Im curious as to why you would go with that extremely old, power hungry CPU vs say a Ryzen 4 core 8 thread which would be faster? Cost?
because at that time I had bought the last board already before the whole ryzen came out and I didnt want to buy another board and on top of that the price was creeping up. I was almost done and it would cost cheaper to get get the processor.

Also, the board I had was an MSI 970, so it cant take the newer chips. I had to go with the AM3+

I just wanted to see this done.

I am happy with what I have for now.

This bad boy came in!

Is this the NW-700? I was going to get a mic setup for my Home PC, sending shockwaves to the likes to the Pewdiepie & applepie, of streaming, until I record (on my phone) & heard my voice. :smash:
I got this

The reason is that I am running linux OS which it works flawlessly

Amazon product

good price

There is something wrong here, every time I put a link it change into a media

This microphone & pretty much the brand do not ship to where I live.
I wanted a USB one with a Headphone input. USB as I do not want extra external power source from an Interface or Power supply as I have only one wall Socket where my desk is, & already using 4 plugs (2 for my monitors, 1 for speaker, & another for Desktop) for the socket extension.

A headphone jack with no latency would be nice as I want to improve my voiceover & I need to be able to hear my own voice to do so. Not a deal breaker though as I can plug headphone to PC I suppose.

Anyway, here is my current home office/PC gaming setup. Only the pasteboard to the right is new really.

I intend to take all postcards & non-work essential stuff off my pasteboard. if I got another pasteboard, I put all my postcards to it.
I wanted it the desk setup to be work focus, & of course conducive to gaming.

Speakers are cheap Logitech. Nothing too fancy. I am tone r****d (as in I barely tell difference between good & bad sound), so having expensive 1s is waste of $. Importance is it has accessible volume control & headphone jack if I need to be quiet at night.

Tablet are old Wacom Intuos 4, which I have for at least 7-8 years, 1 of the little LCD screen has some bad pixels, but otherwise does the job.

Desktop PC is 970 GTX, i7-4790 3.6GHz 16GB DDR3 bought in 2015 for Witcher 3. Still rocking. I can play most games at about 60fps at reasonable settings. I never experience 30fps gaming since until I looted up my dust collector call PS4 again to play God of war.

Left Monitor is Acer 24" G245HQ, nothing fancy. Right monitor is Philips Brillance 19" which I have for at least 10 years. Workhorse & still as good as the day I bought it.

The keyboard is cheap rubberpad Keyboard/mouse combo from MS. The old one, which is even cheaper & came with the desktop, because I did something dumb, by washing it with shower hose, & too impatient to wait for it to dry before plugging in to USB port again. Needless to say, 1/2 of the keys fail to register. I was tempted to buy one of those fancy RGB gaming keyboards but eventually picked a simpler ones as I think I may be too "abusive" & broke them in no time. Besides, I don't play competitive games to need all those fancy pre-programmable keys.

The mouse is logitech G502. Having a good mouse is more essential, & the extra buttons & ability to adjust mouse sensitivity are something I can be appreciated & use. I got a good price for the G502 as the place I shopped was closing down & give a big discount on it. No brainer.

As for software, I do have ALOT. They include the typical Utility software like anti virus, Anti Malware, multimedia like softify/itune, games of course, Editing tools like MS office, Photoshop, & tools for game development which are all the icons you see at the right side of the main Monitor.

I am looking to add a microphone to complete the setup. Maybe some plants & superhero figurine to improve the mood.

One last thing, I have a standard Office chair from Ikea. It is pretty high quality even though it was from Ikea, but it doesn't improve the posture (backbones) & I am thinking of upgrade to a gaming chair. I did some scientific tests on some, by that I mean sitting on them, & there are some that actually improve posture & make me sit up straight & they are not overly expensive, like within 200€.
Improve posture is good for bones, & I am not getting any younger, and improve focus over time.

I will be ording a new tablet for drawing soon its a 21 inch LCD tablet so I can do a lot more artwork. I really never use my art stuff for all these years and now that I have the time I will be changing that.

If you need any advice on drawing/painting on PC, let me know. I don't consider myself an expert but I can make some recommendation base on your needs since I have years of experience in using PC as a painting platform.

By the way, how do you like your gaming seat so far? Is it worth the hype? Improve long-term sitting etc?

i love the seat for the price I paid for. I can't see my self-paying like $300 USD for it on those high end. So far Ithings are good but to be honest those gaming chairs are way overhyped. I think it's more of a fashing like those yellow glasses to help improve your eyes instead of blinking.

I was looking at this tablet so yeah I will come for you when I get this bad boy!

As disgusting as it is, It's seriously worth it. Love my G-Sync monitor.
Couldn't tell you what if any differences there are between it and Freesync, but I have a Freesync monitor and agree it is quite awesome. Just sucks you guys have to pay so much more for it.

Gsync has much better low frame rate compensation than freesync.

I have never had a single problem with AMD processors.

Can't speak on their cards but my CPU has been going strong for the last 3 years.

I wonder if nVidia will finally drop prices...
Nvidia May Have a GPU Inventory Problem
There are reports that Nvidia might have a GPU inventory problem on its hands. If true, it would explain why Jen-Hsun told the press that new GeForce cards wouldn’t arrive for a “long time,” when other sources we’ve spoken to have implied a much quicker release time frame within the next few months. As always, stories about rumors, inventory levels, and unannounced products should be taken with lots and lots of salt. Say, a GeForce GTX 2080 worth?

This rumor started with SemiAccurate and has been discussed in several other locations. The general claim is that Nvidia overshot its mark on cryptocurrency mining sales to the point that it was forced to take back 300,000 GPUs it had already shipped to OEMs. Nvidia has also pulled out of a talk it was planning to give concerning its “Next Generation Mainstream GPU” at Hot Chips 30 in August this year. In other words, headed into Computex at the end of May, it was expected that we’d see a GeForce launch and technical discussion coming out in the late July / early August timeframe, which is in-line with the rumors we had heard at ET. But now, the technical discussion at Hot Chips has been pulled and there are rumors of inventory build-up related to cryptocurrency mining — and a resultant delay that will push out the launch of next-generation Nvidia GPUs.

I replaced my Samsung CF791 with a Dell AW3418dW. I think I've found my perfect monitor for now. G-sync is the real deal.
