PlayStation will eventually have a real Game Pass competitor and the Sony faithful will change their talking points accordingly and proclaim it the greatest thing ever.
It wouldn't be too hard for them to make PS Now something really worth subbing to and I am not sure why they don't but if we mean putting their games on there day 1 its probably something they would only do if their sales were hurting

A good idea is a good idea. Discounting it because a company is viewed as inferior is childish and nonsensical. As a PS5 owner I want high quality, affordable games and you better believe I’m going to call out cash grabs by a company that brags out record sales of their games all while raising the price of games to bankroll their first party efforts at the expense of AA development. I own a PlayStation console. Not Sony stock.
Why is it a good idea? Most people who buy PlayStations do it for the exclusive first party AAA story driven games, you won't get that with a GP system there is no motivation for people to stay subscribed with games that can be finished before the renewal is up. MS isn't going to focus on that, Phil Spencer has said several times they aren't going to try to compete with Sony in that way (story driven games) other MS execs have said they'll be focusing a lot on AA games which is basically going to be filler for the service and when they do start actually putting out AAA games here and there look for a lot of them to have a big multiplayer component or micro transactions although I'm sure those will likely be all cosmetic kinds of things but they need something to keep people subscribed and single player story driven games won't do that unless you release new ones every month or two and nobody can handle that kind of output.

Your last line there is a silly way to think about it, the financial health of the company is what keeps them making the games we love to play. If Sony didn't bring in what they do on those big first party games they wouldn't be in gaming to begin with. MS can waste money right now because they bring in so much from other areas, they could drop xbox tomorrow and the company would probably be better off for it financially. Sony doesn't have that luxury, PlayStation is their biggest money maker and while Sony is a healthy company now it wasn't that way a very short time ago. The bottom line is GP isn't a fit for Sony and it's yet to be proven if it's even a fit for MS they just have the money to take a shot at it.

Oh and that Sony doesn't do AA narrative nonsense needs to stop, they have been releasing AA games every year including this year that's not their focus though and it hasn't been for a long long time but they still do make them.

And yet they followed them at charging for online play.... maybe if they all shut up they’ll make ps+ like gp
PS+ won't be like GP because a huge portion of GP is xbox 360 games and you won't have PS1, PS2 or PS3 games downloadable so it's just not going to be the same service even if they did that.

As far as charging for online play that's the biggest favor MS could have ever done for Sony, they showed them that people would be willing to pay for online and that's one of the big reasons PlayStation started bringing in so much more money. Sony was giving away "free" games with online before MS was btw so they kind of follow back and forth lol.

The only bottom line I worry about is my own. Not Sony’s. Record profits, record sales and higher prices shows their priorities. I want gaming for everyone. Not for only those who can afford it.

Your stance of "gaming for everyone" is pretty naive. I definitely would have preferred having the same game prices as last gen too but admit it, gaming is a luxury, it's not a necessity like food or shelter.

It's a business. All gaming companies whether it's MS, Sony or Nintendo want to make as much money as possible. It's a delicate balance act between maximizing profits and consumer benefits/value.

So free consoles for everyone right? I'm sorry but that's a silly way to think about it, this isn't food or housing it's as Mangos said a luxury and while I want everyone who wants to play games to be able to it's the cost of entry that keeps a lot of poor people out NOT the price of games. GP is going to kill the used game market for xbox fans and that's going to be hard on lower income gamers for sure.

I'd also say enjoy the $120 a year price while it lasts, MS doesn't plan on giving away AAA games for $10 a month, GP is going to go up in price once they actually start adding first party content on a semi regular basis you can count on that, they aren't doing this for the little guy, in fact MS is one of the most anti "little guy" companies there is when it comes to competition. They are playing the long game now because they are being allowed to throw money around, at some point they'll have to actually start bringing serious money in.

They followed because to match(they actually surpassed) a service like XBL it could no longer be free.
MS followed them by giving free games 🤷‍♂️

No need.
They rule console gaming without such services.
With it's high quality PS "exclusives" portfolio you guys don't really want Sony to make a serious GP competitor or it will be the death of GP.

Rumors of Nintendo working with MS are rampant as they both know how serious the PlayStation business is.

I know some are saying GP on switch, it's just going be GP streamed through xcloud on switch, xbox games can't natively run on that hardware.

Sony is winning. Sony doesn’t have to. Gaming is a luxury. And the end result of that mentality is higher prices because a company knows they can get away with it because their fans will rationalize whatever they do as the correct strategy.

It’d have to be streamed, either through xcloud or from an Xbox, but it’d have to be through wifi only, unless they tether their phone or other device to it (the switch)....and the games even at 720-900p will be huge when compared to switch games.

How big is fortnite, apex and the Witcher on switch?

Everything goes up in price over time.

I spent more than $70 for Street Fighter 2 in the early 90's.

I agree especially about game price increase which isn't justified at all but somehow I doubt you were too critical of Microsofts bad moves through much of the last gen

Why didn't you go buy an Xbox Series or Switch or gaming PC since you're so against what Sony's doing? You purchasing a PS5 goes against what you're saying because it's supporting Sony's cause. If you're not liking what Sony's direction is heading towards, why did you support them by buying a PS5?

Do you already have a Switch and Xbox Series console?

Just wondering because I rarely see you posting something positive about Sony.

Hey PS5 owners:

I don't really re-play my old games at all so doesn't affect me but if it's just a simple software update like that article implies that can fix this, Sony should do this.
So it's implied that your old games that you paid $60 gets wiped.... And your fanboy reaction is that you don't care because you don't replay games....wow.

That's the risk with digital and why I prefer physical. You always own your physical games. And yes it doesn't affect me because I rarely play my old games again because I sell them back out after finishing them. The digital games are in my library but once I've beat the game, I don't go back and replay it after. I have no regrets since I already paid for the experience.

Besides, that's a very worst case scenario. I highly doubt anything like this would happen unless Sony is no more. Then the gaming world probably has an even bigger issue to worry about.

I watched a few videos and did some reading about the battery issue. Apparently the problem persists with physical discs as well. But I read the CMOS battery lasts a good while, well beyond the expected life of the console. I know some people like to hold on to their systems for a really long time. But if your PS4/5 stops working after more than 10 years I'd say it was a really sturdy and well built console..

Exactly, this is really a non-issue for the life of the console.

The only people who would be affected by the CMOS battery is if they manually removed the CMOS resetting the whole thing. Noone would do this unless it's for science.
