There is a cult like support of stream on PC.

Steam charged 30% loyalty as other platform owners (Apple, MS) without an actual platform! (its an app) until Epic forced they to lower. They never (still never) give out free games on their own etc, but epic which charges dev far less, as well as gives out free games & game asserts (no string attached) & people keep bashing it because it steal exclusives on stream.....
despite they can STILL play the game on their PC!!!!!!

To add insult to injury, Stream charges developers LESS for more profit they made. SO a struggling indie paid more in royalties (in %) then a big dev house like capcom!

MS/Xbox store just matched Epics 12% this week....I’m too lazy to search, I know someone posted it already, if I remember I’ll post it later.

When you release your game will it be on one of said platforms?

Probably steam and epic, or one. I have to see.

There seems to be some confusion about this, Activision said they aren't just a COD studio and it seems like the ones who were "laid off" were actually just people who's contracts had been up and wouldn't have anything to do right now. I do hope at some point they get to make a new Spyro game, something with an actual story to follow and maybe let him grow a bit and be able to really fly.

I put this up in the Boys season 2 thread but I'm guessing more people will see it here. This is just a mod obviously but it looks pretty awesome overall, would be cool to make great if someone actually made a game like this.

It’s reading for ants...

The game maybe technically ahead of others (according to them), & loved by critics & game journalists (which manes little these days, much like critics review of movies), its also VERY DIVISIVE among gamers who either love or hate it, unlike say Ghost of Tsushima, which is univerally loved.

The sheer amount of money hoarded by videogame executives is astounding, especially when you're constantly told that videogames are too expensive to make.
Bobby Kotick just "halved" his pay, but is still in line to make hundreds of millions of dollars on top of the billions he has, and CD Projekt RED's five board members just gave themselves enough money to cover over 800 people. The way in which this money is accumulated is often corrupt in and of itself.

Meanwhile, employees are abused and underpaid. Videogames cut more corners and add more predatory economies. We're told there's not enough money, but the truth is there's MORE than enough. It's just constantly sucked out of the industry by parasites.

Top executives being greedy & took lionshare all the money while treating low level workers as expanables are not new. Its unfornate same in mine. 2 tier system, the untouchable & the expendable.

They cut our pay (said corona) but when ask why ain't their pay being cut, our ex coe said their pay was decide by shareholders, also cutting top executives will made them go to other companies. the same CEO that tell us to be royal to the company.

This is the type of shi+, plus political corruption/self interest that lead so many (especially young) people to support communism/socialism. which is worse (we knew, 1/2 of germany & half of Europe were communist, if its that good, people will have protest to return) , but current politcal climate & corp greed are not helping for sure.

The problem is how profit is looked at now. Obviously, everyone wants to make money. The problem today is that the push for profit growth is insane. You'll see headlines about how "Company X missed their profit growth number". It sounds bad, but they actually still made tons of money, just not quite as much as was expected. It becomes a beast that can never be fed fully. I've seen companies treated as a failure because they "only" had 25% profit growth instead of the predicted 30%. They made 25% MORE than last year, but that's not enough. That's the mentality.

The other big trend and this is where things go off the rails - companies focus on the short term. Nobody wants to be the next iconic corporation that lasts 100+ years, they want to make a trillion dollars this quarter and who cares what happens next?

When a company focused on long term profits, they care about things like employees. They want and need employees to be productive long term. That means paying employees, giving them benefits so they want to work long term. Once they only care about the next quarter, all that goes out the window. Employees are just resources to be used up and spit out. Crack the whip, and if you aren't getting what you want, crack it harder!

If you're worked long enough in any industry you've probably worked for someone like this, but definitely in IT. The beatings will continue until morale improves!
Everyone gets into this short term mode, but it suddenly becomes permanent.

Stock has a lot to do with it. To make money is not enough, you need to grow in profit to please shareholders.
