Next gen I predict more games will be on multiple disc... like Forza 3/4 and halo 3, where multiplayer maps and cars/tracks were on disc 2. It will suck if you have to download said extras and you have no internet

What's the difference really? I mean I'm not arguing that Lockhart should exist. But it's just an extra sku.
Difference is it's another machine to program for.

Id drop xbo support within a year after X5 releases.

Keep support for X with 1080p/1440p versions of XV games.

Drop it's price to $249-299.
Sell XV for $499-550.

Right... but I think Nintendo would quickly axe the lesser version. Or maybe not, there’s three versions of the DS, but I guess that’s forgivable since it’s on a boat with no sails for much longer (in the shadow of the HMS Switch)
No because the lesser is the mini.

Because they are upgrades to an established console, when you are launching two at the same time it does cause confusion and makes it harder to market. It's like "hey here's our weak next gen system vs two that are quite a bit stronger" it just doesn't make much sense IMO.

I could make a theoretical case for it, which might actually be *really* strong, but it's not exactly business friendly. But because it's a fun thought exercise:, the basics:

1. It has to be essentially the same as the Anaconda variant, except with fewer of the GPU cores active. This would mean that they could just build every chip as an Anaconda, but with the chips that don't come out with enough functional cores they can sell as Lockhart instead. This would allow some cost savings as they can both set higher yield targets for the Anaconda in terms of GPU cores and not have the problem of increasing wasted silicon.
2. They need to be able to market it as the Xbox 2: 1080p and it needs to be able to do everything the 4k variant does with no additional developer effort at all - basically, they build the game as they want it to appear on the 4K box and MS is responsible for making that work the same way on the 1080p box.
3. Assuming they pulled those two things out, the other thing I think would have to happen and why I think it never will, they'd need to get people off of the XB1/XB1S and XB1X, removing any concern about the old CPUs holding developers back (at least on XB). And how they'd have to do it would be a trade in plan - any XB1 + $49 gets the 1080p, and XB1X + $99 gets the Anaconda.

Now, that would really only make sense if the yield curve on the silicon is low enough to make the need to limit silicon waste be worth it. I don't know that it's a concern, though.

The Mini is rumored to be basically the same as Switch minus features.

listen, this multiple SKU console was the worst idea ever.
It gives problems to the other older consoles and we are stuck which I have no idea why when PC been doing things ahead for years with different specs.

Yeah but again that's basically a slim, that's par for the course with how most gens work it's just a little soon.

New experiences. Yea sure keep telling yourself that.
Every other piece of electronics has multiple tier skus but for some reason you and a few others believe gamers and gaming consumers are too ignorant to handle multiple skus that we've already had in the past like Xbox 360 20 Gig & 360 no HD, PS3 60 GB HD & PS3 20GB HD, Xbox1, XB1X, PS4, PS4 Pro.
Yes broken games will continue to release no matter if the game is released on a console with a single sku or multiple skus because that is not the reason that devs are releasing broken games.
Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
I am not agreeing to disagree at all. You're wrong. You have this weird theory that just because something is a thing that it is fine, it isn't.

And yes, I buy new consoles for new experiences...if I cared about graphics i would have got a PS4 not X1. If I cared about graphics I would have got an X1X. If I cared about graphics I would be a PC gamer. And regardless of your very narrow mindset Forza 7 is a different experience to Forza 4.

But I'm not toing round and round and so i'nm done.

A Switch Pro eh? I'd love to see one. I would hope it's at least on par with a PS4 then. I would instantly sell my current Switch and get the Pro if that means I get to play Xenoblade at a much higher resolution because Jesus christ, does this game look blurry as hell on my 65 inch Q9FN TV.

Nah, your wrong and you're the one with the narrow mindset.

PROJECT SCARLETT RUMORED TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH OCULUS RIFT S

BY SHAWN FARNER/JUNE 24, 2019 3:38 EDT
Could Microsoft finally be ready to bring VR gaming to Xbox? That's the rumor, according to virtual reality podcast Coffee & VR, which made mention of a potential partnership on its latest episode.

"So we've heard through the grapevine, over on our Discord, actually, from someone we do trust that there may be a tie between Microsoft and Oculus and that they are going to bring the Rift S to the next-gen Xbox," the podcast said. "He's got some good inside sources."

The move would make a lot of sense, in terms of Microsoft finding a way to connect VR to its gaming hardware. While Microsoft has dabbled in augmented reality with products like Hololens, the company lacks a dedicated VR headset of its own. And many believed in the past that VR support could come to Microsoft's Xbox One X console. Microsoft's own trailer for what was then 'Project Scorpio' had a third-party developer touting its VR bona fides, but support never ultimately came to the box.

Project Scarlett, it appears, offers a better path forward.

This wouldn't be the first time Microsoft and Oculus have teamed up, either. When the Rift first started hitting store shelves, the headset actually came with an Xbox One controller included. And given that Microsoft — as far as anyone's aware — still has a stake in Facebook (which owns Oculus), the pairing doesn't sound all that crazy.

Microsoft needs a competitor to PlayStation VR, which Sony confirmed will be supported by its next-gen PlayStation. To get one, Microsoft could either develop its own headset, or team with a third party product that already has a ton of support. Given that Microsoft's Xbox division also wants to grow on PC, the Rift S seems like a logical choice. Whether this all holds true or Microsoft goes down some other road is anybody's guess.

We'll be keeping a close eye out for any more news on Microsoft's Project Scarlett and any steps toward VR the company might take. There's certainly no shortage of gamers who would love to play the next Halo in VR; we'll have to wait and see if Microsoft actually pushes into virtual reality this time around, or if the company is still content watching everything play out from afar.

Having had an Oculus Quest for nearly a week MS are sitting on a few games that could be given a VR re release.
Not just them but several Kinect games could work really well.

Fable the Journey
Rise of Nightmares
Gunstringer
Haunt
Child of Eden
Fantasia music Evolved
Star Wars
Kinectimals

Plus a lot more that got released on XBLA

Really hope MS support it next gen.

Xbox Next : Jason Ronald: Xbox Scarlett was developed to eradicate technical bottlenecks

cF7MmIo.png

The new Xbox Scarlett console will eat monster for breakfast, and especially bottlenecks and bottlenecks for developers will be eradicated.

At E3 2019, windowscentral's colleagues talked to Microsoft Gaming Team Lead CVP, Mike Ybarra, and Partner Director of Program Management, Jason Ronald, to tick some more interesting details about the new Project Scarlett Xbox console .

Ronald talked about how Scarlett was designed to eliminate bottlenecks in terms of graphics and frame rate, and to make sure that games on the Xbox Scarlett run best. "Plays best on Xbox", will be the motto of Microsoft in the next generation.
Jason Ronald said, "If we look at the overall design of the system, everything from the system on chip (SOC), through the memory we have, to the SSD we have built in there. It's really about eliminating all these bottlenecks so that game developers can realize their vision, and enable developers to create the best possible versions of their games. "Ybarra then pointed out that it was for the team It is very important to say "Where to play games best".
At the same time you have also talked about the possible price and made it clear that you know very well what a reasonable price for a console.
Jason continued, "We understand the reasonable prices for a console and what customers expect from it. At the same time we are innovative, we push the limits. Today we do not share details about the price or, as you know, any more detailed specifications. But I say that we are very confident that what we are building is something that will set a new bar for the expectations of console games. "
Although not much is known about the new Xbox Scarlett console, but with the support of Ray Traycing, a built-SSD and other top components, the next generation of consoles will still be a costly entry. Or what do you mean?

Good news for Xbox One owners who use YouTube TV. You can now enjoy the newly updated YouTube TV user interface. Back in May YouTube TV started to test an updated user interface with a larger preview screen and more channel suggestions. Google’s YouTube TV team confirmed that this feature is being tested as part of a “phased launch experiment.” A few weeks later the tests stopped and the old preview screen and channel suggestions returned.

- side note, the YouTube app on the x has been working flawlessly (for me) for the past few weeks, no more weird pauses or image loss/noise

If nothing else, I'm impressed that accessories from the Xbox one will work with Scarlett. I don't think that aspect gets enough praise.

I just hope they don't make the mistake they did with Xbox One as in how it doesn't support every headset you can imagine. I have been looking for great wireless headsets and when I finally found them I found out that they are only fully wireless on PS4 and PC and still need a cable to that damn controller adapter thing. I don't understand why so many of these wireless headsets really aren't wireless at all on Xbox. I don't know why MS did this.

I’m not a fan of wireless headsets, I’ve heard, with the PS4, my guess is the Bluetooth connection. My guess with the Xbox is they have to use MS’s proprietary WiFi that’s used for their controller, it may also be lossless with sound quality and why it eats up batteries when a headset is connected to one
