I doubt they want $4 billion just for the services of developers. Even if they had 2000 devs, you’d be paying $2 million for the services of each developer who could just walk out at the end of their contract. No way they asking that kind of money without licences included.
yeah it doesn't make sense they have to be including all the franchises for that price.

Cerny went over that in the "Deep dive" but some people either didn't hear it or have forgotten about it. Some acted like they only went with that strange number because they were too cheap for a 1TB SSD which is not the case at all, they'd have spent less doing the fairly standard 1TB set up that XSX has.

There is very little real world difference in storage available between an 825GB SSD and a 1TB, it's going to be like 3 games worth of space. If you want to expand the SSD you'll need to get a drive that's probably faster than the one they included and it's going to have to fit in the bay that's built for it.

Jim Ryan already said the digital and the disc based versions of the PS5 have the exact same specs, there is no larger storage option there, one is just missing the drive and will surely be offered at a lower price.
Point still stands.
Sony has a major problem with game storage which can easily be resolved with a bigger SSD sku.

It doesn't block them tgough. That is tge whole point of Xcloud.

I don't know how licensing works when buying a company. But 4 billion seems like alot for a few dev studios alone.

Xcloud is just playing xbox games on other screens not other platforms, that's like those people who were saying Spider-Man was coming to PC because you could stream it from PSnow, it wasn't a PC game it was a PS4 game streamed to a PC in lesser quality than you'd get playing it on a PS4.

Easily? it would likely add too much to the cost, the last thing they want when they are launching new console that's likely to be more expensive than the last one was at launch is another $600 option, wait for costs to come down and then upgrade the size of the drive and keep the price of the console the same. It will probably take longer for that to happen though. Anyone who owns an external HDD can store their games on that and move them back and forth to the internal SSD so it's really not as big of a deal as you are making it out to be.

825gb(less will be available for use) is not cutting it no matter how you slice it.
A optional bigger SSD sku needs to be available and makes sense.
Who knows if Sony is getting ready to announce a solid external solution but if it's not ready the above makes the most sense.

It be stupid for anyone to buy them without getting those rights.

They don’t need those IP’s. They need talented studios. Everyone has been complaining about new IP’s. If they get to keep all those IP’s all we will get is more of the same. If they just get the studios that allows all of them to work on new projects. WB will partner with the usual suspects to ruin all their IP’s they want to keep.

The one IP I know they would keep for sure is Mortal Kombat and that studio can do the MK x KI that everyone has wanted.

They have already addressed this, they talked about how it was going to be handled in the deep dive when they first went over the specs, there is no question here. Every drive size has less actual available storage than advertised, 1TB drives don't actually give us access to 1TB of storage either. I know it's an odd number but it was necessary for the way their set up works and cost, doubling the size would add a significant amount of money. We can already use external HDD for storage and even play PS4 games from if we want to, you can swap games back and forth and eventually replace the included SSD with a 3rd party SSD that Sony has verified to be compatible.

Bruh
No and how does it's design look like a dust magnet?
Dust magnet...hard to clean...whatever. You're not going to be able to easily just wipe it clean, you're gonna have to clean out all of that nonsense flap things and whatever tiny vents that are in there.

I’d rather Tencent than MS. 4 Billion seems like a hell of a lot and I think MS would be better off opening more studio’s from scratch for a fraction of the asking price for WB games. If Tencent buys them, we’ll still get to play the games anyway regardless of platform.
You'd rather a shady Chinese company like Tencent buy WB game studios than MS? No. Just no.

found it!

Somebody take it out back and shoot it!

Yeah, it also look ridiculous on its side. There is an appeal to its simplicity, but it works much better as like, an obelisk which even has that floating illusion because of the bottom lifting it up. Looks lame on its side.

I’ll be honest I don’t know much about Tencent bar the fact they own Epic games and a lot of other studio’s. I was more making the point of I think Xbox would be better off spending the money elsewhere and we’d still get to play WB games if they’re third party.

Nobody does know much about them, and I think that's kinda weird. They are like this silent mega Chinese corporation, and I'm just not 100% into the unknown aspects of the control of big US WB properties being headquartered there. Just to be clear, I'm NOT xenophobic... just apprehensive, given what's going on internally with certain aspects of their government, not the people... The rate this corp is snatching up western properties makes me a bit uneasy.

If I ever got one I'd have to use it that way too, neither of these consoles would fit on my tv stand if they were standing vertically, plenty of room the other way though.
