Yeah this is how BS gets spread, sadly the Xbox UK twitter said the same thing, they omitted the fact that the 40X stat was about loading speeds.

Agree. Untill Scarlett and 'the other consoles' are released there Will be daily BS and click baiting. And it will continue untill the pixel and frame counting dudes at DigitalFoundry has tested real games at All the new systems.
For me the fast loading times is the most wanted feature. 😃

They were talking CPU, that's realistic for both machines, you aren't going to get a 24TF GPU so that 4X doesn't apply to everything.
When they say stuff like this it is an overall thing. It is doesn't relate to one thing but relates to everything as a collective. Doesn't mean you multiple everytging by 4.

I watched the video again and listened intently at that bit and the guy says"its the combination of the soc and the ssd". Also just to respond to any one believing the latest rumor that ps5 will be more powerful than Scarlett anaconda
Microsoft is claiming 4x Xbox one x performance with hardware accelerated ray tracing, Sony made no claims of the performance gains the ps5 would have over the ps4 except for load times and no mention of hardware accelerated ray tracing.

Nice catch. I watched it closed captioned on Youtube now that you've said that and I see that, even though when I watched live and then listened to the reveal again later I completely missed it.

God the power debates are going to be the worst. Shoot me now.

I don't like this one bit, especially after all those rumors that MS was aiming to be the most powerful system of the two. Maybe it's selfish of me but since Xbox is my console of choice I honestly just hope that they are either on par with each other or that Xbox is a bit more powerful and I'm willing to pay more money for that. If it ends up slightly weaker MS can't justify pricing the new Xbox higher than PS5.

Also, if it's indeed true, I can't see the differences being all that huge anyway, certainly not Xbox One-PS4 or Pro-X. I certainly hope not, it's best if we can finally just close the book on this stuff and just let both be on par. I definitely still intend to buy multiplats on next Xbox, unless the differences do end up huge.

It sounds like the opposite to me. Cerny was talking about a software based solution for RT and Microsoft is talking about hardware accelerated RT.

He never said it was software he said the GPU supports it which sounds more like it's hardware and it's just the way the article was written that seems to be confusing some people. It was an article about hardware not software so the jump some keep making to software doesn't make much sense.

MS would be dumb to lay out the specs and then let Sony counter.

Sony announced the same amount of detail MS did before MS said anything, nobody is laying all of their cards on the table yet but realistically neither one is going to be much more powerful than the other.

To be most precise, in the Wired interview Wired says that the GPU supports it:
"The GPU, a custom variant of Radeon’s Navi family, will support ray tracing"

But in an article that's written as an interview with the guy himself and that surely Sony's staff had a hand in vetting before release, I'll take that as being confirmed until proven otherwise.

The guy has cleared up some confusion about the article before, some took the audio portion of the RT talk to mean it would only support it for audio and he cleared it up and said they were talking about graphics. The article could have been written better no question.

Some probably wanted to believe that the only raytracing they were going to do was audio because plastic warz (like other folks wanted to believe that MS was going to use last gen GPU tech and software ray tracing). I think both companies are going out of their way to put out damn fine consoles, and I can't imagine that either one will disappoint.

The thing that might be the most intriguing part about Anaconda/Lockhart was mentioned some time back, though - the notion that they're using essentially the same APU and then based on how many cores are actually functional, it's binned for Lockhart/Anaconda/Dev Kits. If that is true, it could be a game-changing type strategy - allowing a higher-end console and a lower-end console to be produced at the start and reducing waste - since part of the problem with a single SKU is you can't set the target too high without losing a lot of silicon.

Ignore the BS. It's just the Pony trolls creating FUD.

True but at the same time that also sets up more complications for production, we'll see. We don't even know if they really are doing two consoles right now, could be something they planned on and dropped.

During Inside Xbox, Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed Microsoft's commitment to "respecting the purchases" of its customers and the team's goal to bring every past game over to Project Scarlett, the next-gen Xbox, as well as all accessories.

Furthering the conversation, IGN spoke to the director of the Xbox Platform Team Jason Ronald and Bill Stillwell, the former lead of Xbox's Backward Compatibility team who is now working on Project xCloud.

They both discussed this commitment to bring all games that are currently playable on the Xbox One, including the over 600 Backward Compatibility titles, to be playable on Project Scarlett.

"The team is starting to shift its focus to ensure that all Xbox One games will be playable on future Xbox hardware, including all the Xbox 360 and original Xbox games available on Xbox one today." Ronald said.

As for what will be available with the launch of Project Scarlett next holiday, the team reiterated that "our desire, and our intent, is to deliver all Xbox One games [to the next system], but the challenge is that we have over 3,000 games on Xbox One today. So, we have a lot of work ahead of us, so we can't comment on exactly what titles will be available when, but our intent is to bring all of them forward."

No he didn't, he said they are working on getting them out not that they hadn't started yet, if you don't think AAA studios have dev kits yet you are just burying your head in the sand. Also that video package talked about developers working on the console, if dev kits hadn't gone out yet how would devs offer feedback to talk about? Not only that but he said that Halo scene was "in game" which is why he brought up the dev kits in the first place, that was a cinematic, the jerk is a known liar, he's a marketing guy that's what they do.

They will be virtually the same, neither one is going to be noticeably stronger than the other.
