Sad. Though I am not sure your point. Horrible things happened everywhere. The issue I mentioned was done on millions by the government.

Asians discrimination in school entry was widespread in US not individual case, include Havard and other major university.
The point is on my head :p

but in all seriousness the statement released by ms was to acknowledge the current environment here in the states.

Sadly, it’s been on the rise rather exponentially

a lot of the blame could be put on the form administration and those like minded ignorant/bigots

Honestly just watch the video attached

i have friends and family who’ve been targeted since last year

Uh, I think the stat is like 75% of those attacks are perpetuated by black and Arabic persons (not some boogey man white supremacists), and they apparently can't be racist, lol.

Beyond that China is a geopolitical foe and where the virus originated from (like the Spanish flu, right?), not a race. People acting like he was saying regular Chinese have some culpability are smooth-brain political opportunists.

I've seen lots of videos of those attacks and many look like pretty standard street crime, or those stupid knock out game trends.

Our overly racially sensitive society ascribes racism to everything. That said, I've also seen pretty racist attitudes in some videos too. I don't know why they are linked to Trumps accusational attitude toward China, as the language used didn't indicate anything of the sort. Wasn't whitey either.

I believe that the Atlanta shooters deal was something about him being a sex addict and he frequented parlors and in his mind he was trying to break that addiction or something. Wack job, and didn't only shoot Asians. It's not always about race.

Seekers point about descrimination in colleges is legit too.

The fact that he's white and the victims MOSTLY weren't seems to be all the info people (on social media) need to come to the conclusion that this was 100% about race. They totally ignore that the attacks also took place at massage parlors which are often fronts for sex trafficking where many women of Asian descent are forced into sex work against their will.

I don't know for a fact that these establishments were just fronts for that kind of business and I am not trying to assign blame to the victims at all nor do I have a problem with voluntary sex work but the fact that people can totally ignore his claim of sex addiction even though the actual establishments he attacked could easily be places where sex acts are performed for money is pathetic. If he had attacked an Asian church or an Asian owned business or hell just random Asian people on the street while ignoring everyone else I'd buy into the racism angle but that's not what happened.

Sadly 8 people lost their lives because of this lunatic and many will totally ignore his mental issues because that just comes across as an excuse to people online when it's used for white people.

Pretty much nailed it.

But I gave up reasoning with Americans. It's your country. You decide how it succeeds & fails.

I just call out BS virtual signalling when I see one.

On the subject of the company’s future products, she says: “Many players think of me as someone drawn by horror or the grotesque. It’s true in a way. However, one thing I’m aiming for is to stop making games too seriously.

“If I had to compare myself to a Marvel character, I would go with Deadpool, who’s left out of the Avengers. I want to make a game full of dark jokes. I wish I could tell you more.”

Xbox executive Sarah Bond has shared some new data about Xbox Game Pass that illuminates some of trends and behaviors of subscribers. She told Forbesthat Game Pass subscribers tend to play more games overall, and--very importantly for Xbox and its partners--spend more money.

Bond said Game Pass users:

  • Spend 20% more time playing games
  • Play 30% more games
  • Play 40% more genres
  • Spend 20% more money on gaming overall
Also in the interview, Bond said Game Pass has a different value proposition compared to a video streaming service like Netflix because Game Pass leads to even further ways to spend money.

"When you subscribe to a channel that enables you to watch a video, like Netflix, that's kind of the end of the monetization cycle that you have with that piece of content," she said. "In gaming it's the opposite: there are items that you can buy in the game, there are extensions you can buy, there's a next franchise you can purchase, there are other genres that you can leap to."

Bond also mentioned that Microsoft is pushing its xCloud streaming service because the overwhelming majority of people who play games don't have a console, so streaming helps reach people who might only have a phone or who have no desire to play on console/PC.

"There are 200 million people who buy a console, and there are 3 billion people who play games," Bond said. "Today, a lot of those people don't have the option to play many of these amazing experiences and iconic games that you see. When you really look at what we're doing with Game Pass is we're making that possible by linking that to subscription, and putting our streaming into subscription. We're able to make the economics of all that work."

Xbox Game Pass had 18 million subscribers as of January 2021. The catalog grows each month with additional titles, including 20 from Bethesda that arrived this month after Microsoft's $7.5 billion acquisition of ZeniMax. The former Nintendo Switch-exclusive Octopath Traveler is coming on March 25. For more, check out all the games coming to and leaving Game Pass in March.

In addition to older back-catalog games, Xbox Game Pass features first-party games that release into the program day-and-date, which means subscribers can play Halo Infinite this fall at no extra cost.

Are they saying they spend 20% more than they did before? Cause pretty irrelevant otherwise.

From my own trend, my spending has dropped massively cause I just wait for a lot of games to hit gamepass now.

I feel like my spending has dropped over all but I am still inclined to pick up games when I see them on sale (that are not yet in Gamepass). My only burn so far has been Desperados. It appeared in GP about a month after I picked it up for half price. I've certainly got to play some great games I would have never bought.

I just don't see the point in buying anymore unless its main draw is multiplayer or is a huge game like GTA.

Makes me wonder if Gamepass really is a good thing for the industry.

I can honestly say that I stopped buying games once or twice a month to once every 6 months or so if that, so if anything Game Pass has me paying more money.

Though I always buy my subscription at a discount when I can. Don't think I've paid more than like $25 for a three month subscription in a long time. Good till at least November I think?

There some games I will always buy - Souls/Bourne for example. If I'm still heavily invested in Outriders when it moves out of GP - i'll buy that then aswell.

While its it might not be a good thing it's not a bad thing certainly if those Xbox stats are to be believed.

Nice thing about Game Pass if you still enjoy Outriders is that discount they offer. Great value.

Those stats have no context, though.

No surprise there. Most stats that get presented to the public from companies are done like this. They are not looking for peer reviewed financial performance metrics here.
No. But you said "if the stats are to be believed" it is a good thing. There is nothing there to base that conclusion on was my point.

Honestly, pre Game Pass, I purchased on average about 2 games a year for an average of $100-120 a year. I’m spending $15 a month over a year on Game Pass for $180 a year. In that sense, they have been making more money from me just based on my subscription.

My game buying on XB has went way down in the last year or so. I only buy a couple big games a year and I quit buying a lot of games on sale like I did. With my backlog and always something new to play on GP I can barely keep up.

Better MS than CCP-cents "don't be evil, thats our job" google I guess. I rather more films stayed independence.

Jordon Peterson said this very well. He rather corporation be greedy (MS) than being "virtuous" (google). Nothing is more scary then someone in power used the term" for the greater good" "we are here to protect you"
