PS4 launches in Japan on Feb. 22 (this Saturday). Should be interesting.

On Feb 21, they're having a launch event, which will be livestreamed:

"Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia will host a PlayStation 4 launch event at the Sony Building in Ginza from 10:30 p.m. on February 21, the company announced.

"Sony Computer Entertainment president and group CEO Andrew House, Japan Asia president Hiroshi Kawano, and Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida will be present at the event. The first Japanese PlayStation 4 consumer will be handed their console directly by House and Kawano.

"The event will feature a number of notable guests, who will touch upon the appeal of PlayStation 4 with gameplay exhibits and video letters. Guests include:

Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid V director, game designer, and producer)
Shinji Hashimoto (Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III producer)
Naoki Yoshida (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn producer and director)

I think it will sell very well in the 1st month or so, & die down fast. Last I heard, they are not so muvh into cvonsole anymore, beside Japanese AAA game development have dropped significantly for the past 6-7 years, & most Japanese do not play Western games that much.
 
I plan on importing a Japanese console and sell it back to them for 600,000 yen just in spite of them. The Japanese will suffer my wrath.
 
I've read over and over that Japanese pre orders sell out really quickly once they are opened up, of course nobody knows how many pre orders they were allowed to take either. It'll be interesting to see how well it starts off there.
 
I don't know what the sales will be like, but I know the gifs will be a lot less interesting than the European ones. In Europe, there was pandemonium and people falling all over each other. In Japan, it'll be people standing patiently and politely in line.

Don't ever underestimate the Japanese. They know kung fu and will damn well make use of it to be first in line. That and the Japanese are freakin' bananas. Just freakin' bananas, man!

When you said Europe, do you mean Germany, because that the only clip I see that have people rushing to get the console. But I can tell you its not normal.


Anyway, its not that crazy anymore when you think about that's like one of the few days where PS4 are available.

Yeah, I know it's not normal. Just system launch craziness. I was just saying we're unlikely to see that here.
