The new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is Nvidia’s fastest graphics card ever



Nvidia has announced its next monster graphics card: the $699 GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang unveiled the new card on stage at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, where he promised that the GTX 1080 Ti not only offered “35 percent more performance” than its predecessor (the base GTX 1080), but that it was even faster than the current king of cards — the $1,200 Titan X.

Nvidia says the new 1080 Ti will arrive in stores this month, and it will also bring a price cut for the older GTX 1080, reducing it to $500. If you’re considering the best though, in order to build a brand new rig for VR or 4K PC gaming, you might want to skip out on last year’s card — the GTX 1080 Ti looks like the new gold standard.

The GTX 1080 Ti beats out the regular GTX 1080 in most specifications, with 11 GB of 11 Gbps DDR5X VRAM, compared to its predecessor’s 8 GB. And while the Titan X has more RAM — 12 GB — it runs at slower speeds of 10 Gbps, and falls very slightly behind the new card in terms of bandwidth and compute power. The GTX 1080 Ti also isn’t as much of a power hog as the $1,200 Titan X, pulling 220 watts, compared to the older card’s 250.

hmm so tempted but I would like to get one with a 3rd party AIR cooler.

I got a gtx 1080. Gonna stay with it for a few generations

I upgraded my SLI 980TI's to SLI Titan XPs @ 1400mhz a couple of months back.

Going to be good for a while....

However that is a solid price for the 1080TI. I was expecting $799-$900 TBH.

Also the narrower 352-bit bus is interesting. With the 11 GIGS of DDR5X memory modules I'm wondering if that bus width is going to be able to handle that.

If its anything like the 1080, the scalpers and 3rd party board partners will push it up to those prices.
 
Pretty sure I'm fine with my 1080 since I only have a 1440p monitor, but that ti performance is killer.

I told myself my next upgrade would be MB/CPU anyway.

I think you can thank AMD for announcing their much more affordable cards. All hail competition. I guarantee if all this recent buzz over their new offerings weren't going on, you'd be looking at a Titan priced card. Especially if it out-performs it.
 
You know the people who own the Titan got to be pissed because that card cost at least $1200 when it came out.

This card is basically the same thing. That tells you Nvidia is a ripoff and now they have to lower priced card you can thank AMD for that.

I dont think the Titan is even a year old!
 
AMD has miles to go before they can be in the same sentence as nVidia...but at least they are trying now.
1080ti smokes the Titan XP and is almost half the price...so yeah Id say they are mad.

that is not the point I am trying to say. Nvidia was trying to rip people off with their over priced cards and then here comes AMD and did the first damage with their RX480 cards (which they are really good) and have it priced at what a card should be not a $1,200 price tag.

Now, this 1080ti is now cheaper than the Titan card and more powerful?

That is why I have said Nvidia is a ripoff.

I have te RX480 8gigs card and it works wonders and it was also a price that was easy for me to get and my games look very good.
 
Can't say this is for me. I've been more than happy with my GTX 1070. s*** I probably wouldn't have upgraded from my 780 Ti to the 1070 if my 780 Ti had more VRAM.

It will be fine. They are running 11GHz GDDR5X on the 1080 Ti to compensate for the narrower bus. It actually has more memory bandwidth than Titan XP.
 
I have the MSI 980ti Gamer, waiting for the MSI 1080ti Gamer. :) Hopefully within the week.
 
So I got the Asus strix 1080 ti OC. Also got the Asus rog swift 1440p 165hz with gsync gaming monitor to go with it. Curious to see if higher than 60 fps really makes a difference.
