Did a clean out, and refresh on water loop of my PC. New res, new CPU block, all new tubing and obviously a much over do water change (which I actually had to take apart my GPU block and give it a scrub and run cleaner through the rad.

Upgraded my 500GB SATA SSD to a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2. A nice speed upgrade and no worries on disk space.

Sorry for the size.

These were taken last year after a full clean out/rebuild, built in 2014.

Specs:
i7 4770K OC'd to 4.2
16GB DDR3
SSD's 240GB
Corsair H80i AIO Faulty
Sapphire 3GB upgraded to a EVGA GTX 1070
Coolermaster Cosmos case
Kolink 1200W PSU

It's not a bad RIG the cpu still stands up well to Ryzen gen 2 cpu's in Cinebench. I am left wondering how well this will run CP2077 though, haven't got the cash to spend on upgrading it atm. Looking at the PS5/Scarlet leaks accept from Ray Tracing I might be good leaving it a little while longer. :bang:

I've swapped out the TV for a 24" Monitor but still game on it from time to time the picture quality of some Panasonic TV's is f***ing ace.

Just out of a whim I'm updating my computer. I'm going from a i7 4790k to a ryzen 3800x. New motherboard and 16 GB of DDR 4 ram. Still rocking the rtx 2080.

Well, I've finally got around to having a new rig built! My eight year old PC is finally being put out to pasture.

Going with a 2080 Super, 32gigs of Ram, a 512GB SSD and 3 TB hard drive. Going with the Ryzen 3900x too, for the multi-threading.

Pretty excited, and the guy building it is the owner of xgamepc, so he should be pretty good.

Never heard of xgamepc. Local builder?

It's out of San Antonio. My brother's wife is streamer and he built her rig originally. Then he built my brothers. After talking with him he really seemed to know his stuff. He recommended the Ryzen over the i9 because I wanted it for development too

SO ... I've finally got the thing up and running (though I'm having a time getting my old Steam account back up).

I feel like a damn tech glutton right now, lol.

Since my monitors are "only" 1920 x 1200, I'm ultra-ing everything at 60fps- with ratraycing if it's available. I've gotta say, I may be playing me some Minecraft. It's kinda mind-blowing. Picked up the Witcher 3 just to see it with every up to 11 (including hairworks!). The resolution seems to be super sharp too. Not sure why I'd even need 4k on my PC. I'm on cloud frikkin' nine from a gaming perspective.

Thanks man! My internet provider is getting serious workout right now, lol...

Got my Steam account back as well, so I'll be replaying some games like Skyrim and Battlefield 3. Looks like I'll be in the MOD rabbit hole again!

On the lowend side I upgraded from an i5-6400 to a Ryzen 1600 AF for $85. Got a new 1660ti TUF for $220, upgraded my ram from 2133 to 3000mhz. Had the first motherboard go bad though and I bought another one instead of RMAing it.

Finally got gsync working on my freesync monitor. It works a little differently than it did when I had an AMD GPU.

I wonder who that guy was at TXB who would berate me for saying that building a PC was too difficult and that I liked having a console UI and playing with a controller. It's not as plug and play as they made it out to be, especially when you are trying to stick to a budget. However, I don't think I would still be playing games at all if I didn't make the switch to PC. It really does fit my lifestyle now much better than consoles.

I think probably one of the key issues I've had on PC is this consistent stutter or hitching that got progressively better as I upgraded the hardware. First I went from a i5-6400 to a Ryzen 1600 AF then I went from 2133mhz ram to 3000mhz ram. So the hitching and stuttering was less frequent at that point, but still noticeable. So I decided to do a little experiment and unload the XMP profile for the 3000mhz ram and run it alongside my 2133mhz ram for a total of 32gb of ram.

And the hitching FINALLY went away. So I have another 16GB of 3000mhz ram on the way.

Don't believe people telling you you don't need 32gb of ram for gaming. If your games are playing fine then 16gb are enough, but if you are experiencing hitching and stuttering then you might want to look at getting an additional 16gb before the price hike on ram.

Final Fantasy 15 on the PC is what finally made me move from 16GB of ram to 32. That game ate through memory.

If you want that I mean, Steam has Big picture mode which is meant for playing on TV's with controllers and you can literally use Xbox One, PS4, or pretty much any other controller out there.....those haven't been valid excuses for a very, very long time.

It's funny you would say that. People always bring up Steam big picture mode like it's really a substitute for a console UI. I definitely believed it when I made the jump. It's shallow and barebones. It's not terribly unstable like playnite, but if a console UI was this unstable there would be hell to pay.

That being said, I used it for a long while, but between the Epic Launcher and Xbox Game Pass I have abandoned it over the past year or so. It's just too many games to transfer over to big picture mode one by one. Lol, and I was hell-beant against the Epic Launcher too, but I just bought The Division 2 for like $2.99.

Those sales are ridiculous.

Never had a big problem with Steam BPM, and I have my 3rd PC permanently hooked up to my TV. If you want someone to play Division 2 with on PC hit me up. I actually forget my name on there so I would have to wait until later to find out what it is.

Next gen you will most definitely need 32 with these consoles having 16(or more)

16GB of GDDR6 shared graphics memory and they don't have an OS and other programs eating up 6-10GB at any given moment. Then the PS5 is supposedly using a fast SSD for virtual ram as well. I wonder how many games will have no load times on the PS5 and then when they go to port it over the the PC they expect everyone to have these super fast NVMEs. And depending on what Nvidia decides to do with graphics memory they could expect us to have between 16-20GB of graphics memory also.
