I wanna know, what was the game really about? Was there ever a elevator pitch or story trailer where it didn’t just focus on the lead and his dragon pal just fighting baddies for the sake of looking cool.

I remember originally it was supposed to be a young girl and stole strange connection she had with the dragon they were trying to figure out but then they, Platinum, decided it wasn’t going to work

I was looking forward to it but that E3 demo of him just shooting an arrow at a monster for 5 minutes killed it

This game just never seems to go away lol. Like, if this game actually released it probably already be forgotten in the mind of gamers, let alone the general public.

Game gets more attention being cancelled than when it was not haha.

Guys getting roasted.

Many convinced PG stealing money from MS

Yes Platinum stole money from them and then Microsoft wanted to buy them. Makes sense.

The guy could've simply said they sucked at time management, lacked assessing and prioritizing their tasks or failed to create what was envisioned.

They chose silence first, then when people blamed MS: "it was partly our fault" and now we're at: "we f***ed up" and a drunk-like plea outburst to streamers to message MS to give Platinum another chance to make Scalebound.

Platinum Tells Fans To Send Phil Spencer A Letter If They Want To See Microsoft's Scalebound IP Revived
"Phil, let's do it again together"
Pure Xbox6am

Following Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase recently, head of Xbox Phil Spencer spoke about how one of his favourite moments of the entire event was when Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age was announced for the platform.

"It's just an area of focus for us to make sure all creators globally feel like Xbox is a great platform for them and that they can deliver their games to a large global audience. It's an area that our team in Japan has really been working hard on."
Well, Phil, if you're perhaps interested in even more Japanese offerings on Xbox, why not consider reviving Microsoft's ambitious action role-playing IP, Scalebound? Although the original project developed by PlatinumGames is believed to be unsalvageable, in a recent interview with the YouTube channel GameXplain, Platinum director, Hideki Kamiya, and Platinum head, Atsushi Inaba, said they're still open to talking about it.

Here's the full translation:

Atsushi Inaba: We don't think that it's a forbidden topic or anything like that, we're happy to talk about it. Though, the IP does still rest with Microsoft, we do get a lot of fans still that do show interest in the title, and we're always happy to see if there are still people that are really interested in it coming out one day. The fans are thinking, you know like, there was a lot of possibilities, or a lot of cool things that looked like Kamiya might have been able to accomplish with that title, you know. And we also think, man, it would have been really nice to have that kind of opportunity, but it's not for us to say. Kamiya is just adding, if you want to see it again - please, send a letter to Phil Spencer.
Hideki tacked the following line onto the end of this in English, which was followed by collective laughter:

"Phil, let's do it again together"
Given how eager Microsoft is to crack the Japanese video game market, an exclusive IP like Scalebound from a prestigious local developer such as PlatinumGames (known for past hits such as Bayonetta and NieR:Automata) could be a great way to spike some interest.

they could use the slipspace engine, but they’d probably end up using UE5....would be neat if they used whatever playground is using.

I hate it when this thread gets bumped. I get excited for a moment then find no real its back on news.

Thinking about how SoT, Recore etc got received at launch and I can't stop thinking about what a complete mess this game must've been for MS to cancel it while giving green light to those lol

Is it cos they probably can’t read the instructions written in English?
Maybe you're on to something... although I've been playing a lot of japoonese games lately on my Saturn and I must confess, it's absolutely hilariously amazing to watch characters speak unintelligible jibberish and suddenly explode in random actions such as ramming swords into people, kissing each other, spontaneously running away or randomly start blushing while sweating, jumping up and down and screaming.
It's truly amazing.

Of course

I remember watching my brother play that....I think I tried burning rangers but it’s so feint of a memory that it all just blends in lol

they should just remake those, hell in sure there’s indie devs out there that have the games and could easily use it as inspiration

Burning Rangers haven't aged well but a paint job and fixing the controls would be pretty cool.
PD Saga is a masterpiece no doubt, better than FFVII when released imo. Why they haven't remade this is baffling, especially considering they just remade the main shooter series for this gen.... although I guess there's a tremendous more work with a full blown rpg so it might make sense.
