Walmart seems to be having a sale on PS4 controllers. Went there looking for something else and ended up coming out with a steel black PS4 controller for 46 bucks, they had a bunch of colors on sale.

Now that Facebook is discontinued I tied my twitter account to my PS4 for my screenshot uploads. I did it all on my PS4 using the prompts. I then got an email after I clicked on finish on my PS4 that said “New login to Twitter from Safari”. And the device in the email says Safari.

So is the PS4 using a Safari engine for the browser?

I love how it is faster/easier to use Twitter to upload stuff rather than taking a USB stick and copying the files that way. 21st century problems :)

PlayStation launching new independent developer initiative, led by Shuhei Yoshida
"Today, SIE also announced a new company initiative led by PlayStation veteran Shuhei Yoshida and focused on celebrating external developers that are creating new and unexpected experiences for the gaming community. Reporting directly to Jim Ryan, Yoshida will leave his role at WWS to concentrate on our diverse community of independent developers, ensuring they have the tools, technology, and services to reach PlayStation’s large community of gamers successfully.

“I am thrilled to announce Shu Yoshida as head of this new initiative. Everybody knows just how passionate Shu is about independent games – they are lifeblood of the industry, making our content portfolio so special for our gamers. These wildly creative experiences deserve focus and a champion like Shu at PlayStation who will ensure the entire SIE organization works together to better engage with independent developers through a culture of supporting and celebrating their contributions to PlayStation platforms,” added Ryan "

Sounds good to me!

Damn, they made Shu the new 'indie' guy now? That's weird considering how successful he was with damn near everything this generation.

Meanwhile, Ex-Guerilla is kind of a weird choice to lead WWS.

Not really strange at all, they are putting Shu in charge of indie stuff because they are adding an additional focus on that again, if you remember during the PS4 launch when he was interviewed he talked a lot about indie games. He seems really happy about it and I've seen a lot of indie devs on twitter happy about it as well. Plus the guy has been doing the WWS stuff for a long time, I'm sure it's a refreshing change for him.

As far as Herman Hulst, I've seen nothing but praise for him being put into that position as well. He did a great job with GG, Horizon was a huge hit for the studio and I think he'll offer a continued focus on games with global appeal. Sadly people keep blaming GG for what that a****** Phil Harrison did when he lied about the CGI trailer for Killzone being gameplay, that wasn't their fault but they are still sort of held accountable for his lie by many. Thankfully that jerk is hyping up Stadia now and isn't anywhere near Sony or MS anymore.

If these shuffles results in them putting out another good system with great games next gen, continue executive musical chairs.

Yeah Jim Ryan talked about this in an interview and was saying how things are running smoother with their new focus vs trying to get consensus between several different areas.

Looks like I will be joining the PS4 community this holiday season.

I can not wait to get stuck into GT: Sport.

Gunna be picking up God of War, Horizon & Spider-man aswell.
PS4 Pro?

Anybody here used the Turtle Beach Recon 150 headset? Need a cheap headset with half decent sound.

Just got 2 years of PS+ on Amazon for $24.88 each, not sure how long it'll last but go get it while you can, according to the people on resetera it's North America only. I picked up two years, I'm good until 2022 now.

Imagine what gaming might be today if Nintendo wouldn't have forced Sony to go out and make their own console.

Can you imagine that? Can you imagine what gaming would be if MS didn't make the xbox?

Hard to imagine what might have been.

Or how different the landscape would have been if MS had bought Sega before the launch of the original xbox.

Or if MS bought Nintendo

*edit to add below

Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo for 25 billion dollars in 1999

When Microsoft offered the deal back in 1999, former president of Nintendo America, Minoru Arakawa, originally thought that this was a joke, but once Microsoft had detailed their intentions Nintendo was taking the offer seriously and the discussions began in Japan and lasted over 6-7 meetings. Microsoft's deal was that Nintendo would stop making consoles and instead make games for the Xbox. But in the end Nintendo's CEO at the time, Hiroshi Yamauchi didn't like the idea and believed that Microsoft lacked the understanding of the industry. The chances of the offer being taken died shortly before the GameCube's launch.

It is easy to assume all these things are positive because we have witnessed the effects of them, but MS buying Sega could have led to far greater things.

PlayStation blog post comparing how many polygons were in PS2 games vs PS4

“The Kratos model for the new God of War was created from scratch with the intent of pushing the technology of what we have done before at Santa Monica Studio,” says Rafael Grassetti, art director at Santa Monica Studios. “The geometry was made with a higher density from most of the games because we were going to explore things like muscle deformation systems underneath the skin and we needed enough geometry to drive that information.

“Kratos from God of War 2 (PS2) had 5,700 polygons for his entire body, 1,200 of those for the face and used five textures. Kratos from God of War 3 (PS3) had 64,000 polygons for his entire body, 5,700 for the face, which was already a big improvement. But compared to what we can do with the PS4 system, it is still not enough for what we wanted to accomplish. The Kratos for God of War (PS4) has 80,000 polygons in total, with 32,000 for the face – 30x what we had for the PS2 models.

“That allowed us to create systems that could deform that geometry and achieve a level of detail for the muscles that we couldn’t do before. On top of that, we used a combination of layers of normal maps for smaller wrinkles and pores that we weren’t able to use in past generations because of the limitation of textures. Kratos (PS4) uses over 140 textures.”
