buy or what brand?

My laptop is ASUS and it's run well. How is Alienware? I hear mixed opinions on them.

Took some days of research, did look at the diffferent parts and did read what peoples opinions was on them, so often when I though that I had found what I was looking for found that was some complains about then so had to start researching more about, did google search a lot to find the best deals when I had found something that I was satisfied with, as I use to get the best deals showing up with a google search here when I got what I am looking for.
Also watched youtube comparisoned videoes to see how well the graphic cards did.

My old computer was GTX 1080 so was time for an upgrade, did last longer than normally do with that, was a good card.

Went and ordered this. Main use will be for VR.
