Who is Plainview outside of gaming and the forums? Line of work, hobbies, etc.
Most know that I’m really into movies. Outside of that, I like being creative. I’m a graphic designer for a career, although it’s boring as all hell now. I research, a LOT, about everything. I love learning. I can never get enough of it. I weight lift though not as heavy as I used to. My body is beat up pretty bad and I just see no need to go heavy anymore.
When I read the title, I thought you meant you'd bolted out of rehab or a mental hospital. That's what AMA means in my world (leaving "against medical advice," or in other words, before the treatment is complete).
One question, eh? Okay, I'll make it a simple one: what's your ethnicity? Sometimes I picture you as an asian guy, sometimes as a white guy, sometimes black, sometimes hispanic. I'd like to get a better picture of you in my head. I was thinking of asking a more profound question (what are your spiritual beliefs), but I'll stick with the simple one.
Whitey. Bradder’s has a good memory. I had gotten into an discussion with TwoBadFish about hand position in a bench press. I had to demonstrate what I was talking about. I grew up with a very diverse group of friends and Motown. A few times I get mistake for being black when people haven't seen me. I'm not sure why, and, whenever I ask, nobody knows why they think that either. Weird
I don’t consider myself spiritual. I grew up catholic, having gone to catholic school. Once I graduated I floated away from church. There isn’t a moment I could pinpoint where I thought, “I don’t believe in a higher being.” It became gradual. When thing’s do go wrong I do look up at the sky and question why. I’m not sure if I actually do believe in a higher being or that’s just how I was brought up. Now, I consider myself a soft agnostic. I don’t really care either way. I do like discussing it. Most friends who are religious consider me an atheist, not in a negative way. They have no problems with it. In the end, I just don’t care enough about it to put much thought into it unless I’m discussing it, or trying to annoy my religious family members.

Will Plainview continue to generously support this website until that fire for gaming has burned out? Will it ever burn out?
I have no intentions of leaving the site. The fire for gaming was burnt out a LONG time ago. The community is what I enjoy more than anything.
Which relationship has been the greatest positive influence in your life? i.e. mother, father, best friend, etc, etc
This is a difficult one. I was going to say my mother, since she raised me. Dad was here but lived with mom. I guess the real answer is, my family. I can’t pinpoint one person in particular that’s more than the others. Both parents are creative. That’s where I got my creative side. Uncles were the athletes, that’s where I got my athletic side. I learned far more by looking at my family and not wanting to follow in their footsteps in certain aspects than I did trying to emulate them. If I expand my life experiences to the second tier of first cousins and uncles and aunts, it gets scary.
What was the last thing you did for the first time?
Tried a THC cracker. Meh.

2. Would you ever meet one of us Unioners out for a night of rabble rousing (namely me)? I could be your wihhheeeing man, mon. Who knows, it could lead you to holy matrimony. I have been told I have that effect on people.

There are females. I think there’s about four right now that are active. I have met a few members of the forums IRL.
Which 2 or 3 games immediately spring to mind when I ask "what's your favourite game of all time?", and can you please tell us your fondest memories associated with each?
Okay, so that's technically two questions, but I phrased it like that to deliberately stress spontaneity when choosing your favs ("immediately spring to mind"), as I think that's more fun and honest when it comes down to it. Associated memories are the real meat of the question though.
Translation into one question: What are your fondest memories associated with your 2 or 3 favourite games of all time?
Street Fighter series, Contra and Mike Tyson’s Punchout.
With the Street Fighter series, specifically arcade Champion’s Edition, I was a god. I was on vacation with a cousin for a month in Florida and I played it at a bowling ally. I was immediately hooked. I could play for hours when people were lined up. I took to it immediately. I got it. I don’t know how, or why, but, I just got the game. I was a big Karate Champ fan and seeing the next-gen of fighting games immediately got me hooked.
Contra was the first game I can remember friends playing together and cooperating. Once we got the code, we’d play it for hours on end continually beating it. It was repetitive as hell but we’d always find ways to make it a challenge. “STOP STEALING MY LIVES!”
Mike Tyson’s Punchout was one the first grind game for me. I couldn’t beat it with ease like most other games. It had a level of frustration that I was not used to. I took me forever to beat Super Macho Man. I got destroyed by Tyson immediately. I took weeks to finally get past him. I was a grind. I heard up a few times and broke a controller. I remember vividly the time when I beat Super Macho Man. When I beat Tyson I was stunned. I just put the controller down and watch the credits. I was a great sense of accomplishment for me.
What game and/or console was an epiphany for you as a gamer, one that gave you a sense of what the future of gaming would be, or that it had arrived. For me it was the N64, and The Ocarina of Time.
Xbox Live, no question. I had longed for an easy way for consoles to go online against other gamers, especially in fighting games. I had tried gaming on my Mac, and PC, but I can’t stand using a keyboard and mouse. So, I was waiting for consoles to make the jump. It’s the sole reason I bought the OG Xbox. I hadn’t really turned on a console in a year when I got my OG Xbox. When I became a first wave Xbox Live beta tester, I knew the future had arrived. I met people that very first day that I still talk to almost daily. I never met them in person but we’ve grown to be good friends.
