WTSF, it doesn't come with a way to recharge it?! Also, a mic on the damn controller?! Hope you like hearing clicking, brushing up against fat gamer stomachs, and Doritos crumbs falling out of fat gamer mouths directly onto the controller.

Friggin' Sony, guys.

Friggin' Sony, guys.

It has dual mics for noise cancelation. PlayStation camera has the same thing, and when I am doing video or voice chat, it doesn't differ too much. So it's definitely not like having a single mic.

I have a launch PS3 in my guest house, it's obnoxiously huge and heavy.... Couldn't imagine them making a bigger console, guess I was wrong lol
Dude, Shawn cracks me up. Someone could say they opened their PS5 box, lifted out the PS5, and it crumbled into pieces all over the floor.....and Shawn would say that Sony had the foresight to have the PS5 break into recycled pieces that would disintegrate into mother earth much faster, saving the lives of our Great Great Great Great Great grandchildren.

He's still calling them impulse triggers with rumble. LOL! I see now why he didn't get a VIP pass.

Anyhow, i posted a few pictures about the mic awhile back. It's just funny hearing him finally noticing it. This particular patent by Sony shows what's planned for it for the future and I think we've already saw some of it with the text-to-speech feature:

SegementNext discovered the patent, filed back in February but published on Monday. It details the array of microphones, which features at least three mics built into the controller. These mics work together to cancel noises from the environment and isolate audio from the user specifically. Multiple microphones work in the same way that a human’s ears do to identify positioning of sound using the timing of the vibrations reaching the ear. With Sony’s intense focus on the audio experience on the PS5 itself, it makes sense that some of that R&D would also translate into the mic array built into the controller.

The patent seems to suggest that use of the onboard mic array won’t be as much of a disaster as it seems. Hypothetically, if everything works as the patent says, it should eliminate things like players’ TV audio or music coming through chat, isolation the audio to just the user’s voice from behind the DualSense.

There’s also some thoughts that the DualSense mic array is for more than just voice chat, with patents last year hinting that the PS5 might have a kind of voice assistant. The PS4 does have some limited voice interaction functionality, but it largely goes unused. Having the mic built right into the controller could provide Sony with just what it needs to invest further in this feature.

Custom PS5 Faceplates Already Up For Sale From PlateStation5; Get Blue, Matte Black, Chrome and Red

platestation5-custom-ps5-faceplates-outer-shell-indigo-blue.png

Someone must have gotten their hands on the PS5 outer shell mold and dimensions, because one third-party seller is already selling custom PS5 faceplate designs to be delivered to you by PlayStation 5 launch day on November 12th. PlateStation5.com is offering five custom colors for the PS5 outer shell:

  • Limited Edition V1 Matte Black
  • Chromatic
  • Cherry Red
  • Jungle Camo
  • Indigo Blue
The site says it was started from the community’s desire for a matte black PS5 shell, but as they started setting everything up, they were encouraged to offer additional customization and color options. Each set of custom PS5 faceplates (comes with the full back and front shells, or top/bottom, depending on how you orient the console) runs $39.99.

....and so it begins.
There will be a ton of 3rd party options. People are going to 3d print stuff I bet. I love that.

I would be wary of anything not officially licensed simply because the stand has to snap onto that bottom piece and I don't want to get something cheap and have it break.

I'm waiting on the engraved designs. I think we'll see these when big budget titles start falling.

Call of Duty's New Zombies Onslaught Mode will be a 1-Year PlayStation Exclusive

A new Call of Duty Zombies Onslaught game mode has been announced for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but don't celebrate just yet — this new co-op game mode will be exclusive to PS4 and PS5 for the first year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be launching in just a few weeks and players are excited to get into the next game of the franchise, especially with the reveal that the Zombies game mode would be returning in the new game. Now, it's been revealed that Black Ops Cold War will also feature the Call of Duty Zombies Onslaught game mode, but not everyone is going to get to play it right away.

What is Call of Duty Zombies Onslaught?
As CharlieINTEL reports, Call of Duty Zombies Onslaught will be a 2-player cooperative experience. Both players can select from a number of the game's maps and try their best to fight off multiple waves of incoming zombies. Naturally, each successive wave will be more difficult than the last.

You can be equipped with various different weapons from the game — good news for those who don't want to have to grind in this new game mode. A "Dark Aether" orb will confine players to certain areas of the map; once the wave is conquered, the Dark Aether orb will move and players will have to transition to a new location for the next wave.

There's one question that's still up in the air — will players be able to escape in Call of Duty Zombies Onslaught? Call of Duty recently made a substantial change to Zombies by allowing players to escape from the Zombie horde and extract from the level. Unfortunately, it's not yet clear if escaping will be possible in this co-op game mode.

nah, they just weighed it as a whole, box and packaging. But I wonder who weighed it, the console

As usual, someone took what was originally said out of context is what happened, and I'm thinking it was due to a dig at the system rather than making sure that they got the information correct.

I don’t think it was a dig, more like he’s under embargo and couldn't unblock it at that time, so he did the next best thing. Besides it’s Geoff Keighley he’s got strong ties with Sony
