If Xbox didn't start pay to play online then playstation would of started it at some stage too, costs too much to maintain, both are pretty cheap per month so it's not really a big issue.

Ps3 online was garbage compared to Xbox Live.Nope and PS3 online is proof.
Price is good for both but one has superior offerings

The PS5 is still selling better than the XSX/XSS globally but yes I believe Sony is focusing more on US and UK at launch this gen, two of MS's biggest markets.
They are doing better with the PS5 launch than the PS4 launch this gen. They have been adding tons of value compared to what they were doing with the PS4.

My next game will be Ghost of Tsushima. Was on sale for $40 and have to check that out. Of course I downloaded it and didn't launch yet, but the sale is ending soon. I still need to finish up AC:V (or just punt on it but I think I'm close).

I was thinking of getting GoT but decided to hold. I still have God of War and Spider-Man for big games, plus plenty of others.
Spiderman Miles Morales is on PS4 also, so not exclusive to PS5.
It's crazy to me how little they're pushing Returnal at this point. It's less than 2 weeks away, and it's getting less marketing / advertising than some indie games.
If you're going to force the $70 price tag on gamers, do something to earn it. Also, don't royally screw over a great dev like Housemarque like this.

They may be discussing altering PS Now in some way but they won't be launching new games on a subscription service and Jim Ryan has explained why that doesn't work for them several times but the media just keeps pushing this narrative that they need to combat game pass. They always forget to add that a very large portion of GP games are from the xbox 360, most of the xbox one games are older titles and it's really a lot of filler. MS hasn't done a good enough job adding new content from their first party studios and once that does start to happen I expect the price to go up because costs will have to be recouped.
Sony won't do that because they mostly make single player story drive games that can be finished in a month, they don't focus on MP or games as a service so people would just sign up for a month and then cancel. Look at the 3 AAA games MS has released in the nearly 4 years since GP launched, they all have a big multiplayer focus (2 racing games and gears 5) and then you have a game as a service in Sea of Thieves which launched with virtually nothing to do and took months to actually make it worth playing for any length of time. That's the kind of thing you have to focus on with a service like GP, without retention the service is going to bleed money so you need to find ways to keep people from leaving. As it is now it's not making much money for them and that'll have to change.
PlayStation will eventually have a real Game Pass competitor and the Sony faithful will change their talking points accordingly and proclaim it the greatest thing ever.
We will see. Because of $70 games I predict PS5 will have the lowest attach rate out of all PlayStation consoles. That will also result in lower engagement. The end result is not good for gamers, games, and developers.
Most XSX gamers will buy $70 games as well as less than half of XB games across ALL platforms use GP.

Will probably be the same for the XS consoles and Switch/switch successor as they are all selling at the same price. Not just a PlayStation thing.
It’s not like they lost the source code to their own hardware...maybe in their new partnership they could get help with software based emulation
Why do xbox fans keep wanting Sony who's perpetually in 1st place to follow MS who's a distant third? MS is doing this because they can't compete otherwise in the gaming space and they are trying something different. Gamepass isn't even making much money right now.
A good idea is a good idea. Discounting it because a company is viewed as inferior is childish and nonsensical. As a PS5 owner I want high quality, affordable games and you better believe I’m going to call out cash grabs by a company that brags out record sales of their games all while raising the price of games to bankroll their first party efforts at the expense of AA development. I own a PlayStation console. Not Sony stock.
