I liked the game and I love the look of it but I can't stand some people that play it. For example, if I'm with a crew and we have a galleon I usually dont mess with people who are on a single boat as I think they are just trying the game out and want to be left alone or trying to find treasure. That's what I'm doing when I'm by myself but I always run into a******s. It's hard enough dealing with ghost ships, a kraken or a megladon. Or if I join a crew only to be thrown in the brig for no reason so I'm like screw this.
Pro tip. I've discovered that if you don't have another friend to play the game with, you can pick a Sloop with play-type locked. Then pick your quest, gear-up and next open the play type on your way to your first mission. You will only get 1 other teammate on the sloop, which is enough for steering and canons if you choose to battle. It sinks slower, and if goes faster up-wind, if you don't want to engage. If they leave, you can still manage the ship alone. You can open or close the play-type at will!

And there's enough real story content to keep you busy? I was always under the impression sea of thieves was kind of a make your own story kind of game which is much easier with a group.
I still make my own story solo. I can also record events, if I choose.

Notice that I did say "a lot less". :) There's definitely been much more that has been sort of bolted-on than reworked. I did play the technical alpha a tad bit, then the beta. Yeah, sometimes ships and megs do some weird stuff, even still. I've seen plenty of flying Dutchman videos, as well.

Crazy to think though, that there was a time when harpoons, row boats, fillable chests, and collapsible masts simply didn't exist. And that's scratching the surface. Throwable bombs are so handy, if I can remember that they are a thing. (and I know they've been around for a while, but I sometimes still forget they were added when I'm in the heat of battle)

Another thing that Rare can't seem to tackle is getting hit detection consistent, they made several attempts at improvements but I have seen 0 improvement. It's been REALLY bad

Yeah, I've see some videos where only 1 direct hit out of several seem to count. I've had a few wonky moments, but not terrible. I'm wondering if more people on 60fps will make this better, overall.

Doubt it. I see bad hit detection every single day in my own gameplay and also on twitch.

First Sea of Thieves video I click on today and the first 30 seconds is them getting robbed by bad hit detection. This is inexcusable

Yepp, this game has evolved almost as far as NMS, I would still like a better progression system... Not sure how to do that though without alienating noobs

I actually just read this article. Pretty cool writeup!

"According to Neate, Chapman and Priore, it’s a secret that they’ve keep under their hats since E3 2019, when Rare first brought their idea to Disney."

"“That first meeting, Mike and I walked out and literally, when we got around the corner — we made sure we were out of eyeshot — we literally put our arms around each other and said, ‘we’re gonna do something special here,’ just from spending 45 minutes in a room with the team at Disney,” Neate recalls."
