I thought this game was supposed to be launching a beta during the launch of The One?

Microsoft and Team Dakota have begun inviting fans and creators who have registered on http://projectspark.com to participate in shaping one of the most anticipated games of 2014 with the “Project Spark” Beta Program exclusively on Windows 8.1.

Since “Project Spark” was announced at E3 in June, hundreds of thousands of fans have signed up for the closed beta, which has begun rolling out today. Starting exclusively on Windows 8.1 and available to fans on Xbox One early next calendar year, registered beta participants are welcomed to a dynamic community where players create and creators play. The beta for both platforms will continue until the product launch next year.

“Project Spark” is an endless adventure where everything is customizable. Jump into an open world sandbox where players can create their own games, movies, stories and more and then share them with family, friends, and the world.
  • Play what other creators have made and take part in unlimited adventures.
  • Make games while playing with the revolutionary Crossroads mode.
  • Bend, shape, and mold worlds with sculpting and beautify creations with paints and biomes.
  • Master the easy-to-use brain system to add behaviors to anything and bring creations to life.
Sign up today for the beta at http://projectspark.com.Be sure to watch the “Project Spark” Facebook page for the latest Beta updates, follow @proj_spark on Twitter, and tune in to the Twitch.tv streams for a deeper look at how communities are building, playing, and sharing creations in “Project Spark”!

So when is the beta expected? And if there is no beta when is this launching?

Is the beta open to all people that want to try it?

No you have to sign up and be chosen right now. I think The One beta will be open though and that comes in January.

Any one receive an invite?

OK thanks. Really want to try this out. Looks cool.

Here is the replay from the Twitch feed from yesterday. Still watching it myself since it is an hour long. Also these feeds will be live for the next couple of days at 12pm PST.

You also might want to check out the Project Spark Forum as well.

Ok, after watching this is going to be an extremely deep platform to create on. I don't know about previous creation games but this has just about every ability that I can think of.
  • The grid is the blank slate where you are able to place objects and create the actual world you play in. This is pretty standard for level editing type games.
  • You can give weight to almost any object that is placed on the grid or in the world. They used a group of boxes to show how you can have physics based characteristics when the boxes were pushed over or other objects were knocked into them.
  • The ruler allows you to lineup objects (trees, mountains, boxes, pretty much anything) and also make things a certain height. The ruler looks to be scalable so you can make it smaller or bigger for the different objects you are placing on the grid. You can also layout multiple rulers as well.
  • Character strength was very cool. They demoed the ability to give your character a type of Jedi push and you could dial up or down the strength of the push. It allowed the character to push enemies either a ten foot distance or when dialed up blow them half way across the field of play.
  • Item lighting and characteristics can be independently tuned as well. The Spark team showed how you can take a simple cylinder and turn it into a light saber with independent lighting. This means that when the saber turns on the environment around it is illuminated by it. You could also add sound effects when swung and also different hit characteristics as well. You will also be able to texture the weapons and give each weapon more detail.
  • The actual editing system was very robust. There were literally thousands of different objects and ways to create things during the game. The video showed templates for all kinds of physical creations (Snow, Desert, Mountains, lakes, rivers, trees). Saving looked like it is cloud based and it gives you the ability to allow other users to access your creation or keep them locked for your own use.
  • P2P features look like there will be credits you can earn or buy to create certain things within the game. It was not real clear what all the costs will be but I am sure that will be updated as time goes on.
  • Platforms looks like you will be able to play and edit on a number of devices including The One, PC, Surface line of products, and any type of MSoft device. I have a Surface 1 so this will be very interesting to me. If I can create on my Surface while traveling and then play while at home I will be one very happy Panda.
I will try to update as I see more of the Twitch feeds but so far I must say I am super pumped for this game. Just hoping to get a beta key for more in depth analysis.

I registered for it a few months ago, but for Xbox One, cause little did i know they would delay the console here.

Day 2 of the Twitch Project Spark Beta Feed: Its All About The Brains

This episode focuses on giving intelligence to enemies, objects, and even the hero. Kind of long but there is a surprise at the end.

These guys who do the Twitch feeds need to mix it up a bit. They do essentially the same type of "game" every time.

Edit: Also, 4387N - 1872J - J7LK4 - LK2K0 - 70540

I would agree, but I think they have to build up to something.
Man you spoiled the surprise. ;p

Now I have to find a reasonable copy of Windows 8 upgrade to take advantage. I knew I should have snagged a key when they were selling dirt cheap at launch.

lol I'm not good at keeping secrets

i like the look of the flying game and the skeleton fighting game.the ryse one at the end made me laugh.

This game looks awesome and the possibilities of what can be created really has me excited.

The side scroller one where they could zoom out looked pretty good, and the Ryse "clone" was pretty well done.

I believe, though not 100% sure, that you can create games with Kinect support.
Kinect is supported. Flipping through the video, start at the 25 minute mark. It looks rough around the edges, but the feature is there.

I forget which vid (it was an old vid way back), but I do remember a guy demonstrating using hand motions to move around the map or zoom in out and stuff like that.
