- Being forced into cut-scenes and handholding from the annoying narrator in your first hour

I want to bypass all cutscenes related to "the story" and just do the events. There really isn't a story, so I would like to pass it by.

After you unlock free cars (pre-order deal or whatever), you still have to go to the Car buying tab and buy it for 0 CR

Yesterday I was going through the autoshow and clicking on each of the free 0 credit cars and downloading them (and picking their paint color). Would be nice if they just appeared in the garage. Oh well.

To change cars you have to back to the garage instead of being able to swap on the fly

Pretty sure I changed cars already without having to go back to the garage. I will look again tonight to see how I did it. If I did it :)

Fast travelling back to the garage leads to a lengthy load time?!?!

This makes me think you can change cars without going back to the garage, because I haven't fast traveled (I will NOT FAST TRAVEL...it's too fun to drive!), but I change my car. I am not 100% sure, but I thought I just pulled over off the side of the road, went into the start/options menu, cars and switched? I could very well be wrong.

Only cockpit view I think has rearview mirror. I often play hood view! No mirror!

I hadn't noticed that. I only drive in cockpit view, unless I am driving through fields. Then I switch to third person...some of those fields are so damn tall, I can't see s*** through them! LOL.

Game arrived yesterday, installed it, and put a bit of play time into it. Not a whole lot, just the intro stuff, did a championship event, and then just road around for a while trying to get the hang of driving. I'm not really a big racer gamer so I'm not that good yet, but I've been putting it on Easy in my races and will gradually bring it up as I go. It's fun though, the game looks amazing.

Question, where do I get my Day One Edition car? I redeemed the code, but it's not in my Garage or anything. Can't find it.

Also, Kvally add me to the club if you will. Do I have to do anything to accept it?

I will add you, yes. But you won't be able to accept my invite until you unlock the club. So you will see a notification that you are invited in the options menu. Once you finish I think the third championship (and race the train and head back to the festival, the clubs unlock for you).

I love how this game can feel more on the sim side sometimes and also an all out arcade game depending on settings and racing type.

Does anyone know why sometimes I can play with my preferred car online while other times it makes me pick a fast one? I honestly don't care about winning the races, prefer to use my Volkswagen beetle.

It says unlocked but I guess I need to have enough credits to buy the day one car packs and free car from demo?

Oh and you can change your car when you enter the event of the current car is ineligible. I can't seem to change my car on the go though.

Eight races and an hour plus in and I am still waiting to unlock clubs. No freedom to choose what I want to do and features are still slowly being dribbled out. Not liking it. Where is my sandbox! Tell me it becomes like the original at some point and just lets me drive around the map picking and choosing events as I go. f*** this idea of series.

It opens up after the initial "tutorial" phase, which is quite long, apparently.

Got in the top 6% for something, I forget. I think I found a secret road, it let me under a bridge through some water. I thought there was a ramp at the end of it, so I floored it with my Genesis. There was a curb before the ramp; I had to do like 45 flips lol.

so i planned on putting a ton of time from last night through today. . .and a storm knocks my power out. . .till 930 tonight. . .sucks

I was trying not to buy this game, as I have too many games I'm playing through now, but I just caved. It is downloading at home now.

I didn't think I'd like a slightly dumbed down version of F5, but the game is just fun and the graphics are just amazing.

Once you have ulocked the free cars you have to go to the auto show at the hub and go through the cars you can buy. The day one edition cars are in amongst the other cars you can buy but the day one cars cost 0 credits.
It's a bit of a mess about but they are there.

Quick way to level up:

Farm while you can, some bad news. Playground games is aware of this and they issued a press release that they will be fixing this exploit by adding speed bumps. They mentioned that this isn't how they envisioned people playing their game.

Does it affect anyone. As in, how would it impact me if I choose not to do it.

Not everyone, just those who don't play the game as they envisioned. It is actually a bungie/playground initiative! :p

I joined the club today. What a great game this is, was unsure about getting, very glad I did. My free cars finally work now, not sure what was up the other night

Awesome game, strangely enough the cars doesn't use their Daytime Running Lights (DRL) , Italy required daytime running lights outside built up areas. ;)

I believe
Best racer I've played. Speed, visuals, content, tight controls etc... Driving at high speed with hood view through rain and some old school buildings results in awesome reflections on the hood.

A few drawbacks:

- Being forced into cut-scenes and handholding from the annoying narrator in your first hour
- After you unlock free cars (pre-order deal or whatever), you still have to go to the Car buying tab and buy it for 0 CR
- To change cars you have to back to the garage instead of being able to swap on the fly
- Fast travelling back to the garage leads to a lengthy load time?!?!

Make note that it is normal a bunch of tabs are greyed out. You have to level up to unlock them. I think I am level 3. Rivals and Online tabs unlocked, but Club tab is still greyed out. Also, after you level up a few levels more radio stations unlock.

When you choose free cars (8 free cars), that old F-100 pick up has an awesome Sanford and Son design someone made. Download it for free!
The cut scenes and unskippable voice over instructions were a big annoyance in the original game. I know a lot of people complained about it so it is odd to see them keep it as is.

Gift cars should go into your garage. I thought the Day One car packed worked like F5. You don't get them all dumped into your garage but the first one you purchase from the marketplace should be 0CR like you said. I kind of like it that way so my garage is only the cars I select but I can see if you are trying to collect everything it would be more annoying.

I don't think you could switch cars at will in the original. However, it was laid out more like a sandbox so all the events for your particular wrist band would show on the map. You could switch cars out by pulling into any new event and after it would always ask if you wanted to stick with that car or go back to the one you pulled up in. I much preferred that freedom to roam around the map mixing up events rather than locking into these 'series' from the hub. That type of hand holding is really draining some of the fun out of the game for me. I guess this was done because many people feel lost if someone is not dragging them around by the nose, but I would rather just be set free to my own devices. Makes me think of Crackdown and how so many people complained that it didn't lead you when that is exactly why I loved it. Give me a cool enough sandbox and I will entertain myself. I don't need someone telling me how I should be entertained.

It also feels like FH2's multiplayer may have also got a dose more of this hand holding as well but I haven't really sunk enough time in it to know. I have only jumped into a few pick up matches so not sure what kind of control, if any, you have by hosting. It seems like the MP events I joined were a glorified hopper with voting where the only difference was you have a few minutes to drive to the start of the event. If I remember correctly, in the original game, the host set locations on the map and people screwed off driving their. I tried to host but every time it just tried to add me to a hopper event.

Also trying to get a feel for the Clubs which I FINALLY unlocked. I joined one that had hundreds of uses but it seemed to bug out the leaderboard notices that pop up when you do a speed track. It would always list the other player a [][][][][][][][] instead of a name. Once I unjoined that club it went back to displaying names. I probably need to join the VFG club as it will probably be a more personal experience. I see where there is an XP ladder but is there anything else? Can the clubs setup seasons or their own event ladder, time trails or competitions with other clubs?

If you host is there a way to lock down options? I was running 'sim' damage and noticed in a MP free roam run up to the start line I crashed into a pole and pretty much killed car. I couldn't get it out of gear or to speed up and was just stuck in a ditch for two minutes until everyone got to start of event. Seems a bit of a disadvantage for those that run sim damage since someone could easily take them out. Would like to see a way to lock people into sim damage and c*** pit view. That view makes off road races so much more exhilarating. That view is also awesome with the weather effects but too disadvantageous if everyone else is running chase cam. Driving line is another thing I would like to see disabled. Need a 'hard core' multiplayer mode ;)

Good thing is that after you complete Sisteron, the handholding is much less. As for chaging cars on the fly, I never looked into changing them at the start of the event as I'm prepared going into it which car to use, but I meant changing them while freeroaming.... which I don't think you can do. At least fast traveling to the garage is free.

Currently, the best racer I've ever played. Some small nitpicky things, but the overall visuals, sound, gameplay, content and customization etc... just make any typical circuit racer bland.

I like to play hood view, so plowing through fields with all those bushes and weeds in my view is frantically fun! I didn't think the visuals would be this good considering the scope of the game. But the cars, lighting, rain effects, reflections are all excellent.
