I noticed when I started up my Xbox that the transitioning between menus it’s much more zippier, seems they shut off the auto play on some of the tiles too.

Streamlined Xbox Game Pass Quests
Xbox Game Pass Quests are better than ever! As this feature rolls out, you will be able to access quests progress directly from the dash and browse all quests from My Profile. Start earning rewards for playing great games, jump in and try out Xbox Game Pass quests!

Mini Virtual Keyboard
We understand that navigating a virtual keyboard can be a challenge whether you’re writing an LFG post for Apex Legends or inputting a 5×5 code for a new game. In order to improve this experience, we are releasing a new mini virtual keyboard option for Xbox One. This new virtual keyboard takes up less screen space, streamlining the typing experience. If you prefer or require the bigger keyboard for accessibility, it is still available and can be enabled in Settings -> Ease of Access -> Magnifier -> Larger Keyboard.

Restart added to Power Center
Based on user feedback, we have added a new option to restart the console to the Power Center. You can now access this feature quickly by holding down the Xbox button on the controller to bring up the Power Center instead of having to navigate to it within the System tab.

Improved Uninstall
When you try to install a new game or app today, we send you to your collection to choose what to remove if your hard drive is full. As of the April 2019 Xbox Update, we will now suggest titles that will free up enough space for your install. To make things even easier it will automatically kickoff the install once the space is freed up!

You can also get to the new Drive Manager page via Settings > System > Storage to easily manage your existing content and uninstall multiple titles at once.

Programmable OneGuide Button on Xbox Media Remote
The Xbox Media Remote is updated to allow the OneGuide button to be reprogrammed to launch a media app instead of OneGuide. This is a great shortcut to jump into your favorite media app and start watching.

Damn... Anaconda sounds like it’s going to be beast. I love that it will be BC with all Xbox One games and all the best 360 games and a few OG games. Huge library off the bat. Not to mention all the new first party studios.

2020 is too far away :(

Anyone else feel a little worried about the future of Xbox? I mean, I'm happy with the X. But the mindshare for Xbox seems to be at an all time low.

I felt similarly about Playstation when the PS3 debuted and really struggled early.

Both situations seemed/ seem to be an uphill battle to fight off the "uncool" stigma.

I hope they have an amazing E3. They need it badly.

I have no idea why you would be, they acquired many new studios, added BC with all of their past consoles, released the X, play anywhere, etc. If anything the future of Xbox is looking better than it ever has.

I dont know. The sentiment towards Microsoft seems very negative. It seems like a lot of people already have their minds made up that those studios will fail.

I need to stop watching YouTube lol.

Negativity, nah, more like a passive “step back and watch before ‘jumping in”. Many seem to be optimistic but again it’s a wait and see, specifically for e3. I believe we won’t get to see what every studio has to offer at e3/gamescon or even this year, a lot of it will be teases for next e3.

Xbox has been pushing every button I wanted in the past year. I think it’s in the best position it ever has been.

You know where it will shine when MS flexing their servers that SONY can't hang. This is where MS must go to the deep end with SONY to drown them.
I am not saying SONY wont do well but this might be a area that they will have the most problem now you have Google and Amazon going in as well.

They might look dated like how when xbox live came out and SONY was so behind.

This is your new Master Chief folks, should be pretty awesome.

So last Tuesday was quite something for sure. I don't think many people saw that coming. I ended up never buying a PS4 after all and now I'm just gonna wait for the PS5. The X will do me just fine.

Anyway, one thing that really stuck out and we need more clarity on that is the no loading times thing. They tested it with Spidey, a PS4 game, but will actual PS5 makes no longer have loading times as well I wonder? If they truly do that, that's a game changer and I sure hope and expect MS will do the exact same. I would be immensely disappointed if Anaconda will have annoying long loading times while PS5 does away with them. Thoughts?

Woah dude. Where the hell have you been?

There’ll still be loading times, maybe worse than what the Switch has, since they’ll be much larger games.

Several not so great things in my life early last year, and I've mostly been following game news and playing some stuff here and there. Sorry for abandoning you guys. :(

Hmmm, ok. So even with that special SSD that is apparently going to be in the PS5, and according to Cerny faster than any PC SSD now, there still will be loading times? People on ResetEra are going to be in for a rude awakening then because I saw plenty of posters absolutely thinking it will be a thing next gen. Sounded too good to be true anyway.

I also believe Cerny never promises that in the article, does he? I haven't yet seen what Digital Foundry says about it.

Bought Diablo 3 Eternal Edition on sale for $20 from XBL. Ended up playing for about 3 hours last night. Originally played this game when it came out for PC back in like 2011 or 2012, really handles well with a controller.

Got a level 19 (so close to 20) Necromancer

I've never understood the passion to have another game console fail. It's like they are hoping the industry will stagnate from no competition to drive innovation,

It's also weird when you see some people who claim to be so happy with Sony, but they cant stop thinking about Microsoft. I guess this country and others need the bad guy in every facet of life.

I kinda sorta maybe skimmed the article, but what I got is demonstration Cerny put on was with Spider-Man showcasing the fast-travel went from 18-16 seconds down to 0.8 seconds. Can’t recall if they mentioned anything about initial start-up load.

Well welcome back. Hope all is well.

To make a long story short, I lost two loved ones almost at the same time. My mom super unexpectedly passed away and if that wasn't bad enough my dog was also about to reach her last stop. So I had to say my final goodbye to them on the same day. Life can be miserable at times. But it's going well now. Got myself a new friend, a new dog. Now we continue and look forward to the great things in life again :)

I also had been posting a little on ResetEra, until I got banned (permanently, sigh) a month ago or so. First they said it was a temp ban of a week and then it just changed into permanent. I was merely asking people in a certain thread to take it easy with jumping to conclusions and always believing everything the media says. To always do your own research too and check facts.

I had forgotten what a terrible place Era quickly had become. They started out fine and quickly became GAF 2 if you ask me. s***post after s***post, people always bitching about anything, always offended about every single thing and if you say something about it and others report you, you'll either get warned or banned. I'm glad to be gone from there, they don't let you speak your mind at all there.

Yep that was quite nice, but it's also a PS4 game, wonder how PS5 games will fare. But let's wait and see. SSD should bring some much needed improvements but they probably won't do away with loading times. I'm sure Cerny has a lot of talent but he can't do the impossible. Even if a lot of hardcore PS fans definitely now seem to think so.

I game on Xbox One primarily because of the Live system and the controller. I will be the first to admit that Sony does have some fantastic games, and in some instances, some better looking... but I don't want them to fail. Hell, I expect to keep buying all game consoles LOL I have owned both through all of the years and don't intend to stop. Both are successful and to wish anything else is childish.

I think you're in the wrong thread, this is the Xbox section, not the crapstation.
Have a nice day 😊

I am intrigued by what Cerny is saying, but I also have my doubts that they're going to have a storage solution that's faster than anything available on PC, unless they're somehow sticking a TB into persistent L3/4 cache or some such. (Or, I suppose, if he's saying it's a PCIe 4.0, which would make his statement true if he's saying that an end user can't buy anything that fast yet - though it has been tested https://www.tomshardware.com/news/ssd-pcie-4.0-phison-nvme,38418.html ).

Fortunately, we know XBox will leverage the power of the cloud so all the gigabits and turribleflops and flippityfloppityfloos you ever need will come straight into your machine from the cloud, without having the intermediary of writing to a disk, so it'll be the fastest fast that's ever fasted.

Haha, sounds like you're not too fond of Playstation. Nah I was just curious about some impressions here. No loading or at least significantly shorter loading times would be a live saver. Man I remember Witcher 3 on base Xbox One, Jesus.

It's starting to sound more and more like it will be Xbox that will have the edge over Sony, again. Unless insiders and rumors are wrong, but they all hint at Xbox being more powerful or at least MS absolutely aiming to be the most powerful.

You mean Xcloud? It sounds promising but right now I am definitely taking the wait and see approach when it comes to game streaming. Google Stadia as well sounds great, lots of nice promises, but will it truly be what they said? Certainly not this year. I don't believe that.

Anyway, a poster on Era that seems to be in the know about things just said this :

The secret sauce that makes PS5 loading speed "faster than gaming PC" is GPU Decompression.

Which have been implemented in Scarlett (I mean, both SKUs).

GPU fits better with parallel jobs, and decompression (to decompress game assets or sth...) is easy to be parallelized.

GPU Decompression is much faster than CPU, about 20+x.

And consoles are lucky to be Unified Memory platform, which reduces the cost of "copying" game assets to VRAM (and more).

The poster is hmqgg.

You might have missed the proclamation: Courier new is the official sarcasm font of UVGF. :)
