Bottom line is they went with the guy they thought would make the most money, we've already seen the Nathan Drake you are talking about in the games doing those things, it's probably easier to go with a younger actor who's hot right now as well as multi talented vs trying to find some other nobody to fit the part. All of the people I've seen suggested are too old and anyone in the right age range is going to be controversial because there is nobody I can think of at least who really would come across a real life Nathan Dre looks wise.
And that's why these movies usually suck. If Nathan Drake isn't Nathan Drake then what's the point? The property is popular for a reason. He may as well be a person because he is distinct and consistently written.

Probably because they are going for mainstream appeal. After the Spiderman and Avengers movies more people know about Tom Holland than Nathan Drake, Uncharted, or most other candidates for the role who would have fit better.

I can understand that and it makes sense. But from a fan of UC, the character, as played by Holland, doesn't look believable. He looks goofy, and dare I say a bit more feminine. Polar opposite of Drake in the UC games. To me it would almost be like trying to cast Holland for John Wick. Just not believable as the character.

I still say Mark Wahlberg would have been better as Drake than as Sully. And no, Holland couldn't pull off Sully either.

The exact same thing happened with the movie American Assassin which is based off the Mitch Rapp books by author Vince Flynn. Mitch Rapp's character did not match that of Dylan O'Brien. Fellow fans of the series mentioned a bunch of actors that could have pulled it off better, and they truly would have been better.

And with that soapbox, I will be watching it on day one because I love Uncharted.

Yeah, I agree. I don't like it either, but this just feels like a situation where they wanted to find a movie for Holland and Uncharted was coming up so they just put the two together.

Ironically, Walberg was set to star as Drake. But the project was stuck in development hell and as time passed the studio felt he aged-out of the project mostly because they are trying to start a franchise with sequels. So he opted for a supporting role with producing credits. You might be surprised just how many film/TV projects are produced by Walberg.

I'm not a Holland fan as Parker/Spiderman and definitely not as Drake. Who knows, maybe he can surprise me. But his take on Parker/Spiderman is not something I enjoy. I can't stand his squeaky voice as he comes running in yelling Mr. Stark...Mr. Stark and when he's suited up as Spiderman he's just too scrawny without the lean muscle I feel the live action character should have. But I'm in the minority since people seem to love Holland's take on the Marvel character.

I may very well be terrible most video game movie adaptions are but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until I see it, Holland is a talented guy.

oh yeah, and honestly the first time I saw the trailer, I didn't even realize Wahlberg was Sully. No mustache. On Sully....

I'm guessing that's Cloe and Nadine, too? They all look like children pretending to be adults. I don't buy any of them. Bad casting, imo. I'll keep an eye on it, but I am not hopeful.

What's the best use of 3D audio on the PS5? Am getting the pulse headset today I still only really have spiderman as a proper PS5 game.

I don't believe that tweet said best exclusives it said best year and when you combine the exclusive games with the rest it's true. Better 1st party launch/first year games than PS4 and better 3rd party stuff than PS4 had and there were some good launch window games for PS4.

If wolverine shouldn't be counted because it's so far away neither should Fable 4, ES6 hell maybe even the next Forza as that's still "early in development" it's stupid to not count announced games, you know they are coming and it's not like a Wolverine game is going to be cancelled.
