Just mocked this up in paint, I'm sure I'm not the first to think of it.

Legit thinking of making one for myself using a cable and just some plastic I can cut and glue to the male mini-USB piece I cut out.

The light is actually bothering me. It's very visible on the bottom of my TV, and while I don't necessarily notice it as a "blue light on my screen constantly" with the changing colors on the screen it looks like I'm seeing a graphical glitch of sorts out of the corner of my eye.

Hmm, yeah, good idea. I'll bet someone comes up with something like that.

The light is a cool novelty at first, particularly during the day time. In a completely dark room, it's terrible. Much too bright, serves no purpose whatsoever. I really hope there was at least some Sony exec that fought against it. If not, they're all "go with the flow" jackasses. Terrible idea.

Guess I'm lucky as the light doesn't reflect off the TV for me. I can see the green light from KZ on my finger tips out of the corner of my eye but doesn't bother me.

You have a plasma TV?

My gf loves the light and thinks it is so cool. I dunno wtf is wrong with her lol.

I reckon they should make a piece that magnifies the light to blind everyone. :D

Seriously speaking, yeah being able to disable it would be cool, though I understand they use the colors for different things.

This. Cant see it until I turn off all the lights and now I cant "unsee" it. Just let me turn it off in settings.

Or just give users the option to turn it off like the should?

Then you lose any indication that the controller is on, or any other indication the light might give.

A small gap between the controller and a "shade" could allow the indication to be seen by the user but still block it from your TV.

I don't understand how so many of you have your TV's mounted so low. The center of your screen should be eye level ideally and you should (if normal) hold your controller at waist level. That would mean that the average height person 5' 10" would hold their controller at approximately 35 inches below eye level. That would mean, assuming TV is mounted at eye level, the controller would be on a plane below the TV for every size under 70". Me personally, I also angle my controller downward as I rest it in my lap, further removing any chance of me shining the light onto my screen. Of course everyone holds their controller differently, and my math is far from scientific, but I really don't see why so many have an issue here.

I dunno.. it's just.. an issue. My TV is at apprxoximately eye level.. maybe slightly higher actually.

I'm 6'4", so when I sit on my couch my knees are higher than my waist.. my hands resting on my legs near my knee certain'y don't "angle the controller down" in fact they angle it slightly up if anything.

Can't imagine how anyone would angle their controller down in their lap unless they have really short arms.

Yeah, make the inner surface mirrored, and angle it so it reflects the light right into your eyes. It'll sell a million.

Or you could put black electrical tape over it.

Yep, that was my quick fix. I don't care to see any light from the controller, period.

I think it comes down to your overall room lighting. I prefer it pitch dark so I can get the most out of my projector... any sort of ambient light has a negative impact on the image(loss of contrast, etc.).

I see this being a big enough issue that sony will have no choice but to address it, hopefully sooner than later... the ds4 is a fantastic controller otherwise.

So then an option to dim them. LEDs handle dimming.

But get your idea in cad and start making a prototype. Corner the market. Hurry!!!!!

The light doesn't bother me, but if it did, I would consider this: http://www.amazon.com/LightDims®-LightDims-Original-Strength®/dp/B009WSJNCW

I bought these to dim blinding bright blue LED lights and the largest one would definitely be big enough to cover the DS4 light. I don't know what the adhesive is, but it doesn't seem like something that would leave any residue. Anyway, you can buy this from Amazon and support UnionVGF.

Excellent MS Paint skills, Bunz. I spent a good six minutes trying to figure out what I was looking at.

It's a great idea though. You should contact MadCatz and demand royalties.
