Yea but games load so fast so all that time you spend waiting to load will be gone which gives you more game time to finish games so who needs all that space in the first place, plus most people only have a few games going anyway. /s

Neither next gen console has enough storage, the Series X basically has room for 2 more AAA games than the PS5 that's it, we are going to see benefits that far outweigh the drawback though. Xbox owners can look forward to an ES game where you don't have to wait several seconds every time you go in and out of a cottage or building, none of us should have to worry about 2 minute initial loads for Rockstar games and hopefully after devs have more time and only need to worry about making games from the ground up for the fast storage we'll see higher levels of detail all over the place at a distance etc.

It'll be 3-5 games depending on the size, but yea definitely not enough storage, I think the ps5 will be enough for me as I will be using it mainly for exclusives but for most people they will need external options or fork out to upgrade the internal storage.

PSU: What makes the upcoming title from Striking Distance Studios only possible on PS5?

Mark James:
I think that we at Striking Distance, we’re always trying to get the best power out of every console we work on or piece of hardware we work on, whether it be you know a PC or PS5. So I think, you know, we always try and get to that fidelity and that kind of display, so you don’t feel cheated if you’re on one console or the other.

So I think that’s it; haptics is another great example in sound design. We can start to use this controller now to put small audio-based vibrations in the environment. So if I’m walking through an engine room, I can not only hear the engine room. I can have that slight rumble in my controller, and that’s going to make me feel as if I’m in there as well. And those extra pieces of feedback really enable us to add to the player experience. So I think they’re the things that we are going to add. We’re going to try and make our game, the best experience and whatever platform, but I think there are some features particularly on the PS5 that are really gonna add to the experience.

Mark James: So I think the haptics are great. Again, one of the key pillars of our game is this immersive, combat and action. If there’s any time we can add to that emotion with control of feedback, that’s great. We can do things like we can sample the ambient audio as we just discussed and then make sure that ambient audio, it comes back in the feedback. We’ve got a high fidelity speaker now on the controller. So when you put local sounds like a door slamming mod or a shout, we can put that next to you, which is great for the player.

Anything that’s a local device, like a communicator or something that feels local to the player. We can now use that space. So I think there are lots of things in the controller. And then, of course, you know those triggers, say for example if you’re utilizing a gun or any kind of ballistics, we want you to feel that trigger squeeze. So we want you to feel that feedback as you go through that. If I hit something with a melee weapon, I want to be able to feel the impact and I can do that through the triggers. So again, it just adds that feedback loop to the player that actions in the game are having these vibration reactions or trigger feedback reactions as you’re going through.

PSU: What about the improved motion sensor in the controller?

Mark James:
Absolutely. So one of the things that was used for in particular, first-person shooters and even current generation is that sometimes they would actually start to work out that we tend to move our hands before we move our heads. It’s actually something we naturally do. So sometimes you can get pre-camera movement by reading the motion on the device. So if we’ve got that extra input, we can actually start to direct the camera, maybe towards an area and assist that rather than the player turn the camera. We can actually assist the camera in pre-turning that I’ve given you a subtle hint because you’ve already given us that hint on your hands.

It’s just super smart. I’ve used it in a couple of games before as well. You see from my history, I used to work for 2K, and this was a great way of in PSVR, utilizing movement. Because it’s actually very difficult to move the camera around in VR. It makes you feel sick. So if you can use the light bar on the controller, and move people in that direction to start with, it gives a great hint. So definitely I can see much more control and positioning use. Now we’ve got the cycles to do this.

800 ÷ 3 = 267....
That's some huge ass games you're installing lol

Certain PS5 Trophies Will Be Tied to Digital Rewards

As you can see, earning all the star objectives for the Bronze Trophy called the “Rookie” will reward the player with a profile banner, while completing the Gold Trophy “Wreckognized” will grant the player a profile avatar. Big difference to how it was on the PS4, it seems Sony will be granting these Trophy-specific digital rewards even without a Platinum, and it’s even mentioned in the Trophy itself!

PS5'S fan will be adjusted with firmware uodate

“Various games will be released in the future, and data on the APU’s (Accelerated Processing Unit) behaviour in each game will be collected,” Otori revealed. “We have a plan to optimise the fan control based on this data.” Further context from 4Gamer.net adds: “PS5 has three temperature sensors on the main board to control the fan speed based on the internal temperature of the APU and the highest temperature of the three temperature sensors. These fan control parameters will also be updated via online updates.”

I meant 3-5 games more then the PS5 as opposed to 2 more games.

Not likely, most AAA games are going to be at least 50GB (likely more) and you are only getting around 135GB extra space on the Series X over the PS5.

That can go bad.

"Part of the reason for that is, historically, our processor CPU and GPU frequencies relied on some heavy-duty guesswork with regards to how much electrical power games will consume, and how much heat will be produced as a result inside of the console.

"Power consumption varies a lot from game to game. When I play God of War on my PS4 Pro, I know the power consumption is high just by the fan noise. But power isn't simply about engine quality. It's about the minutae of what's being displayed, and how. It's counter-intuitive, but processing dense geometry typically consumes less power than processing simple geometry. Which is why I suspect why Horizon: Zero Dawn's map screen with its low triangle count makes my PS4 Pro heat up so much.

"Our process on previous consoles has been trying to guess what the maximum power consumption during the entire console lifetime might be. Which is to say, the worst-case scene in the worst-case game and prepare a cooling solution that we think will be quiet at that power level.

"If we get it right, then the noise is minimal. If we get it wrong, the console will be quite loud for the higher-power games. There's even a chance it might overheat and shut down if we mis-estimate power to that length."

When I heard boost clocks I told people I didn't see the PS5 lasting a whole generation and then when I heard Sony was using the unproven LM cooling it makes me even more worried.
Now rumors of heating issues don't surprise me but I wanted to be wrong.

I will be looking to trade up asap to a sleeker or Pro model.

Don’t all consoles change fan speed(s) already? From Cessna loud to 747 with afterburners loud on my ps4 pro

Not in this way. Sony already set the clocks to variable frequently, but they can now tweak this even further right down to the time you spend on that game.

“Let’s say you have a thermal interface [жидкий металл] 10 yen and a heat sink for 1000 yen. If you spend 100 yen on liquid metal, you can achieve the same effect as a heat sink for 500 yen. Simply put: the total cost will be less. “

“Liquid metal is a good conductor and if for some reason it leaks onto nearby components it can cause a short circuit. It is also highly corrosive to aluminum used in the manufacture of heat sinks. Because of this, we had to take appropriate measures in the production of components. We spent two years on this. ”

LM is young and unproven.
We don't know if it can last for years.
The only test I am aware of was for a year and it was ok but the tester said he was unsure of the long term life of it.
