Hmm, could they finally kill off the DS with this? Would suck if the controllers are fixed, cos how would you play BoTW’s dungeons but I guess you could turn that off when docked, already.

That is the people they are aiming for.
I wasn't for this model BUT if it's small enough I might bite as the Switch is way 2 big to be taken on the go.

I was hoping for the other rumour to be true, the Switch Pro or whatever, before finally getting a Switch but looks like its not happening...Astral Chain, amongst others might make me finally get one...

"In Thursday’s AGM, Furukawa was also asked about the multitude of media reports regarding the potential release of redesigned Nintendo Switch hardware.
The president acknowledged the reports and said that in general, the company always has new hardware in development.
“We acknowledge that there have been reports [about this]. Answering to rumours and speculations would end up stealing surprises from our customers and also be unprofitable to all of our shareholders, so we have no answer to that.
“As a general theory, we are always performing development of new hardware.”

Did someone say it supposed to be no larger than the switch without the joycons on???

How big is a 2ds vs a 3ds, current models??

Anyone else hoping they release different coloured variants? Please no rose gold :p

When reports emerged of a lower-cost Nintendo Switch that wouldn't have detachable Joy-Con controllers and couldn't plug into a TV, my son had one question. What's the point of a Switch that doesn't Switch? Good question. But that's exactly what Nintendo is releasing on Sept. 20. The Nintendo Switch Lite is handheld-only and costs $200. (UK and Australian pricing is yet to be announced, but that converts to £160 or AU$290.) That's $100 less than the original Switch and also shrinks the previous model down a bit, with a 5.5-inch, 720-pixel screen. But it also ditches TV connectivity via USB-C, and no longer has detachable rumbling controllers.

It'll also be the only new Nintendo Switch hardware this holiday, as Bowser says the larger Switch won't get an upgrade right now.

I don't understand the point honestly. The Switch was already a mobile capable device. I'd rather have a home console only version with more power.

Nintendo just announced a smaller, cheaper version of the Switch today, but the Switch Lite may not be the only trick up Nintendo’s sleeves — the originalNintendo Switch is also getting a new processor and new flash storage chips, according to filings with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The new chips could mean fewer slowdowns, faster load times, longer battery life, less heat... or perhaps none of these things.

At least it’s not all digital, then it’d be sad :p

It might as well be. Aren't some of the games bigger than the cartridges, where you have to download the rest of the game? I thought I remember seeing that mentioned for the last WWE game.

Yeah, from what I can recall it seems most of those games were multiplayer games and you’d have to download that aspect of the game
