Prob true, but considering MS sell XSS as a 1440p machine I find it strange that they didn't go for that as a first party game.

These machine are really more of a "up to", the resolutions are controlled by the devs not by MS. They can use the horsepower in whatever way they see fit,

Surely, I'm with you on that, but it just seems like a missed opportunity to show what they hype as it's their own developer idk

11m in 1 year.. more than most games get in a lifetime

11m unique players played SoT in this year
- Steam saw 1 million new players within a month. Also from alot of new countries. Korea and China were big factors
- Playerbase is now 50/50 between PC and Xbox
- Arena will be supported. But wont get big updates anymore
- Been doing monthly updates since July 2019. Seasons will start in January and will last arround 3 months
-Every 3 months a big content update and during the season events, patches etc
- New Season progression system. Biggest change to progression since launch
- 100 levels and series of Pirate trials giving rewards. Shorter sessions possible even without finishing and still moves you forward. Progress moves forward outside of trading companies also.
- Premium pass called Plunder Pass with extra rewards you get during the 100 levels
- Each month a featured live event
- New merchant. Detective

If you have played this game since the beginning or before it's actual beginning the frequency of updates has been getting lower and lower. At first they were doing weekly updates, then bi weekly, then monthly, and now moving to what seems to be every 3 months.

Yet you still find people claiming that the game is some kind of disaster from MS/Rare because they refuse to acknowledge that the game was made to grow in depth and scope, and has maintained a pretty large following. If the review system wasn't broken for this type of game, it would be getting more acclaim, too. It deserves more notoriety for the sheer scale of what it does, IMO.

They have a lot less bug fixing now. (Not that they will ever all be gone with this type of game) I think that every 2-3 months for seasonal updates is perfect. Those are usually pretty big story/world changes. I was missing out on a lot of content because I don't have a ton of time to spend grinding every week.

I'll definitely jump back in when they make a real progression system, got tiresome to only get cosmetics for all your earned treasures.
That's a weird way to just say that you won't pick up the game again.

Wut?

There are still bugs in the game that have been there since the technical alpha. lol.

Notice that I did say "a lot less". :) There's definitely been much more that has been sort of bolted-on than reworked. I did play the technical alpha a tad bit, then the beta. Yeah, sometimes ships and megs do some weird stuff, even still. I've seen plenty of flying Dutchman videos, as well.

Crazy to think though, that there was a time when harpoons, row boats, fillable chests, and collapsible masts simply didn't exist. And that's scratching the surface. Throwable bombs are so handy, if I can remember that they are a thing. (and I know they've been around for a while, but I sometimes still forget they were added when I'm in the heat of battle)

Sorry, but I've still don't think they mean anything but cosmetics. The game has a solid foundation where anyone can play at the same level, from noob to Pirate Legend, and beyond. There's no way they can change that, nor should they, IMO. You still learn natural skill by playing more, though. There's so much to learn that this knowledge IS like leveling up! Things like the Sloop being the fastest into a headwind or a Galeon being the fastest in a tailwind, memorizing the islands on the map, knowing how to use the harpoon to snatch items and teammates, what is worth more to you to quest for, etc. There's no need to have increased defense or HP. You just have to learn "the ropes", as they say. Knowledge really is power in this game.

That's too bad.

The only thing that worries me about this game is whether or not I could have fun by myself.

I would still like them to release a story expansion

For a little while but really it needs a single player expansion for that

I play solo for 90% of my play time.
And there's enough real story content to keep you busy? I was always under the impression sea of thieves was kind of a make your own story kind of game which is much easier with a group.

I liked the game and I love the look of it but I can't stand some people that play it. For example, if I'm with a crew and we have a galleon I usually dont mess with people who are on a single boat as I think they are just trying the game out and want to be left alone or trying to find treasure. That's what I'm doing when I'm by myself but I always run into a******s. It's hard enough dealing with ghost ships, a kraken or a megladon. Or if I join a crew only to be thrown in the brig for no reason so I'm like screw this.
