Pebble smartwatch

I was considering it. That was awhile ago. I don't think smart watches are "there" yet.

Yeah. That's what I was thinking. But I saw the Samsung smart watch that was announced. 400 bucks and lasts 6 hours of usage. The pebble looks next gen compared to that. I think the screen is what puts people off but if it lasts 7 days without a charge and handles all notications for me, that's exactly what I need.

I don't need much coaxing to get new gadgets most of the time. It sounds cool and looks to have a load of possiblities. I would check out any communities and what they are building for it. At the time this launch, I was very close to picking one up. After putting it off, I'm not as excited. I know I can use my phone for running and other stuff most of the time.

There are already a ton of apps on the play store for it. Once cool one is a location indicator. A directional arrow displays on the screen telling you the direction to a set destination

I picked up a black Pebble watch when Best Buy started selling them in July. I had originally signed up to get one from Pebble directly back in January, but got tired of waiting for them to ship out. I really like it and find it to be incredibly useful. My initial use case was to control my music and maybe get some notifications, but it has become more than that for me and it's nice to see independent developers really pushing it to the limits. I'm using it with my iPhone 5 that is jailbroken on IOS 6.1.2. It seems to work way more reliably with an iPhone that is jailbroken versus one that is not. I've heard that it is better with IOS 7, but I'm not ready to give up my jailbreak just yet. I've always worn a large, somewhat bulky watch, so the size doesn't bother me at all. I don't really want it to wake me up at night, so I shut it off every night and put it on the charger. I haven't ever seen the battery run out and I used it a full week without charging with no problems, although I did continue to shut it down every night. My favorite watchface is Smartwatch+ that shows the time, date, current weather conditions, number of unread emails, number of unread SMS, number of missed calls, and my iPhone's percent of battery remaining. Here's some info: http://smartwatchplusapp.appspot.com/index.htm. You can send canned SMS and emails and push some http commands. Some creative people have it set to control their home lighting systems and other things. I love gadgets, and this has been the best one I've had in a while.

Nice dude. I'll check that out. Good to hear that the practical application of it is is going well. Mine is due to ship next week so hopefully I won't be waiting long. I'm on android but I'm hoping some of the stuff you ,mentioned from iphone is also available for me.
