To be honest though, Sony need to make it compulsory for any game that has a digital version.

Battlefield Hardline, Far Cry 4, LittleBigPlanet 3 and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, along with 11 other titles will be available to pre-load on the PlayStation 4, Sony Network Entertainment digital distribution manager Chieh Chen announced via the PlayStation Blog.

The feature will be available as soon as June 24 with Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark; all games available for pre-order after May 20, 2014, will also pre-load. It requires the PS4's 1.70 update.

"Automatic pre-load on PS4 allows you to download pre-ordered games before the release date, so you can get into your games after they're released faster than ever," Chen wrote. "We all know that some of the biggest games can take a while to download, and with the pre-load functionality, you'll be able to download and install those huge files up to several days in advance. And don't worry if you forget: any titles you've pre-ordered will be automatically pre-loaded and auto-downloaded to your PS4 system by default."

The full list is as follows:

  • Battlefield Hardline
  • Battlefield Hardline Deluxe Edition
  • Bloodborne
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  • Destiny
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition Deluxe Edition
  • Far Cry 4
  • Infamous First Light
  • Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare
  • LittleBigPlanet 3
  • Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
  • The Order: 1886
  • Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Bungie's Destiny was the first PlayStation 4 title to be announced with pre-loading support, though Sony told Polygon it was "considering" the feature as early as March.

Stores usually sell games days before release date anyway so I don't see myself using this too much. But it's a cool feature.

Awesome feature for those who do digital only. I pre-order physical copies for the discounts though!
