This game could be good but I fear the best part will be when on the ship, what fun stuff will be happening on land? How big is the world?

Recore looked interesting.

The Recore video was a good start. For me, I'll want to see actual in game video and gameplay before I'll be able to tell if its a game I will want.

As for Sea of Thieves...its probably a super early build, but, the game just didn't really excite me all that much.

probably the most realistic water I've ever seen in any game. that really blew me away.
Did you pay attention to the rushing water and the avalanche in the Tomb Raider gameplay?

here is the water in the trailer. Really impressive.

Ohh yea. That game was a jaw dropper for me . we all have different opinions on WOW factor graphics but imo I felt that Microsoft brought it for sure. Also I'm really stoked about the new game from rare . this is probably one of my most anticipated titles from the show.

A must buy for me. Can't wait to crew a pirate ship with my friends. As I watched the trailer I thought please tell me I can crew a ship with my buddies. It didn't disappoint. Rare back with a bang.

The water looks absolutely amazing, holy goddamn cow. The rest,...looked good. The animations of the characters clearly needs a lot of work, didn't look too impressive. But it seems this is first person?

Well, according to their press release, this game is holiday 2016. My guess is that this gets a big push along with Gears 4, Scalebound, and Crackdown for the holiday next year.

For those who don't know. Sea of Thieves is actually a reimagining of an old concept that Rare was trying to get made originally on the SNES and then the N64 called "Project Dream", which would eventually become Banjo and Kazooie

The only known screenshot of Project Dream (Nintendo 64 version), featuring Edison

Project Dream was an unreleased RPG video game that was originally to be developed for the Super NES, but was moved to the Nintendo 64. It was eventually redeveloped into what is now Banjo-Kazooie.

Development
Project Dream started out in 1994-1995 as a seafaring RPG for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, with the intent of being Rareware's masterpiece on the console, using the ACM (Advanced Computer Modeling) technique of bitmapping pre-rendered graphics, much like the Donkey Kong Country series.

There was a demo of the SNES version with a full introduction sequence and one level, and according to composer Grant Kirkhope, if it still exists, it may be locked away somewhere at Rare's headquarters. Mr. Kirkhope had also commented this on the demo, "I was blown away. It looked beautiful and a step up above the Donkey Kong Country games."

At one point during development, it was determined that Dream was too big a game for the SNES to handle, so it was moved to the Nintendo 64DD, to be redeveloped as a 3D RPG in the style of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (which was first shown at Nintendo Space World in December 1995), featuring a unique 3D terrain system with environments created by stretching out the polygons.

However, the Nintendo 64 lacked the processing power needed to maintain these types of environments at a steady frame rate. Taking inspiration from Twelve Tales: Conker 64 (which was being developed by the Killer Instinct team, and would eventually become the adult-oriented Conker's Bad Fur Day), along with Rareware's previous experience with platforming games, Dream was remade by the development team (whose members had also worked on Donkey Kong Country) into a 3D platformer in the vein of Super Mario 64, but kept some of the elements of the RPG.

After deeming the game's main protagonist, Edison, to be too "generic", Rare began to experiment with several woodland characters that had previously been secondary characters, including "a dopey dog, a rabbit that looked like a man, and a bear." That bear character would eventually become Banjo.

Eventually, Dream was scrapped, and the development team started over from scratch, creating Banjo-Kazooie.

However, eventually Project Dream would be used as a inspiration for Rares newly announced game Sea of Thieves, revealed at the E3 2015.

When you think about it all the teasing that Phil Spencer was supposedly doing for Banjo was this the whole time.
Spencer says it's a game Rare always wanted to make
MS heads say its really exciting and a proper "old school" Rare game they are really proud of
Ex Rare guys at Playlogic voice their excitement for the project and even said they may collaborate with Rare on it.
Tim Stamper doing all those teases with project Dream prototypes
Not to mention this game is Greg Mayles's( Banjo n Kazooie) project

Treasure hunting and looting I would hope.

Causing havok. You are a pirate lol.

Somebody decided to let Rare be Rare again instead of chaining them to Kinect and helping other teams in house to get their games right? Fanfreakingtastic! Nuts and Bolts still has some of the best texture work of the last generation.

Can't wait to actually play this. Look at that water!

Got a while then. Oh well, hope it ends up great.

This game looks fun as hell. I am wondering if MS has too many exclusives for 2016 already.

To think at the end of E3 Spencer said that they have more first party stuff (besides Crackdown , Scalebound and Quantum Break) to show. Maybe some stuff gets delayed but i am hoping this is MS spreading their big titles throughout the year instead of just jamming everything into the fall. Stuff like Recore and Scalebound would likely do better at the top of the year, spring or summer, rather than running into big releases like Gears and the next COD in the fall.

Sea of Thieves looks like the Rare game we have all been looking for since Perfect Dark on the N64........ to me it is anyway.........Cannot wait to see more of this to be honest!
