Microsoft’s Next-Gen Xbox Console Already in the Works
Microsoft inadvertently confirms that its PS6 rival and Xbox Series X/S successor is already in the works and has a codename.

No chance they release the Xbox 5 to compete with the Playstation 6. That's an immediate marketing disaster. It's the whole reason they started with Xbox 360 instead of Xbox 2 to compete with PS3.

The next-generation Xbox got another big reveal last week, with a first look at a new piece of hardware and a name: Xbox Series S.
The Xbox Series S — and its more powerful and more expensive counterpart, the Xbox Series X — is part of the fourth generation of Xbox consoles from Microsoft, following the original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
It's quite a list of names, especially compared with the simplicity of Sony's PlayStation line, which starts with the PlayStation 1 in 1995 and runs through to the PlayStation 5, scheduled to be released in 2020.
And that's why Microsoft is streamlining the naming conventions: Going forward, it's just Xbox.
"The name we're carrying forward to the next generation is simply Xbox," a Microsoft representative told Business Insider earlier this year. More than just simplifying the name, it also allowed "room for additional consoles in the future."
With two new next-gen Xbox consoles on the horizon, the Series S and the Series X, that subtle naming change makes more sense than ever.
The strategy was first hinted at when the Xbox Series X was first shown in late 2019. There was something particular about the way that Microsoft revealed the name of the console:

Upon closer inspection, it appears that "Xbox" is the make and "Series X" is the model — as if the name going forward for Xbox consoles is simply "Xbox."
That was, in fact, the intent — however subtly it was conveyed.

I remember my first adult movie, anyway I barely got my next gen console warmed up and we already talking about the next…
So is the mid - gen refresh update coming or not. And If so, is it the mid mid gen update since XSX IS the mid gen model as per Phil lol
I think that I’m this case they “the speculators” are referring to next gen.
But, from what was leaked are just slim version, or in this case cylindrical, of the s and x.
My guess, maybe it’s a test bed into how small they could shrink the s so that the next gen version the s will be portable, maybe it’ll be open to having more than one store on it besides the Xbox store and allow steam and epic to have native apps, especially so they look good to the eu and cma.

Then we see the court leaks of the refresh series (what many are assuming) x, but diskless. And yet the leak did state/list refreshes for both series s and x.
The leak lead the world to believe it’s just a new cylinder chassis of the x. But what if Phil was telling the truth, with a bit of out of context word play. That console concept variant we saw was really the new s.
The new series x would be a beefed up x in a new form factor and include all those qol updates/upgrades, and still have a discdrive, while we wait for 2030 for the next gen to arrive….Or am I just crazy?
