Oh MS oh MS (hits head on wall)

It's anti (Steam) consumer to block Steam from windows.
It's also anti consumer to block the PLAYSTORE from Iphones.

It's legal though. By all means MS, you built this garden, tresspassers should be "dealt with"

It reminds me when Gabe was up in arms about a Microsoft Store being built into windows as it was anti-consumer....i think he would not think so if it was the Steam store pre-installed on 400Million PC's.
Right, and Gabe is so bitter about it that he has no plans to make any console game for the foreseeable future. He has become anti-console, actually. Heck, he doesn't even have any actual game plans. Just a storefront. That's all Valve is now, a store. It's kinda lame, if you ask me. I'm sure he cited Play Anywhere as anti consumer, as well, since it keeps Valve out of the loop. Was there a Microsoft store on his ill-fated Steam Machines? I highly doubt it. Only 3 people know for sure.

Tim actually being in the industry and What's he's saying>what some Xbox defenders are saying with no argument and no job in the industry.

I work in the games industry, and have for over 17 years.

I work at MICROSOFT, and have for over 17 years.

I work in the Windows and Devices Group (you know, the group that actually f***ing makes Windows, Xbox, etc).

Tim Sweeney is absolutely wrong, and has a history of being wrong (when it comes to MS hate).

There is no "ransomware" scenario. At all. That's just a false, misleading, garbage statement.

Final plans for Cloud OS haven't been announced, but even if we gave Tim the benefit of the doubt about ANY of his contentions, at worst, that would leave you with possible scenarios where a user could potentially purchase cheap systems which cannot run every software product they own - which is no different from today's hardware scenarios. I have a $2000 PC with a 1080. That PC is not going to lose anything, and never will. MICROSOFT will continue to protect that investment with Windows 10 security, free feature upgrades over time, etc. I will not lose anything on the system to be "ransomed back" to me (pathetic). But, If I buy a $100 used laptop IN ADDITION TO THE MACHINE I ALREADY OWN, and it can't run Gears 4, I won't be able to play Gears 4 ON THAT CHEAP ASS MACHINE, but that doesn't mean I somehow lose it from other machines, or that there's any legitimate "ransom" scenario being played out. It means I can buy additional hardware devices which don't support some of the software products I own.

In no world associated with Windows/Xbox/Microsoft will anyone have anything "taken" from them only to have it ransomed back for a price. That's an outrageous lie.

I recall a conversation.

Q: "Which do you like better, the Halo series or the Half Life series."
A: "The Halo series"

Q: "WTF? how can you choose Halo over Half Life?"
A: "Because they actually make Halo games"

Yeah, I think Gabe just realised they make more dough as the middle man. You'd think though with billions of bux they could spare 50M to make a final HL chapter

That's been known since it was announced and its not just MS that do that sort of thing

It's also not a competitive maneuver, but a practical one.

MS doesn't control or own the other browsers, and given the cloud nature of Windows 10 S, the support and unification of browsing/cloud features is paramount to a solid experience, and MS can't make the other browser companies support everything the way they'd need to.

This is not uncommon in the industry, there are practical reasons why it happens this way (for MS and others), and any attempt to warrant a "MS is evil" slant is still unfounded.

Not sure about that. Taking away all the good browsers and leaving us with the MS crap is pretty evil.

Eh, says you... but the truth is, MS can't make others make their s*** work, and when the OS is essentially cloud based for everything, the browser needs specific features and support... the other guys won't ensure the features and functions will be in place/supported... I mean, why would they? There's no incentive for them... so, no promise of support/features? No compatibility. It's their own damn fault.

Could not give s***. MS's browser sucks ass, and that it is their fault.
MS made the OS, so it is their fault.

Spin how ever you like, you little MS spinner you.

it's okay but needs improvement

Firefox needs to get it's s*** sorted. That browser used to be great.
Oh and edge isn't supported by Norton so a simple reason for me not to use it.

Chrome is what I used. It took me a very long time to get away from Firefox. Way too much of a memory hog. Chrome is a quarter.

Not on Mac. Chrome is a monster memory hog on my MacBook Pro. Firefox uses next to nothing by comparison.

I wouldn't touch Bing or Edge with a yard stick. I don't like either at all.

Right now, Safari 209, Chrome 204 in ram usage on my iMac at work. Firefox was over 1 gig. More windows open, including a YouTube video playing, on Chrome right now. Your Chrome may be old.

Yeah maybe my Chrome is old but my Firefox isn't. I'm not work right now so can't check what it's running at.

"us"? You have Windows 10 S? You know it's the secure, locked one, right? There is still regular Windows 10, which gives you access to software not found in the MS store. They aren't taking anything away! This is their replacement for Windows RT, and competitor for Chrome OS... which also only let's you download through Google's App Store, or maybe Amazon's. I guess they are just as evil, right?

Also, Google could still put Chrome in the Windows Store for people who want to run 10 S.

Actually Internet Explorer is on Windows 10.
As mentioned by Kvally, 9 hrs before...

Ok. I have just always used the default Edge browser that is preloaded... or Chrome. Doesn't matter, as you can use whatever you want, as Windows 10 allows. IE, I wouldn't buy a Windows 10 S machine in the first place... except maybe as a work computer or something, to keep it safe.

Isn't that what Windows 10 S Is being sold as though, school and work PCs? What on earth does this do to effect any one of us? It's a DIFFERENT version of Windows 10. Regardless of what some of you think, there is a market for safe computing.

Also of note, last week at Build, iTunes and Spottify were announced to be going to Windows Store. This week, WhatsApp was announced. It's not unthinkable that Chrome would make its way over, as well.

Again, this isn't as important for Win 10 users, as much as 10 S users.

Google needs to release chrome for Windows store. If they don't, it's their own customers they are hurting.

Chrome was a hog for me. A few months back I updated. Beautiful now.

I tried it all day to day. Left Chrome open with three tabs. It was using about 1 gig of memory. One chrome process and about 6 chrome helper processes, all around the 200meg mark. And it's the latest version too. Still the same crap with it. Went back to Firefox and have the same three sessions open and its just under 400meg. Go figure.
