does xbox one support 2160p for retail games or xbla games or movies and videos? and what hdmi revision does it use for the in and out slots?

i doubt 2160p simply because, like the 360, it will be targeting TVs, not PC Monitors. Heck, not even my TV res is supported on 360. Its one of those weird 16:10 ratios and I have to select the 1360x768 res. I also cant imagine how prevalent 2160p would be in the next few years. I bought my TV after the 360 came out, and when 1080p was only on high-end TVs.

2160p aka 4k is the latest resolution on tv's, so im talking from the pov of tv's only, not monitors. i saw a lot more 4k tv models the other day i visited a toshiba outlet. in a couple of years, market penetration is bound to go up more. i just want to know if x1 is capable of supporting this resolution for any type of game or media.

Yes it does... Now what content will be available is a different story. You will probably be able to watch 4K Blu Ray 1st before Video Games

It will support up scaling to it but not native 2160p output from what I remember. That's a butt load of pixels

"Thus, it’s likely that the Xbox One will “support” 4K gaming in much the same way that Sony is likely to do so — via hardware upscaling. Whether that upscaling will be handled by the GPU or offloaded to the television is unclear, but native 4K resolutions aren’t going to happen this go-round in any sort of comprehensive fashion. The fact that Sony has taken 4K gaming off the table altogether tells you all you need to know — in this case, brute force matters, and the PS4 would be the platform to take a shot on the resolution if it made sense to do so."

I will be disappointed if Magic the Gather 2014 does not offer 4k resolution.

Didn't Magic 2014 release a couple weeks ago on 360?

I have no idea, been playing the 2013 free with gold version. Finding myself a bit addicted actually... With delusions of becoming a Magic the Gathering shark at cons's and what not.

X1 fully supports 4k, but the shipping port is HDMI 1.4 (like PS4), because 2.0 wasn't ready in time, so even if a game was running at 60fps natively, the port couldn't handle more than 30fps.

We will definitely see a few games this gen which support 4k, but don't expect much from them.

“We are really excited about that too. I am sure your audience knows that 4K is the next big thing. Xbox One is a home entertainment system that is built for future. It supports 4K gaming and entertainment. In fact we are shipping an HDMI cable that is 4K rated. So when you get your HDMI cable out of the box it is 4K rated. We are looking forward to bringing 4K capabilities to our consumers in the future, but it depends on the developers,” he added.

Future proofing and providing support for 2160p for your console is always good because these consoles would have a lifecycle of 8-10 years and 2160p displays/projectors will strike down in prices in the next few years. Though even if we get some small indie games at 2160p on xbox , we won't get to see 60 fps with them for the reason flynn stated above, hdmi 1.4 spec doesn't have the required bandwidth to carry a 60 fps 2160p signal. hdmi 2.0 is needed for 4k 60 fps resolutions and both these consoles went into mass production before the hdmi consortium officially released the hdmi 2.0 spec, which was in early september this year.

Good point on HDMI 2.0 @Flynn, @ren of heavens.

At least for being thorough on the tech side.

But definitely just tech spec talk at this point. 4k games are questionable as is, let alone 4k games that would otherwise be able to push >30FPS if not for the cable bandwidth.
