So am i. So don't think i have a personal vendetta against Sony and the PS4. I'm just stating the facts. People here will tell you that i'm really a PS fan in disguise. Yet, i bought the Xbox One first. Shelled out an extra $100 and the X1 is losing the console war? Now i'm the only one here defending the Xbox One. Wow, if i'm a PS fanboy i'm doing a really sh!tty job of it.

TD you seem to forget that I was around TXB since like 2004...I remember well your trolling days when you were absolutely Pro Sony. :txbcool:
I think you have an 'underdog complex'.....you are a fanboy of whichever console is doing the worst ATM...LOL..if that makes sense to you.

This thread is going nowhere now.

I wish they would have made him do that scene again, he didn't sell that well at all. It's funny in your post though ;)

I was surprised the X1 was selling as well as it has been at that price.

I agree with others. Microsoft needs to match Sony on pricing asap.

Wouldn't sony just lower their price and always be cheaper than MS?

You have managed to make anything you say a joke at this point, but I thought that was your goal, no?

Doubt it. One of the only ways either of them can afford to drop the price is if MS drops the Kinect, I doubt they would want to take a loss on every console by lowering the price. Not to mention Sony really has no incentive to, they are selling PS4s like crazy.

I guess. I like to think of it as having common sense. It's one thing to have a debate and it's another to just act totally blinded by the nonsense and hyperbole.

I'll say this. It's funny to see astro abandon the net because he has nothing to post about with the PS4 selling better. That guy's whole account was based off Xbox leading in sales.

Last I heard they did not track online sales, it needs to be reported to them. So if they are indeed reliably tracking that info, then it is news to me. MS and Sony do not need NPD for online sales as they have the full info themselves, otherwise yes NPD is extremely helpful for everything else.

MS and Sony don't have "full info".. they don't know every copy sold, other than sold to retailers themselves.

They have their own methods for estimating, and obviously have closer relationships with retailers, but are not provided full data from every single retailer.

NPD estimates based on data they are given, as well as their own algorithms and surveys. Which includes online sales. From their own web site:

Monitor retail sales of PC games and video games hardware, software, and accessories in the US and Canada. The service covers all distribution channels, including online sales. No other market research company offers this level of detail in point-of-sale market information.

Honestly pointless conversation; NPD numbers are the most accurate numbers we get consistently for US sales. Are you new to sales threads or something?

I suggest staying out of NPD threads if you don't want to discuss their industry trusted estimates. People pay thousands of dollars to access their data. If you want to ignore their data, then good day to you I guess? You come across really angry and childish to be honest.

Plainview: There was a bunch of articles about it last year.. they already were including some estimates, since around 2011.

Just for the hell of it I checked gamestops in the Oakland area for PS4's since someone I was discussing this with earlier in the thread made it seem that they were easy to find up there, the closest store they are showing that has stock is in Sacramento nearly 80 miles away and it's low stock. I checked the Walmarts up in that area too and 16 showed up, 10 were out of stock, one was low supply and the others had them in stock, same thing goes for the person living in VA or Maryland, couldn't remember which so I checked both (yeah bored tonight I guess lol) and the vast majority of walmarts there were out of stock as well.

I double checked my area too and noticed the zip code was wrong so I changed it (same home store though) it came up with 13 stores this time, 10 of which were sold out. I'm sure it's a kind of hit and miss thing but I really doubt there is plentiful supply of PS4's out there yet, I'm sure that will be the case fairly soon though.

As of last year they did no track this info. There were articles mid year that they were looking to some major digital distributor sources for tracking info. That does not mean that they track all info and it doesn't mea that MS nor Sony provide that data to anyone but themselves.

Here is an article. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/125629-NPD-Prepping-Service-to-Track-Digital-Game-Sales

Next time before being an ass, do some research yourself as opposed to calling people out, belittling them and just going by advertising bunk.

The response I gave was that I was not aware of them reliably tracking it. It was opening discussion, didn't expect your low IQ response to it.

You said they don't track "online sales."

I then informed you that they did.

Perhaps you should use the English language properly.

Sure, MS and Sony know all digital download sales.. NPD doesn't get much of that info one could surmise, they are clearly broad estimates at this point unless MS or Sony are doing sales sharing. Most of their company revolves around creating similar data. Survey 1,000 people who purchased a game, ask them if they bought retail or DD.. multiply it by your known retail numbers.. voila, pretty good estimates.

Either way, it's not just your responses to me that are childish and angry. That is not belittling, it's my opinion of your posts. And you have the nerve to tell me I'm being an ass and that I need to do some research?

I said in my first post they recently began tracking DD sales.. thanks for informing me of something I knew a year ago when I read the articles about it... that I posted about hours ago.

You want to be belittled?

I'll bite.. couldn't care less about this circus of retards.. you are a smarmy tool.. a pathetic fanboy.. always have been.

Try giving them a call to ask about what they have on hand. I have found online store tools to not always be accurate.

LOL No not going to get that far into it, it's pretty obvious that they are selling well.

"Last I heard". Sorry, maybe if I said "last I heard, they do not track all digital sales, just certain venues"? I don't see how my post warranted your response. It's not like all of your posts come across with the inflection you intend. We try to write things with our own voice here and the medium doesn't directly capture sarcasm and other nuances. But you attacked me. Don't like the posts, then fine. The first part of your reply was fine enough, the rest unnecessary.

If I bother you, there is an ignore feature. Don't want people posting back at you, then make sure your posts are just as accurate as what you call someone else out on.

Oh, I thought you were trying to get one. Well in your remote area, perhaps hard to get, but stocked well most populated well and not moving all that quickly, as NPD suggests. That goes for X1 as well, they are both in stores and available for many.

Sony is still not meeting demand completely though that's the issue, I checked Maryland, Virginia and parts of nothern and southern CA and the vast majority of walmarts and Gamestops are sold out or low supply. MS hasn't had supply issues with the X1 since just before Xmas, they really aren't going through the same thing right now. The bottom line is the X1 is easy to find, the PS4 isn't. I'm sure in a month or two that will change and both should be able to be purchased at most retailers. Sony has the Japanese launch coming up in a week and a half so I'm sure they've been holding consoles back for that.

As far as thinking I was looking for a PS4 thanks for offering advice and trying to help, I've had one since launch day though ;)

Woah I'm kind of stunned that the PS4 outsold the X1 in January. For me, PS4 was hard to track down in the month of January.

Gamestops in this area have had issue with both systems. Best Buy, TRU, Costco and Walmart have been the places where they have been in stock. I'm not saying they're as easy as a pack of gum. But they certainly aren't as hard as you've made it seem or Hiss. Low in supply ? Sure. Harder to get than a One ? Sure. Impossible or a pulling out hair moment ? Hell no.

If I wanted to go buy 10 right now, I could without a hiccup. I'm amazed you called a few places, hell I wouldn't trust any of the low level workers to scrape a piece of dog feces from my shoe. Let alone get off their ass to check stock. I say this, because the last time I called for a play and charge for my One (which were extremely hard to find for a brief moment); I got a cockeyed "no". Took a drive, found 3 of them.

WTF! GameStop have had issue with X1? Straight BS. Stop lying son. GameStop stores ( I drove to like 30+ gamestops this past 6 weeks picking up clearance PS2 games) around here in Los Angeles and all of them have sign on their freakn door with X1 is available/in-stock). No joke. So far, Costco is the only place to get a PS4 but you have to buy it as a bundle and it costs like $479.99.

"have had"

Not, "having currently". And I should have clarified but I was talking about the holiday issues. Gamestop was forcing the purchase from bundle aspect or major purchases only. Sort of like Sams Club and their, "buy a TV, you can buy a PS4". Granted, their issues with the PS4 have been far more ridiculous in terms of time. But no one goes to Gamestop for a PS4, there's zero reason too.

These numbers can't be true cause the Sony lot still claim you haven't been able to buy a PS4 for months. ;)

Its funny seeing people act all doom and gloom. This gen has still just started.

I didn't call anyplace I checked store availability on their websites, again I never said they are impossible to find either but you guys made it sound like they are just sitting around everywhere collecting dust which is just not the case.

I'm glad you clarified that, I just checked X1's available at GS in the Oakland area and out of 64 stores all of them had them in stock, only 3 stores have "low stock" again that's against the PS4 which you'd have to go to Sacramento to get if you wanted one from GS. There is a reason to go to get a PS4 from GS, they do get shipments in they just sell quickly. As I said before the manager at the store near my house said they get about 2 shipments a week with each shipment containing between 6-15 PS4's, they are pretty much always gone by the end of the next day, they haven't gone more than 2 days in a row with PS4's in stock at that store since it launched.

Humans ... we are a strange breed and will do anything to get back at each other. Sony fans were waiting a looooong time ago for this to happen, seeing MS hold the short side of the stick. It will get much much worse for MS once the AAA games from sony start lauching.

We know of at least 2 (4 if you count MLB and Driveclub) but unlike MS they haven't announced most of what they have coming out for the next two years. The big deal this year is going to be the Halo 2 remake (if the rumors are true) and Forza Horizon 2 (again if the rumors are true) along with sunset overdrive but we haven't seen one bit of gameplay from that one yet, so I don't know that one really has an advantage over the other in terms of announced (and rumored) exclusives this year.

Who has better exclusives are subjective, & in any case, exclusive also present a small pie of the overall games sales compare to Multiplatform games.

Multiplatform games looking good better or run better on the other console is a bigger factor I think for many people.
