Latest rumor on Twitter seems to point to xbox being 12.4 tf with the ps5 around 8.9 tf. Also seems that ps5 bc and ps account migration are going to gimp what's already weak specs.

8.9 NAVI TF's is not exactly weak what so ever.

Interesting, this is an article from 2018 saying the PS5 would ‘probably be delayed’ from it’s supposed 2019 release due to a parts shortage:

PS5 Expected to Release in Late 2019 by Japanese Firm, but It Might Be Delayed Due to Parts Shortage

Osaka-based firm Ace Securities expects PS5 to come next year, but parts shortages might be an issue. Talks Sony's financial performance.

August 19, 2018 12:20 PM EST

There has been a lot of discussion within the industry on when Sony will release a successor to the PS4, to the point that misreported statements made some believe that the PS5 won’t come before three years.

Analyst Hideki Yasuda from the prestigious Osaka-based firm Ace Economic Research Institute doesn’t think so, as he mentioned in his recent report on Sony’s financial performance.

Yasuda-san mentions that at the present time Ace believes that PS5 will come at the end of 2019. That being said, Murata Manufacturing and TDK have expressed concerns about the tightening of the worldwide supply and demand chain of monolithic ceramic capacitors (MLCC), and have indicated that it could be it as a future risk for business.

Cars equipped with large numbers of MLCCs are being introduced in the market, and the arrival of 5G mobile services caused the arrival of more and more advanced smartphones. This casts doubts on whether it’s possible to produce gaming consoles with a sufficient supply in the large quantities required by a new launch.

Due to that, if there are issues in the supply of electronic components, Yasuda-san thinks that the possibility of a delay from the end of 2019 exists.

Another interesting area of Yasuda-san’s analysis is on PlayStation’s performance in the past quarter. Ace believes that the strong results weren’t just due to first-party titles, but also influenced by Epic Games’ Fortnite. According to the firm, its microtransactions have reached a scale in which they can make a contribution to the revenue of console manufacturers.

Ace Economic Research Institute is revising its full-year forecast for Sony’s Game & Network Services segment to 2.18 trillion yen in revenue and 250 billion yen in profit. The revenue forecast is slightly higher than Sony’s own announced outlook.

The firm believes that the issues faced in the past by Sony’s video game business have been resolved by now. The home console market has sparked concerns in the past due to a sharp contraction caused by the expansion of the smartphone game market. Yet, the launch of the Nintendo Switch attracted the attention of many customers to the console market, causing excitement around the world.

I highly doubt either console is less than 450 dollars. Last gen was not even close to being cutting edge hardware. Remember they severely cut corners by using extremely cheap netbook/tablet CPU's, cheap laptop 5400 RPM drives, and relatively low end GPU's, they are doing with a desktop class CPU this time and also going with SSD's out of the box (likely NVMe or a custom solution), and much more modern GPUs on a cutting edge process (7nm)

While price is important (if people can't afford to buy it what's the point?) I still don't believe that people don't put graphics as the top priority, what's the point of a new gen? You can save even more money and stick with what's already out there if you don't care about how games look lol.

Judging by that survey, people don't really want a new gen lol

I think the release of mid gen consoles has definitely lessened the appetite. I’m pretty happy with my One X tbh. Could definitely live with it for a couple more years. With Xbox not supporting VR, I’ll more than likely pick up a PS5 first as I’m looking forward to Sony’s new VR headset more than new consoles tbh.

I'm ready for a new gen, the One X does a good job of prettying up games meant for a 1.4TF machine but I want to see something built from the ground up to take advantage of what the console can do in every way.

Pretty much everything comes down to price in the end.

True, and if both consoles are equally expensive then it becomes a question of bang for your buck.
Let's say both systems are $499.99 at launch. If you plan on getting both that is $1000.00 USD before taxes. Studies show the average American (don't know how it breaks down in other countries) doesn't even have $1000 in their bank account for emergency situations.
I feel like this coming generation is going to have a bigger divide among loyalists than ever and cost and affordability more than anything will be the prohibitive factor. Even the chart up above alludes to that point.
Interesting times ahead.

psvr-2-controller.png

The patent for a ‘Controller Device‘ (spotted by UploadVR) shows a device capable of tracking the user’s fingers, similar to existing VR controllers from Oculus and Valve.

According to the patent, the controller described can detect “the proximity or contact of a finger and outputs a finger detection signal indicating the state of proximity or contact of the finger.”

In theory, this would allow users to ‘grab’ in-game objects by grasping the controller, similar to how existing VR controllers work.

On the front of the device are four face buttons and what could either be a fifth larger button or an analogue stick.

TLOU became I masterpiece solely because of how it handled story, gameplay was mediocre. Still one of my favorite games of all time. Gameplay prob stil mediocre and don't want to story to be spoiled, so imo the less they show before release the better.
Game will be a masterpiece.

I thought the gameplay was average at best. Story is great though. I am getting TLOU2 for the story and the lesbian sex scenes. Already got my KY gel ready.

TLOU 2 isn't a day one game for me... especially with the PS5 coming (not knowing how Sony is handling PS4 exclusives on PS5) and no multiplayer (my favorite feature of TLOU)

it’ll play on the ps5 via bc, but I feel ya....they’ll probably rerelease the game for it after the multiplayer is completed and give it a few graphical updates/stabilization.
