I don't think 120 is going to feel much different than 60, I'm sure it does compared to 30 but 60? I'd rather get better visuals.

I definitely agree with that. If anythig, it was always the resolution that i would easily choose over framerate. If they can clock it at 30fps and design a the worlds better, i am easily in favor of that over a shoe box- type level with a high fps.

Defend what? they never gave a date or even said a word about a show in August at all, it's crazy to call something that was never announced a delay.

Ideally consoles should have options for max frames, max graphics, and a balanced presentation option. If they lock the engine's physics and gameplay calcs to 30 then naturally it can't happen, but games play better at higher rates and look better at lower ones, and everyone should have some chance to influence which side of the spectrum they experience.

I keep reading Sony is buying timed exclusivity for games formerly associated more with Xbox, I really don't know which games those would be though.

I haven't heard about the Xbox part of that but Jez Cordren specifically mentioned Final Fantasy 16

Hopefully Tomb Raider. Rise was the only reason I ever bought an X1 in the first place.

That guy has been "breaking news" he's already heard from YouTube videos or seen tweets on for a while, unless it's coming directly from MS I don't think he has any other sources. Final Fantasy almost always is timed exclusive to PlayStation so that's not a wild guess on his part.

I was thinking it was related to a shooter as DOA doesn't seem to be pulling the same weight it once did, and Ninja Gaiden being totally non existent. I want to say that it's Battle Field but COD was always known as an Xbox face over PlayStation. Whatever the case may be, i know either shooter is going to be insane if the haptics and adaptive triggers are taken advantage of. And if Sony has secured a deal like this, I'm betting it was partially due to those features in the DuelSense.

Options are fine as long as they don't center the game around such a high framerate unless they absolutely have to. That's the issue i have.

DOA still my favorite fighter, wish they didn't overdo the controls with all breaks etc but still my number 1.
If Sony put their devs on Ninja Gaiden magic could happen, Black and 2 are pure masterpieces imo.

Why hopefully? How does timed exclusivity for third parties help anyone?

In PlayStation's case, it would definitely be due to the controller’s capabilities and maybe even the HMD as extra R&D has to go into these features over simply making the game standard across all platforms

I hope it's nothing timed exclusives are awful and there's already too much on both sides already. Especially better not be BF haha.

So Phil Spencer or whatever his name is has another reason to whine about how exclusives are bad for gamers, yet he's done it in the past with RoTTR and other games. The guy is a real comedian.

I don't like it either. I've learned my lesson to not buy a console for one exclusive ever again.

Exclusives give reasons to own a particular device.
If you could buy every PS exclusive on PC.... PS console sales would plummet.
I understand the impact of exclusives, but hoping a game doesn’t come out on another console for six months to a year doesn’t really help your console of choice as much as it does annoy others.

I think it helps to a small degree but it's not as important as it used to be and it's outdated thinking and a practice that I wish both companies would just stop participating in. MS still does it btw but Spencer has done a good job of speaking out of both sides of his mouth so some people believe he's actually above it all lol. The only way I think a timed exclusive can still make a big difference is if it's a HUGE game like say the next GTA or something along those lines and that just won't happen, Rockstar/take two likely wouldn't do it and even if they would Sony would have to pay so much to make it happen it wouldn't be worth it.

Sony already had the marketing deals with COD for most of this generation though.

Sorry, but I'm a hateful bastard. PS5 isn't my console of choice, and neither is the new Xbox. I'm just a mean person.

the frick, it cost Sony a hundred bucks for a Blu-ray drive that they probably make themselves??? You’d think they’d have a price advantage there...

*edit to add below*

that’s one pricey remote though, better have dualsense or even singlesense haptic feedback

Nah IF they do knock $100 off for the digital one it's because they'll make more money per game sold since every game ever purchased for the digital console will be through PSN, it also gives them a lower priced option in case MS tries to undercut them.

Well, the most important thing to take from this is that these are just place holders until Sony announces the real price.

Second, manufacturing cost has Sony roughly around $450. By Sony removing the drive, they shave $50, not including things like advertising and such, which brings the console closer to the $400 mark. This is why i say Sony may be using the customizable skins to also get some of that money back. Then again, maybe they plan to be even more aggressive than that. It's hard to say.
