I think some of the anger can be understandable, The game is very crushy & buggy (at least on PC). I regularly cannot shoot, use my abilities in a fight. The HUD loss is still common (at least on PC), The HUD loss also mean cannot make any interections.

I got it that the balancing team is not the same team as the fixing team, but the optic is not good when the game has so many technical issues & they announced nerf. At least buff some less-used abilities, class tree nodes, before nerf.
But everything is less used on those characters cause 1 is op. Has anybody even tried an anomoly build with Trickster? All you ever see is the same one build.

I really enjoy how you can set up to take really advantage of your skills and perks. 150 clip LMG + Volcanic Rounds + Perk that gives an extra clip to Volcanic Rounds = :)

I tried the whirlwind skill build. It's suicide on anything but an open map with beasts.

Most human enemies hid behind cover & you get block by so many obstacles making melee abilities useless for anything but cc & buff/debuff.

Also, abilities should scale to weapon damage or something similar. This has always been a design issue in games (borderlands 3 has same issues) where abilities do not scale well with gears. . Weapon damage scale with weapon damage as well as stats & mods.

I was around 11-13 when I tried abilities build. It isn't even about OP, I barely survived. Even now with the big nerf, people still use twisted round for tricksters (watched some guides), with some changes. Abilities skill just not viable at the moment compare to just shooting. This is something PCF needs to work out.

My suggestion is either abilities damage scale to weapon power, or have a separate power call anomaly power on weapon where abilities can scale to.

I'm a bit further in now (mid WT6 and just unlocked the techno heal skill) and my only real complaint so far is that starting up the game takes way too long. Well, and I did try about a minute or so on the X1X and it's just horrid on last gen.

Have they nerfed legandary drops? Got 6 gold clearance missions tonight and no legandary drops :-(

I was playing with a buddy on WT10 fighting the shaman side quest boss, that dude is tough & overture. Thankfully there is a checkpoint before the fight.

The "loss of abilities use" bug that is persistent for me in coop is hindering the enjoyment for me a little. Happened like 15-20% of the time.

That is way too low to be writing off a build or abilities in general.

My Trickster is almost at end game. I'll see for myself how useless or not anytying is.

Sure, but I also search online for trickster build & I do not see anyone with viable non gun base ability build. If there are, I am happy to try.

It seems like this game suffers from the same issue The Division series suffered from, how to make skill builds or in this case anomaly builds viable. Weapon based builds are easier to make and come with almost immediate payoffs. And with end-game being time based, survivability is less of a concern as players tailor their builds towards the most efficient means of taking down enemies. After all, you don't have to worry about taking damage if you're melting the enemies before they can land a shot.

I have a Devastator at about lvl21. And its a fun build but I recently started a Technomancer. I think the Techno class is more suited to my playstyle. As a Devo I was almost always surrounded since I like the Gravity Leap skill which flings me right into a crowd of enemies. If I don't kill them very quickly I'm dead. In contrast as the Technomancer I can hang back and deal lots of damage while keeping most of the enemies in front of me so they can't bite me in the back. If they get close I have the ability to freeze them either with a skill or with melee. I think my Techno build is only at lvl8 or so but already feels much better to play over the chunky Devastator. But I think that comes down to preferred play style. I'd much rather hang back and deal damage over running towards the frontline to try and tank all the enemies.

It would be nice if PCF added something a little different to end game besides time trials. Perhaps something objective based where survivability is needed making the Devastator class more viable and needed. If end game remains as a time trial then gamers will continue to focus on damage and right now weapons are the best option for that.

It's nothing like the Division (thank god). You really need to get the character to level 30 in order to unlock most of the mods and abilities to workout a build. I've also got a Devastator at level 20 and I agree that the class struggles in some places. I ripped through most levels without issue with my Technomancer but I'm finding I've got to lower the World Tier for some places with the Devastator.

That said, I wouldn't worry about a Devastator build in the end game. The class is an absolute monster in the end game. Menace has one and it completely outclasses my Technomancer build in damage output. He's rocking between 40 to 70 million damage per Expedition compared to my 25 to 35 million (which is a huge score anyway!)

My Devastator laughs at this post. I have yet to play with someone who can out-damage me, and my build isn't even complete and no where near min maxed.

I'm saying this game has a similar problem that plagued The Division in making skill builds as a good option over weapon focused builds. This game has that same problem. Anomaly power just doesn't seem to scale as high as it should. I know there are lots of mods I don't have access to yet but I've played the game enough to get a general feel for it.

I've seen Devo builds that crush it with the right mods and specific gear. But in my opinion its much easier to get a weapon base build off the ground. When I switched my Devo from the Anomaly tree to the weapon skill tree I noticed an immediate impact. I was able to deal much more damage with the mediocre weapons I had. Dealing more damage and taking enemies down faster is the best defense and makes protection skills less important unless you spec into receiving increased weapon damage from using a particular skill.

I just seem to prefer the playstyle of the Technomancer. I've also discovered the fun of using the marksmen rifles which I avoided as a Devastator. Those rifles do a lot of damage and with the Techno class inherent damage increase at long range make it the perfect weapon type for this class. I'm just having more fun with this class overall. Like I said, the playstyle of the Devastator just doesn't seem to be for me. I may circle back to it at some point but right now I'm laser focused on my Technomancer and its toxic capabilities.

I completely disagree. Skill based builds completely viable. In fact Anomaly based builds are ruthless and probably the most powerful in the game if you get the right attributes on your gear. The problems with the Division are definitely not present in this game. I’ll be interested to hear if you stick to that opinion when you do reach end game and really start to focus on your build.

Can share some details on your build. I have a triskter build which I am pretty happy with (combination ofyoutube build guides as well as my own theorycrafting), but I may consider another class to level if I I feel like it.

Its a build I built on from the demo. Just a nice earthquake bleed build. All bottom tree. 3 Earthquake uses. Then pretty much anything that does extra bleed damage or damage to bleeding enemies. As much Status & Anomoly power as possible.

Last night I played with 2 Technomancers and I consistently did the same damage as both of them combined. That is pretty much par for the course aswell in my coop experience.

You were only getting that awesome damage output because I was freezing everyone for you...

So many one hit kills.... even against some Alphas....

I know "better with friends" is a MEME, but itis so true in Outriders.

Teamwork is so important. Enemies has someone else to shoot at

Jokes aside, able to sync with teamate(s) make the game so much fun.

I watched a video last night of a gamer who went full middle tree with the Devastator. Not only was he nigh unkillable but with the slotting of just one mod was able to do tons of damage on CT15. I don't remember the name of the mod but its one that does AOE damage after reload. So, he'd shoot then reload and do lots of damage to enemies that swarmed him.

He freely admitted that he didn't try to get gold and wasn't sure if he could with this build. But said he did lots of testing in group play and never died and was able to keep reviving downed teammates so they could complete the expedition. It was awesome to watch his Devastator laugh at the game's toughest enemies. I hope the devs add in more end-game beyond time trials, its limiting builds like this and any number of others that don't spec specifically into just damage.

Time trial sucks. Many suggestions to improve was discussed on Reddit.

Likely the comet one or scrap grenade.

It was something "Winds". I want to say "Moaning Winds" but that could be my naughty mind adding in the first part. :hehe:

Whatever the case, that build was really tanky while dealing good damage.
