Hoow quick do games install from a disc on a non pro PS4?
You do realize that this site was born off of TXB right? Sorry there isn't a Sony bias here.Well, my decision to #walk away from gaming didn't last long. I discovered that I need some form of escapist entertainment. Most of my life is pretty much "on purpose," even if it's not necessarily serious. The issue there is, I need something to provide entertainment and distraction -- an "escape" from real life, so to speak (don't misunderstand, I'm enjoying my life quite a bit, but everyone needs a break from reality now and then).
I don't do many of the things "normal" people do, to escape/entertain/distract -- I don't watch TV; I don't have cable; I don't subscribe to Netflix or Hulu or any of that; I don't watch movies; I don't use much social media; I don't read fiction. Apart from Youtube and music, I don't have anything that just provides an entertaining distraction. I found that I needed that, and gaming is a good way to get it.
So I re-bought a PS4. In addition to what I just mentioned, I specifically wanted to play The Outer Worlds, which is coming out next week. It's the kind of game I enjoy, and we haven't seen anything like it for a while. I also knew there would be other games that I'd want to play eventually (e.g., Death Stranding or TLoU2), so I knew I wouldn't be able to hold out until next gen.
I changed my gamertag and wiped my old FL. No offense to anyone, of course, but I wanted a fresh start, and I'd never played with anyone on my FL anyhow. I'm not an MP gamer, and my PS4 isn't even online 99% of the time. You're welcome to add me back, if you like. New tag is Humdinger58.
I spend most of my time at GAF lately -- more people, wider range of opinions, more attention to games that interest me, less Xbox bias, less Orange Man Bad, fewer enemies (ha), etc. But I'll drop in here occasionally, just because.
Anyhow, I figured I'd let you guys know what's up.
Looking at the sections on here and a his comments, he has a valid point. Xbox has double the threads and 3x the discussion within them. The PS section is like a ghost town sometimes. So , for a hon xbox owner it makes sense to go somewhere else most of the time.
I never said he doesn't have a point. I am just saying this site was born off the remains of TEAM XBOX.com. So I am not sure what he was expecting.Looking at the sections on here and a his comments, he has a valid point. Xbox has double the threads and 3x the discussion within them. Sure I do. I was a TXB member since before it was TXB (MS Xbox, I think it was called). I was a part of the transition here. So don't give me your sarcastic lip, lol.
Well, I like having you around, man...Sure I do. I was a TXB member since before it was TXB (MS Xbox, I think it was called). I was a part of the transition here. So don't give me your sarcastic lip, lol.
Btw, let me apologize to you for calling you a fanboy in the other thread. It would've been better had I said, "I'm tired of listening to you say PS Pro is '1440 machine,' I've heard you say it half a dozen times and I'm annoyed with it," rather than call you a fanboy. Unfair of me.
As for "what did you expect," I'm not saying it surprised me. I just listed that as one of the reasons I don't visit here as much anymore.
It actually used to be more balanced in the past, or at least there were more PS-leaning members to provide other perspectives/fun. Most of them have drifted away over time or been banned. I can count the remaining ones on one hand, and several of them don't post regularly. The forum has shrunk in general, and it's my sense that the breadth of perspectives is much narrower than in the past. So I've felt increasingly isolated, like I'm just talking to myself and maybe three other people. Originally, I wanted to stick around to keep the PS side of the forum clean and well-stocked, but I don't feel like doing that anymore.
Anyway, that's probably more of an explanation than you wanted, but there you go.
p.s. The reason I'm explaining why I don't visit much isn't because I think anyone particularly cares, and certainly not to create any "look at me, I'm leaving!" drama. I'm hardly an attention-seeker; pretty much the opposite. It's just that, last time I left (a couple years ago), I saw some bogus reasons posted about why I left, so I wanted to at least get my own version on record this time.
It's sad that forums are a dying breed. I am sure Xbox forums will be next. I am not a fan of social media outlets for discussing games. I hope Plainview never shuts down Union.
Beginning 27 February, the PlayStation.com forums will no longer be available. We invite you to continue the conversation via PlayStation.Blog, Twitter, andInstagram. For product support, please visit the support site, Playstation.com/help/
Discussion on gaes via social media....Does that even happen? I never see it happen Twitter.
You know things like 'the game sucks' doesn't count as discussion?Holy crap. The game discussion on Twitter now is overwhelming. I am following so many devs and companies and gamers and it’s non stop there.
Yeah the “game sucks” people do suck. I will see if I can remember to find out which ones I follow and post them here. You know things like 'the game sucks' doesn't count as discussion?
I have a bunch of games and devs followed on twitter, but see very little actual discussion.
I tried to explain already about the repetition and intent, but it's not worth going through again. Some people get it; some don't. That's fine. It's trivia. What’s wrong with saying the Pro is 1440p machine? It pretty much is. And that’s fine.
