EA and Tiger Woods have parted ways. EA has been transitioning away from Woods for the past couple of years. Once they secured the Masters it was only time until Woods would be off the cover... Like he was last year. The endorsement fee was probably something EA no longer wanted to pay and with no other golf games on the market there's no competition. They get to save money from the Woods endorsement contract while still sell the same amount units.

EA SPORTS golf fans have always loved authentic courses and players, but they've also asked for more choice and customization in how and where they play. We're working on a new approach to deliver the best golf experience to our fans — we think you'll love it, and so we’re excited to share the first screenshot of our next generation golf game currently in development.

EA SPORTS and Tiger Woods have also made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger's named PGA TOUR golf game. We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.

Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong.

EA SPORTS is committed to creating a new golf experience that leverages the best technologies across EA to deliver a stunning and immersive game for mobile and next generation consoles.

We'll have more news soon.

If it frees him up for Grand Theft Tiger, that would be awesome. Crashing cars into trees and nailing portly waitresses is the next gen experience we're all craving.

I'd be interested in a next-gen golf game. That could be very good, if they took the time to do it right.

I finished TW '09 a while ago. I bought it on a lark, because I felt like a golf game. It was too easy on normal, but I think that's a common complaint. The announcer commentary was often late or just wrong. But it was nice to be out on some virtual golf courses. They are always pretty. I find it's a relaxing change of pace from most gaming, although there are still tense moments.

I hope Tiger doesn't go bankrupt without this check.

I could care less if they have his name on it or not. The game engine is junk.

Like most EASports games it is built for the lowest common denominator up. What I mean by that is they take a crappy, easy game that allows any brainless twit to play like a god and then artificially try to make it challenging for everyone else. It doesn't work and this is why every EASports game feels hollow after a week.

EA needs to look at a game like Forza and how the developers have approached it - build a strong, challenging engine as the base, then layer assists on top to make it so the immediate gratification crowd can feel cool.

Um, that sounds almost exactly like FIFA?

I knew this was coming sooner or later. He is not the dominate force he once was. And to be honest EA's golf games have not been that great in years. Golf is one of my favorite things to play in real life. I really hope they bring some change and give us a true next gen golf game.

Or another dev steps to the plate.

A return to the name when EA made good golf games ? I really hope EA put in real effort for this next gen Golf experience.

Am I the only one that thinks the picture look more like current gen (360/PS3), vs last gen (PS2/OG XBOX ). I am sure this isn't meant to be a graphical powerhouse of a game, & not affect the gameplay in any way, but its just my visual observation.

I am not into golf, but hope it play well, for people that like the game.

It actually looks like a vast improvement. The Lighting especially looks great. I am no expert on this stuff but it seems to be rocking some kind of Ambient occlusion and post processing effects. The reflections also look great and the overall detail looks nice.

Like FIFA? FIFA is the same as Tiger, flashy engine without any real substance underneath. Its not grounded in reality or layered with real strategic brains - its a hollow shell built to hold glitter together with no way to introduce challenge beyond cheap tricks and artificial blindfolds.

While I agree it does look better than current gen, I am NOT finding it impressive at all. I think I would expect more realism. It still looks cartoony.

The next gen version appears to have the Loch Ness Monster in the water - quite the upgrade indeed!

Pics look like a solid improvement to me. And that even excludes the obvious lake effect. The greens. people, flowers all look much better.

Though it is golf. There's only so much more whiz-bang visuals you can do with a slow paced game with people standing around surrounded by greens, sand traps and trees.
