Next Gen(XB/PS) Zen 2/Navi

Recently, we sat down for an interview with Luis Correa, founder and creative director at C2 Game Studio, currently working on the upcoming Project Monolith, and when we asked him about his biggest expectation from next gen from the perspective of a developer, he was most intrigued by ray traced rendering.

“Ray traced rendering will open up interesting opportunities for rendering fidelity,” said Correa. “We’ll have to see to what extent the next gen consoles will be able to support it. Will the next God of War use ray traced rendering and set a direction for the industry? Or will it only be used by small experimental games? Only time will tell.”

So, your saying....

We recently spoke to Traxler in an interview, and eventually asked him about his thoughts on the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett’s SSDs, and how he thinks they might improve performance of games. According to Traxler, while games such as his own Exception might not be affected as much, seeing as they’re level-based games that load in almost all assets upfront, other titles, such as open world ones, will benefit from SSDs greatly.

“I think we’re going to see SSDs have the biggest impact on open world titles that constantly stream textures and models into a scene,” Traxler told GamingBolt. “Level-based games like Exception may see less of a benefit from SSDs, since most of the assets are loaded up-front and the load times are already brief. I’m sure that developers will come up with some great new uses for SSDs once these become standard in consoles. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes.”

Inti Creates president Inti Creates president Takuya Aizualso argued that the success of the new consoles – which are both set to arrive in 2020 – will depend heavily on their exclusive titles.

“I think it might be pretty tough [for new consoles] because at this point in time exclusivity is dying,” he told VGC. “There are a lot of games coming out on multiple platforms and even if they don’t at first, they get ported to other platforms later on.

“So when these companies put out new consoles I think one of the most important things for them is going to be how many exclusives they can have at their launch, because if they don’t have those then the chance that they’re going to have a failed launch is going to be pretty high I think.

“The other thing that will determine the new consoles’ fate is the precedent that Nintendo Switch set,” he added. “it does something new that no system can or has done.

“So whatever these new systems are, they’re going to need to offer an experience that you can only have by owning it. I think that, especially with the precedent that Nintendo Switch has set, that uniqueness is more important than ever now.”

Will this be the first gen where a new GTA title isn’t released/premiered...anyways

"We have a new console generation coming, and that's going to allow us to do some things that we haven't been able to do before creatively, and that's exciting," said Zelnick while speaking to CNBC's Jim Cramer. "But as I've said before, we are going to reach a point where you won't be able to tell the difference between what's created in the computer and what's real."

I don't know if anyone else already posted this, I haven't seen it and this was the first I've heard of it but Ubisoft's games Watch Dogs: Legion, Gods and Monsters and Rainbow Six: Quarantine along with two unannounced games will all be launching on current gen AND next gen consoles. I'm looking forward to the new watch dogs so I'm glad to see we'll get a next gen upgraded version.

"The five titles will be on this generation and next generation of consoles, and they will take full advantage of all the new features that are coming with the machines," Guillemot said, as reported by IGN. "Which are actually going to be extremely interesting for players, as you'll be able to download new content a lot faster. Players will experience better framerate, so there are lots of very good elements that will come with those new machines."

Sony actually confirmed the PS5 will support 8K gaming back in October, where it also confirmed the PS5 would have an 8-core, 16-thread Zen 2 CPU as well as an RDNA-powered GPU (likely a second-gen Navi GPU because of native ray tracing support). "Up to 8K resolution output for games," reads the post.

Likely all next gen machines/GPU's will do HDMI 2.1 support.
