Official Thread Rainbow Six | Siege

It sucks that games of this type are exclusively multiplayer focused now.

I get why that is. But I had a lot of fun with the old games' campaigns.
Agree. I personally don't have an issue with mp only games. I get it but isn't the idea then that devs have more time to give consumers more mp content for their $60. Unfortunatly the trend seems to be take away the sp but devs are not giving us added mp.

Is all that content part of season one or spread across the year. Four maps is good deal for a single season dlc but dud if its per each of the four seasons.

New modes...if the release a LMS mode I'll for sure buy.

Actually that's a good point. I THOUGHT it was 4 maps for each quarter but looking at the diagram now...lol I'm not so sure. Either way the game is ace.

I like that they are all useful. Except IQ. IQ sucks.

Agreed. But she does have a sweet selection of primary weapons you can choose from. At least that's something.

Blitz is pretty good but it sucks that he only has ONE hand gun and literally no other variation. I mean the only reason for these limitations I'm assuming is because they went with authenticity when it came to equipment for each special forces unit (Not certain, though!). Sure would have been nice if he could pack an Uzi!.

So does the retail version use dedicated servers now or is it still player hosted?
Why would the retail version be different from the digital in that sense? I don't know if that had ever happened, but that would be really bizarre and greedy if they are really trying to punish retail buyers like that. That is at least what I think.

I was talking about the beta vs the finished retail product.

Are dedicated servers even on consoles? I might have to pick this up if that is the case. Anyone have any idea on player populations on X1?

How is it playing with randoms? My fear for this (and most teamwork based games) is playing solo with randoms and getting curb stomped by others in parties.

It is a legitimate concern but its not so bad if you stay out of ranked.

I don't think you'll face population issues. I'm certain this game has sold quite well. Matchmaking on the PS4 literally happens within seconds (No more than 10 seconds). However I'm not sure whether it's a bug or just that loner players don't join but I noticed IF there are delays in matchmaking it is only when we're 1 person short. Like if it's just 1 player or pairs of two or three and five, I have never spent more than 10 seconds waiting for matchmaking. But at times when either teams are short on 1 person (As a fifth) then it may take a little while.

Teamwork is a must in this game. Without it you'll just get frustrated as f*ck. So if you do end up with a good team then just stick with them for the duration of the session! It's just luck I guess.

That's my big fear. As a solo player, I tend to end up on the team with other solo players, often against a group (at least on X1). That usually means frustration and less fun. At least in games like COD you can move around and avoid the idiots, but in a game like this you are literally stuck with your team.

Team work and mic communication makes a monumental difference in this game. Just simply knowing what the other team are playing is huge. Shields coming? Flank/C4 it up. Killed the Thermite? Reinforced walls are now 100% secure, etc etc. Hell, just having people wait a few seconds for you to setup makes a world of difference. That said, there is a role for lurkers and lone wolves. Having someone roam can be very effective, especially on defense. But even then if you don't have people to play with and communicate with you're gonna have some frustrating games.

I'm not sure if it is an Xbox thing or what, but so few people even bother to plug their mics in anymore :(

Even in games like Destiny there is zero communication.

In the beta for this people would knock down the defenses I just put up and not even respond as to why (probably was in a dumb spot)

I noticed that a lot of opponents usually take the same route they did with their drones to reach the target. It's very interesting. If you notice exactly where the drone enters from you can get a good idea on where to hide and wait for those guys.

Recently I've been using Pulse when defending and that's exactly what I do. I usually go one floor above (Or sometimes down) so I can provide good intel to my teammates and at the same time surprise enemies who decide to enter from any of the top floors. Very effective! I make sure I provide accurate intel through Mic or by Targeting the area of interest at least.

I'll only stay in a room if I feel it's safe enough. Castle to reinforce the windows and Mute to place Jammers on them. Bandit and Mute both to place jammers and them electric thingamajigs next to reinforced walls. With the right team you definitely can reinforce the sh!t out of the room (Depends on the room though). And it's delicious when you see the other team desperately try and penetrate!

I think that's cus everybody uses party chat now.

Same with PS4.

I've seen more communication on PC for games like battlefield and call of duty in the chat box, than actually voice chatter lately on console.

for me personally i dont use headset when playing alone just cause its just not comfortable

No matter what when I'm gaming, even playing a single player game, I always have my headset on. The sound is just so much better and immerses me more in the game.

Good impressions being posted here. I might pick this up if I see it on sale over Christmas.

So, I can get this for $45 (50 on sale at Best Buy and I have an extra 5 off). Should I get it? Does it seem like a game that is going to have legs or just be a flavor of the month?

Same here. I'll plug my headset in if people start talking but other than that.. I feel like i play better without it because my head is more comfortable, lol. Like, i don't need to discuss strategy. If you want to win, come with me.

Sorry, but people need to wear a mic during MP games that require any sort of teamwork. Get one that is more comfortable. I know you can use 360 headsets with an adapter. Not sure on PS but I think those all work too. Lots of good options out there (I do agree that the X1 default headset seems to be designed for the head of a 10 year old)

Anyway, I still haven't gotten this. I was reading about a ton of connection problems on their official forums, but they mostly seemed to be PC. I'd be on X1 as my PC is ancient. Anyone comment on stability, especially on X1? The game seems to pop up regularly on the X1 most played list, so people must be playing.

I've got no time to play this, but a bunch of gift cards burning a hole in my pocket.

Just got it for $50 digitally on X1. Any tips for the newb/lowbie? My big concern is it taking forever to level in the game.

You mean player level? That means nothing really, don't concern your self with it. Early on you're just gonna want to get renown (the currency). Get your self a decent balance of attack/defence operators and try to avoid Fuse and Kapkan as your early buys, they're good operators but they're popular and picked very quickly and require decent map knowledge to be used well. Good all rounders to get early would be Thermite, Ash, Sledge, Castle, Doc, Jager. Eventually you'll pick up most/all of them and you'll always have a class you like to play available in every round.

In-game, take it slow. To be blunt, it's not Call of Duty or Battlefield. Don't chase kills, that'll get you killed. On attack you ideally want stick with team mates but on attack you will often want to attack from multiple angles if the defenders have boxed the room off completely. On defense a person roaming can work wonders, but it can be a risky strategy. Also be aware of what your weapons strengths are. This mainly applies to whether you're using an SMG, shotgun or assault rifle but you wouldn't hit a barn door from across a building with a shotgun never mind a person, but up close and personal shotguns can be absolutely lethal.

A few things on operators: Thermite is pretty much a staple of any good attack, Ash is a very good all rounder who works well with Glaz. Though Glaz needs good positioning to be used to his full potential, he can score easy kills through open windows, breached walls and doors. Fuze can single handedly win a round but is very risky on hostage, Kapkan traps are easy to spot for experienced players, the Tachanka gun is powerful but has awkward placement, Doc is not that useful in multiplayer currently, IQ is pretty bad, Bandit for walls isn't worth it unless you only have 1-2 walls to do it with, but electrifying barb wire is one of the best ways to kill drones. Mute works wonders on stopping breaching from windows. Jager is under rated, shield classes are very difficult to get kills with but can be a big pain in the arse to kill, a Montagne with 1-2 in support with assault rifles can absolutely dominate. In short, there really isn't a "bad" class in the game except possibly IQ. They all work well together in different ways, and all have counters.

Thanks for the info. I've got a few classes unlocked. I was reading somewhere that it took forever to get weapons, but that isn't true. You can buy a few classes right away and get a few more easily. The shield classes are damn good.

I just need to learn the maps. I'm still shocked how many people in this game don't use a mic. I mean come on... communication is vital in this game.

Don't know why or where you heard that, weapons are exclusive to countries/operators you don't really unlock them.

Yeah not sure, probably someone with a DLC ax to grind. I heard tons of negatives about the game, but so far it has been great. That's what bugs me about gaming, there seems to be so much negativity. I heard people saying this was "just another COD", which is completely wrong. Anyone who tries to COD this game will get mowed down. So much stupid misinformation.

I really hope this game stays popular (I think it will). It offers a great alternative to other shooters out there.

A lot of the negativity came from the betas, which was a bit of a mess because of server issues. That and the lack of a SP campaign, but the multiplayer has seen a lot of love. I think it's done well over Christmas in terms of sales from word of mouth, the servers the past few days have been all over the place where as at launch they were pretty solid. It's also making a few surprise appearances on a lot of top 10 lists around the web.

Other than a few matchmaking issues when joining games, I haven't run into any real issues.

This game is really fun. I've had X1 since day 1 and honestly this is the only game where I've actually un-muted my mic.

I'm loving this game. Anyone who is still on the fence... this game is a blast. Best MP shooter for me this (last) year.

Shields seem OP though. I mean, what is this guy supposed to do?
