New Switch? OLED Baby, Preorders Go Live At 12pm PST In The States

Its possible especially with all the scratched screens from the Switch base design(which needs a redesign)
Plus the fact that a upgrade would be kinda early but optional.

Maybe, but it seems like a stretch, to say this means they're preparing the ground for a reboot. It could just be a FAQ issue they need to cover.

Definitely do not fit Nintendo, they usually do things their own semi consumer unfriendly way. Still, a switch with an oled/amoled screen? I'd buy it day one, trade in or no trade in. Honestly don't need any higher res, play my switch in handheld mode 90% of the time, 720p is enough for my eyes at that size.

Nintendo has offered upgrades in the past.. That red extra memory boost thing for n64 and the extra analog for 3ds comes to mind.

^a oled screen? Oh heck no i don't want that burn in tech.

More ram,faster cpu/gpu that i want.
I hope they do this cause dust is thick.

Amoled on most good to great phones today, burn in not a big problem, also said it before; ps vita didn't have a problem with this on even a small scale.

I have burn in on my Samsuck phones and I never even run torch mode as its a battery killer.

Okay then, you clearly use your phone differently than most or had bad luck... maybe a switch with amoled isn't for you, that's fine. It's a stunning technique though, the LCD screen on the switch is a bit too flat imo, especially as I'm on samsung phones. Even playing the switch docked on my fald samsung LCD is lightyears better when it comes to colors and black levels, only thing that make me play it on TV at times.

Most use torch mode. So if they keep the phone long enough its happening.
Its inherit to its organic tech.

Lol, Nintendo is like Apple. They know people will buy their stuff. I'd be shocked if they did a trade up. Some stores may do it, but I highly doubt Nintendo would. They'll release 4 different versions of the Switch and expect everyone to re-buy them.

I've had:

Galaxy S3
Galaxy S4
Note 4
Galaxy S7
Currently have Note 9

and I have never once experienced burn in on any of these phones.

Reggie seems to hint that a Switch remodel won't happen any time soon, although maybe "a bit later in the life cycle."

"Recently, Reggie Fils-Aimé of Nintendo recently commented on the status of a model revision for the Nintendo Switch. As we know, there has been talk of a new model of the console coming sometime next year.

“Right now, as we go into our second holiday, my focus is making sure the current grey and neon Switch continue to have momentum in the market place,” he said.

“You saw systems, whether it’s our own or competitive home console systems, utilize that tactic a bit later in the life cycle.

So right now, the current execution of Nintendo Switch with the Joy-Con and all of the capabilities, that’s our focus right now.”

Yeah but he also claims red dead 2 isn't on switch because the console was released too late into the games development.

Guy talks s***.

He seems to be saying "don't expect it next year." That's my takeaway, anyhow. He's referencing Sony and MS's pattern, so that would put the Switch upgrade at around 3 or 4 years into the lifecycle (whereas next year would just be 2) -- so 2020 or 2021.

What exactly is in the dock that boosts the systems capabilities? And if they do eventually introduce a mid gen system, could they really
pack the dock with goodies?

Doesn't it just give it extra power supply and that upclocks cpu? Would kill battery if in portable mode? I might remember it wrong, digital foundry have an article but I'm too lazy atm

Also, rdr2 of course could run on a switch... it wouldn't look good, prob look awful, but I can't see any mechanics in the game that wouldn't be possible on switch. Just cut down severely on every part of the graphics until it runs okay. Maybe like pc in potato mode.

The graphics are a big part of why the game works so well as a package, it just wouldn't be right on the switch even if they were able to get it to run somehow.

Might be able to get it looking like the first RDR... Might look like Arc survival on switch

I had a note 8 that caught some burn in. Thankfully I got it replaced for free. Haven't had the problem with my new phone (also Note 8 ), but I am careful to use full screen frequently. The burn in last time came in the form of the top third bein brighter (where the YouTube app shows in vertical), and slightly dim pixels for half the screen. I had no problems at all with my Notes 4 and 5.
