Play n Trade trying to scam me? Claiming Xbox One shortage

So I got a call from the manager of Play n Trade here in Edmonton, he tells me they won't have my Xbox One on launch. I tell him to look at my preorder, I ordered on June 18th. He tells me his franchise has been informed of major shortages and that Microsoft have told them they won't have enough to fill half the worldwide preorders on launch day. I reiterate the fact that I preordered VERY early and he tells me he found out today about the shortage and that he won't be receiving a single Xbone for launch. Best case scenerio, two weeks after.

Take this for whatever you think its worth, I'm just letting you guys know exactly what happened to me tonight.

I'm very suspicious also, Futureshop here advertised 25 or more consoles avalible for walk ins at each store.
Are you at a Best Buy Tavis?

Only explanation I can think of is that MS is ether pissed of at the Play n Trade franchise or they're considered a low man on the retailer totem pole and shorting them.

That would suck if true but MS would be skewered if they were short 50% on power....I mean pre-orders. I think this may be a case of a store taking more preorders than they were allocated and a manager making up a bullsh*t story so that you would direct your ire elsewhere. I could be wrong but....nah.

Its a lie. I work at gamestop we have all 230 pre-ordered consoles and 8 extra.
 
Go down there, get his name. Call your regional cs or corporate = he wont have a job anymore.

Yeah, also in Seattle, so major market in MS backyard. Major Nelson comes in every so often, cool guy but weird.

then you better get over there and Falcon Punch someone. I have seen things like this were someone will pay the $100 to get the PS2 to the salesman profit the $100 and tell the person who preorder that they ran out.

So I went to the store this morning and confirmed I was speaking with the manager previously. Hes sticking with his story that he ordered 50 consoles to cover preorders and have some for walk ins and Microsoft said they're not sending any.

So.... I don't jack sh*t about retailing... how do I escalate this?

District managers, corporate people. Local managers are still hourly lackies... get someone with pull

^ Just called. According to them each store orders consoles directly from Microsoft. MS has "supposedly" decided to ignore them and ship larger orders to big box stores.
I'm taking it dry here guts, and I don't like it. :txbmad:
 
Tweeted Major Nelson.... 1 in a million shot he'll address this. Looks like I'm standing in line with the rest of the shmucks.

I actually think there will be plenty of consoles to be had come launch.
