Popular Mechanics lists the Xbox One as one of the 10 breakthrough products of 2013. That's pretty cool!

Xbox One ($499)

Some products are evolutionary, others are revolutionary. The Xbox One is both. The most notable improvement is the new Kinect sensor, which is integral to the operation of the console. It can see in total darkness, track the fine movements of your hands and muscles, and even sense your heartbeat. Gamers may have taken issue with the Xbox One's price ($500) and paywall restrictions (some features require a $50 per year subscription), but technologically it's a huge upgrade from its predecessor. The platform is so advanced that developers have barely begun to grasp all its possibilities.

In the same league as Rust-Oleum Neverwet Liquid Repellent and the Seiki 50-Inch 4K TV. That's some serious business.

Great recognition indeed. Makes me even happier to know I'll soon be owning one.

that neverwet is AWESOME.. we have the plunger, comes out bone dry.. amazing stuff ;)

On topic... can't wait to get my XB1

That Seiki 50" 4K TV is only $965 on Amazon...am I missing something? That seems like an awesome price and it upscales 1080p to 4k.

Congrats to MS for making a prestigious list!

It's not a smart TV or 3D or anything special like that. I think that's part of how they keep the price down.

The real question is: how many of you will wake up the next morning (after receiving your Xbox One) and forget to brush your teeph!? Dat s***'s critical mate....
I have plans the next day or else I probably wouldn't wake up at all that day.. I would have never gone to sleep.

Here here. Except I'm married. If my wife woke up to me gaming all night and into the next day in the living room, I'd be on the couch for a week not including weekends....

HEY?!?...........WAIT A SECOND!

Not needing to pressone button on your remote to switch inputs b/c you can say "Xbox, TV"? Is it cloud computing and dedicated servers? Even tho COD:Ghosts has been confirmed to have dedicated servers for the PS4 version as well, and Gaikai can serve basic cloud computing tasks too? Again, is it the abundance of apps? Quite a few are behind a paywall (Netflix, Hulu) and are available on much cheaper devices like Apple TV and Roku?

Is it the promise of television series based on their gaming properties? Because surely Nintendo and Sega have never done that before, and Sony doesn't have a ton of film studios capable of the same? Is it streaming content to other devices? Because I could've of sworn that was a selling point of Gaikai, and its streaming games to Vita, smartphones, and tablets.

I'm not denigrating the XBO here; I actually want the console to succeed. I like some of the games coming for it, quite a few really. But let's stop pretending it's doing things that aren't already capable w/ other media devices or won't be capable w/ the PS4. That's fairy tale land, and these systems aren't leaving anything to the imagination. Not going to be Mr. Oblivious here and fall into that thinking.

Maybe they should've mentioned the SHAPE processor. Perhaps mention the ESRAM bandwidth, or simultaneous read/write btwn RAM and CPU/GPU. Those would've validated the entry a bit more (even if PS4 does, again, have that same functionality, just differently).

TL;DR: There's nothing on that current list that validates XBO being there and PS4 not.

he doesnt get it with snap, the whole point to to keep everyting on one input using the system.

Picture-in-picture? Many televisions have that feature. Two different input feeds running simultaneously. If you want sound from one of them, just select the feed. Which, interestingly, is the same case w/ XBO. It won't be playing sounds from two different feeds over each other.

PS4 doesn't need to provide that feature b/c many televisions already have it built-in.

Put it another way: you're willing to spend an extra $100 for a console feature you can easily do already by just pausing your game manually, pressing one button on your remote, and flipping it to ESPN for a quick second?

Her first words would be, "Wow.....seriously?! Really??!? Wow...."

That's one of the things I love about my wife. When she wakes up in the morning and I'm still gaming (having pulled an all-nighter), she usually says something like, "Aww honey you're still playing? That's cute." Then she'll walk over kiss me on the head and says she's glad I can still get in touch with my inner kid. It happens almost every time. LOL.

Yeah that sounds about right lol

I used to do that then I feel it every time she wakes me up where I get only 4 hour rest. so I do now is cut off at 12 am or before that.
Same, apparently I get really ornery when I don't get enough sleep.

Looks like some of the X1 fans made it to the thread to at least say they liked some of the features, notice one person pretty much telling GAF to eff off for trying to tell him what to like and what to buy.

Well this guy getting the wrong information or is out of touch, the whole point was to keep everything in 1 input.

I honestly don't get it. Don't most people have multiple inputs to their HD TVs? I have my cable box and my PS3 on different inputs, so if I want, I can start a download, and then just switch input streams and watch something while it is downloading.
