Finally..this Alan Wake in limbo s*** is over.

Many Xbox fans are worried that this means MS won't acquire Remedy and that maybe this is a sign they are up for grabs for everyone but XBOX Studios.. but y'know what, if Phil doesn't recognize the talent then maybe he needs to take that L and hear what the fans think of this after Sony or whoever else buys them or makes an exclusivity deal for Alan Wake 2.

True, but when I see it hit my new posts, I think....IS IT...IS IT???

IS IT?????

Or they just want their IP back and have no reason to be bought up......

I guess better Sony than Google but they may not want to be bought and I still don't see what Remedy offers Sony that they don't already have. I would just assume Sony would want to either secure studios they are already working with or secure ones with MP strength which is what they need the most.

I stick with the believe that the MS/Remedy partnership ended on poor terms and even if it didn't something would have happened between them already if it was ever going to.

Yes..because right now the prospects of Control sales is looking so damn good! And they're coming right off the hot sales from Quantum Break..

They aren't struggling. They got paid for QB and got a publisher deal for Control.

Cool. Hopefully if Control does well they’ll take another shot at AW. Anyone know if their publishing deal with 505 a multi game deal?

Not sure but they are also handling the Crossfire HD games for Smilegate

They shopped around Alan Wake 2 before doing QB so I assume the only thing they got here was publishing rights to the first game and American Nightmare?

I've seen some speculation that it could become a Sony exclusive. I believe that's based on the visit Shu made to Remedy recently and Sam Lake visiting Naughty Dog and Insomniac. Might be just wishful thinking, who knows. Personally I wasn't a big fan of Alan Wake, so it doesn't matter a whole lot to me.

In July 2018, Remedy CEO Telo Virtala stated that any further sequels to Alan Wake would require Microsoft Studios' approval as the publishing rights holder, though Remedy otherwise owns all other IP rights to the series.

Sounds like it's 100% all Remedy's now? Current and future Alan Wake.

Weird because here they said

https://www.polygon.com/features/2015/4/20/8450329/alan-wake-2-prototype-video-interview

It's one thing to want a sequel to your game. Even planning the story out for a sequel isn't that surprising. But Remedy has a working prototype, one it created about five years ago to show off Alan Wake 2.

It used that prototype to create a pitch video to shop around to potential publishers. Lake said the video is not meant to be the opening of the sequel, but a taste of what was to come.

Maybe they were using it but not specifically to get Alan Wake 2 made

I’m glad they got the publishing rights back, but I swear to god if a sequel to Alan Wake becomes exclusive to another platform I’m going to be f***ing livid.

ZhugeEX on Era said that Sony has explored buying Remedy but that he doesn't expect it will happen

I'm guessing a next gen partnership will happen though

So... Rumor has it that Alan Wake is heading to PS4 very soon...

Good. People who don't have an Xbox or gaming PC should also play it. Well, those who do also should. Well, they should have already, but people sometimes don't know what's good.

Timed exclusive content maybe but I don't see them going single platform again anytime soon

No rumours just speculation.
