Good thing is that after you complete Sisteron, the handholding is much less. As for chaging cars on the fly, I never looked into changing them at the start of the event as I'm prepared going into it which car to use, but I meant changing them while freeroaming.... which I don't think you can do. At least fast traveling to the garage is free.

Currently, the best racer I've ever played. Some small nitpicky things, but the overall visuals, sound, gameplay, content and customization etc... just make any typical circuit racer bland.

I like to play hood view, so plowing through fields with all those bushes and weeds in my view is frantically fun! I didn't think the visuals would be this good considering the scope of the game. But the cars, lighting, rain effects, reflections are all excellent.
I agree. This is the best looking open racer I have ever played, and the most fun racer I have ever played.

Chances are we are all in the same boat..... low level with limited cars and money. But here's a car tip for you guys.

Although the acceleration isn't great and likely won't win you any events that have high spec sports cars, look into the classic blue Subaru rally racer. I chose it as I wanted to do the Rally Championship. Cheap car too. Top speed along highways is actually pretty high. But the key benefit of the car is AWD which makes turning and handling tight. Very little of that wheel spin out stuff rounding corners.

On the other hand, I saw an event for that Extreme Toy class. I chose the Ariel Atom as it looks cool. Not for me. Fast, but very loose steering and spinning out a lot if you attempt to drive in the dirt or fields at high speed.

But to each their own. I always liked driving cars with tight handling at the expense of top speed.

For those of you good at driving games, avoid the cars marked average driver when you see a car to rival against. They are too easy. Waste of time unless you really want that 5,000 xp or money. For a challenge, focus on the cars classified as pro or high skill drivers.... whatever they are called. Huge difference. The better drivers are truly better and always seem to have better cars too (racing/high spec cars).

Yeah, hood view would be another good way to experience the off-road courses. It is just hilarious fun with bushes and wheat flying everywhere. Last night I was driving in the early morning and came up on a section of road overlooking a wooded mountain in the background. It was amazing knowing that it looked so good and it wasn't just a painted backdrop. It was actually something I could drive to.

I am not sure if I am past Sisteron or not yet. What I really want, and I don't think it will happen, is for the game to put all the race dots on the map so I can pick and choose what I want, where I want. In the original I just loved to drive around an area and if there was an event or two on the map that struck me I would stop by and run them. Now, the map only ever shows three or four races for the series I am specifically entered. So if I finish a race and don't care to do another in that car or the next race in the series is farther away I would rather just be able to see every race option nearby my location so I can pick and choose whatever sounds fun at the time. That is what I am looking for by 'opening up' the map.

Does anyone know if they are going to have a rally expansion for this game? I know it has a lot of the cars already but the upgrades are missing. There is no rally specific suspensions (didn't lower your car) or anything like that.

You know what a fun challenge is? I had a 14 mile drive ahead of me, so I decided to just drive through the center of the map at the highest speed I could, through the hills, moutains, fields....and avoiding all the roads. Trying to do that while avoiding stationary objects such as fences or large trees or buildings....THAT was tough...but it was a fun as hell trip. Highly recommend.

I past Sisteron and the Train Vain event. I was mucking around driving the world aimlessly, but at my point I finished the road event leading up to the next 4 race events. Unless it opens up later, I've yet to see truly open/random racing events popping up either. Randomly driving around leads to more XP boards, bucket lists, barns and such popping up (I've found two barns), but unless some of us are doing it wrong, I haven't seen the game totally open up itself up for racing events.

You'll know if you past Sisteron as it has it's own set of 4 events (I think). You also have to do a final race event. When it's all done, the Online Club tab becomes unlocked. If your Club tabe is still greyed out, you haven't done Sisteron yet.

Yeah! I was messing around driving and doing XP boards and such. I rarely take the road when I'm just roaming! Funny how the GPS keeps trying to recalculate and get you back on using roads! No thanks. I know what you mean. Trying to plow through forests and such is tough and lets to lots of big thuds against tree trunks!

Another fun thing is taking a fast car and driving as fast and straight as possible along those long highways. It gets so fast, its tough to coordinate while weaving through traffic.

I had my first total wipe out too. Although I only have cosmetic damage on, I guess I rolled my car so badly, the game decided to basically black out for a second and reset my car in a safe position so I could start over again. haha.

i like this game but i kinda suck on the bucketlist challenges always skid off road and hit trees or crash into oncoming cars!

Nice pics! Oddly enough, the pic I like best is middle pic! That gloomy rainy scene just seems sweet. The first pic with the sunny horizon is great too.

And what did you do to propel your car in the air in that pic? it looks like you're driving on a flat field?!?! lol

There was some sort of crazy hill or ledge. It was a bucket list challenge to catch air like 20 times in a couple minutes I think.

Awesome game, strangely enough the cars doesn't use their Daytime Running Lights (DRL) , Italy required daytime running lights outside built up areas. ;)
I noticed the white Mercedes has the LED running lights on.

u2popmofo this picture you took is SICK. I want this on the RING in Forza 6:

Yep, that's awesome.

Still haven't picked up Forza Horizon 2 yet but looking forward to it. Probably sometime this week.
Do it!

Just make note that English dude Ben will be chirping away holding your hand for the first few hours just like the demo. Some unskippable cut scene type stuff too. But once you play a bunch of hours and finish some events and unlock some tabs, Ben seems to gab less and less as his tutorial scripts seem to decrease in number.

Blandina and I were kicking some kiester online earlier today. That was my first session playing online, you rack up a TON of XP in that mode!
I just tried online for the first time tonight myself too! So much fun! I highly recommend it to anyone who's holding back. I did several Online Roadtrips, and really enjoyed it. I don't normally do racers online, but that's going to change with FH2.

We'll have to join up, there's a limited time achievement for doing so many events with friends (getting nets you reward credits).

360 version actually looks pretty nice, but you can tell the lighting differences when out in the world. That time lapse segment really shows this.

Does look good but the X1 version is so far above it in every department and the lack of off road races is a shame.

I have no time for the cross-platform, current-gen comparison vids, but that was very interesting! Sumo Digital did a great job with the old hardware, and I love that they reformed parts of the game to play to it's strengths/avoid weaknesses! That's dedication.

It's also nice to be reminded just how lucky we are (on either console) and how far things have come! I get used to all these new bells and whistles pretty fast.

Sumo Digital are a solid team and MS should get them to make a Mario Kart style game for the Xbox One.

Killer app in my opinion. I had this and LotR to choose from. I think I chose wisely. There's just so much to do, to see and to experience. Visuals are crazy good, gameplay is phenomenal, the game just flat out rocks! Drivatars are much better too. I can't even tell the difference now.

And Anna.... Lawd. Seriously clever way to use Kinect in a game. Love how she talks back to you. Awesome game is awesome...

Ygrin:
