Nintendo Super Thread of General Discussion

Ugh, I gave up on Majora's Mask. I didn't enjoy replaying areas, dungeons, and bosses just to collect everything. and I hate being pressured with a time limit. Even with the slow time song.

So I traded it in for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. Loving it so far.

I got Mario Party 3DS from the Nintendo Club free since I reached Elite Platinum Status.

They had some other good choices but I already owned them.

Be sure to check Club Nintendo to see if you qualify. I think this offer ends around the end of the month.

Not sure which is worse. Spelling it wrong or having Waluigi rape a poor Wiggler.

I always tell myself I'll finish Majora's Mask, if only out of my love for Ocarina of Time. I never took to the darker tone and the strangely challenging and bottlenecked nature of the environments. I see lots of praise for the game in Nintendo enthusiast threads, but nothing ever swayed me.

I got a little bit further than fighting some giant goat and just stopped playing. The whole thing felt like a perversion of Ocarina of Time and turned everything I loved about that game upside down.

Been playing Super Mario 3D World this weekend. Such an amazing game. Wouldn't expect anything less from a Mario game.

We're getting pretty close to a new Pokemon game announcement. They have already shown off some new Pokemon over in Japan.

I cannot believe the Pokemon fad hasn't worn off yet.

Man, I've just lost it for Nintendo.

My brother brought his Wii-U with him on vacation. He picked up an extra controller and Mario Kart just so we could play together with our significant others. I was excited to play Mario Kart, myself, and to try out Smash Bros.

I played a bit of Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and That Zelda-Dynasty Warriors game. I've lost all interest in picking up a Wii-U.

I had always planned on getting one for Mario Kart, but after playing it for a bit, I can't say it grabbed me. I love the visuals, but it was just boring, and frustrating with the lack of momentum-based physics and constant start/stop that happens when randomly hit by an attack. Yuck. Just killed it.

Smash Bros was a total miss for me as well. It's not totally surprising as the game has never appealed to me in the past, but I WAS surprised at how much lag there is between the button press and the action. It felt very unresponsive to me, and It didn't make sense in the sense that It wasn't animation based. It was also tough to keep track of my character.

I did have some simple, mindless fun with the Zelda game, but I could definitely see it wearing thin after a bit. Not enough depth to the combat for me.

I don't mean to poo-poo anyone's taste or love for Nintendo's machine, but I wanted to share my experience, and I couldn't think of anywhere else to put it. Sorry for the downer. I guess the Big N has just lost it's magic for me :(

I really dig this 3DS. I think I'm going to return it though because I want the Zelda one coming out at the end of Oct. Still, I already bought Zelda LBW, Majoras Mask, Zenoblade and Bravely Default. and can't wait for the holidays so I can get some good time in on some (apparently) amazing JRPG fun.

Pokémon as a game series, is far from a fad.

The IP did seem very fad-like in the late 90s/early 00s because of how massive it was, as a whole multimedia, merchandising and entertainment behemoth, and the fact that the fact that its main fans were kids, but the game itself is a rock-solid and unique RPG concept.
It's not going away any more than Dungeons & Dragons is going away.

I'm not even a fan of Pokémon or Dungeons & Dragons, that's just the reality of it.
I cannot believe the Pokemon fad hasn't worn off yet.

I'm back baby. After 4 months of dust collecting I finally turned on the console last night. Looking at finally getting around to Super Mario 3D World and spending more time in Splatoon.

This may be old news, but I just read yesterday that an HD version of Zelda: Twilight Princess is coming to the Wii U -- or at least, it looks pretty likely. It's one more reason to own a Wii U (still not enough for me, though).

"The NUS database, which is the official database listing for all games on the Wii U, has Twilight Princess HD specifically mentioned with a proper identification code. The only way it could have been listed is if Nintendo intentionally put it there. Technically, this is isn't an announcement or full confirmation, but every other title that has appeared in the NUS database has come to fruition eventually. Without an official confirmation or trailer from Nintendo we naturally can't quite go all the way into saying "it's happening", but I forgive you for feeling that way. The official listing reads "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA Twilight Princess HD" with the region listed as "Japan".

Also, Skyward Sword is coming to the virtual console:

Twilight Princess is confirmed. There is a pretty cool Amiibo bundle with Wolf Link and Midna. I played the game a bit on the Wii but never beat it before getting rid of the console. I'd like to see Skyward Sword redone as well but probably not likely unless it's late next year. The original Legend of Zelda is the one I've played the most of, otherwise aside from a bit of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD I haven't played any. It's always been on my list though to do so.

I got my son a Wii U for Christmas (Splatoon/Smash Bros bundle for $250) and I'm pleased with the purchase. That little sucker got some great games besides the games in the bundle for a new console:

Mario Maker
Batman Arkham Armored Edition

The gamepad is a neat concept I believe. When I'm watching football my son can continue playing his games which is neat. The backwards compatibility feature is cool and always has been. I gotta fire up Resident Evil 4 Wii edition and check it out.

My biggest surprise about the console is no Super Mario Galaxy 3. Maybe they are saving it for the NX?

Any Zelda/Nintendo fans should check out Zeldathon going on right now on Twitch. Been watching it for a few hours today and a few more hours last night. Good stuff, and can donate to a good cause. Also they have some cool Zelda shirts available at Yetee.

I'm officially onto the next episode of Nintendo. I gave my Wii U and library to my baby nephews. I just wasn't playing it much at all anymore.

Hopefully NX is the Nintendo console I've been waiting for.

As I'm playing Fire Emblem Fates on my 3DS I can't help but wonder why Nintendo does put some of its handheld games on their console. Fire Emblem and Pokemon would be great console titles.
