Official Thread ReCore: Definitive Edition

This game has me really interested. Can't wait for more info.

This is going to be good! This interview made me hype as f*** for this..way more than the trailer. Can't wait to hear and hopefully see more at Gamescom. You've got the creator of Megaman and the ex-team of Metroid Prime games working on a completely new franchise. What's not to love?

Exactly man. A proper gameplay reveal during Gamescom, so we get an indication what this is all about and then that would be enough if you ask me, i cannot build excitement for a CG trailer, i need an indication of gameplay. The concept is awesome, the robot is really damn cool, just like Kejij Inafune i really like robots as well. You can really see that the guy behind Mega Man is behind this, and that's awesome. But it's also apparently only 14 months into development, Spring 2016 sounds too early. I'd really like them to delay this, give this project enough time to develop into a real AAA game. 2016 is full of awesome games already, a delay would be moe than fine.

Well by the time this releases they would have had 2 + years of dev time under their belt, really interested in seeing gameplay. According to this

ReCore puts players in the shoes of Joule, one of the last humans on earth years after artificial superintelligence has wiped out most of the population. These robot overlords still roam the land, but they aren't all bad. The action-adventure game will have you meet and befriend several robot companions over the course of the story who will aid you in your quest to save humanity. A joint effort from Keiji Inafune and Armature Studios, the game hopes to marry " tried-and-true action-adventure gameplay with incredible visuals, a unique art style and an emotionally engaging story." In the debut trailer we see Joule upload her dog-like companion's consciousness into a new body, hinting at a gameplay feature and the multitude of different companions you'll meet along the way. Inafune and Armature, the creators of Metroid Prime, are combining their own rich histories in the industry to blend combat and exploration of the story's unique setting.

It would imply they are going AAA with this. I wouldn't be surprised if it ran on UE4 ( MS luvs them some Unreal engine) and i would guess not having to build a proprietary engine would free up some resources and time.

Presenting ReCore an XBOX ONE EXCLUSIVE from the legendary creator Keiji Inafune and the makers of Metroid Prime. As one of the last remaining humans, forge friendships with courageous robot companions and lead them on an epic adventure through a mysterious, dynamic world. For now, the game has a release window of spring of next year, coming exclusively to Xbox One.

From the legendary creator Keiji Inafune and the makers of Metroid Prime comes “ReCore”, an action-adventure masterfully crafted for a new generation.

As one of the last remaining humans on a planet controlled by robotic foes bent on your destruction, you must forge friendships with a courageous group of robot companions, each with unique abilities and powers. Lead this band of unlikely heroes on an epic adventure through a mysterious, dynamic world. You can’t save mankind alone.

Keiji Inafune: I’m extremely pleased to be able to announce ReCore today, which is a game about my favorite kind of robots. Sometimes they’re brave heroes, other times they can be humorous companions. In fact, they can be even your most loyal friends.

As you adventure through the mysterious world of ReCore, you’ll learn what makes these robots uniquely charming and powerful. I’m eager to know how all of you will feel after interacting with these robots. And I hope the game will be a fun and endearing experience for you.

Mark Pacini: Everyone at Armature Studio is really happy to invite all of you into the world of ReCore and hope we’ve created characters you’ll love to spend time with.

In the months ahead, we’ll be sharing a lot more about ReCore’s gameplay and other features. We hope you’ll agree that ReCore is an innovative take on the classic action-adventure — a genre that is dear to our gaming hearts. So please stay tuned to this community site and ReCore’s other social channels.

Let the adventure begin!

I am interested. Looking forward to hearing more, and hopefully, seeing more at Gamescom.

Hoping for good things with this game but like most game announcements, I'll wait until I see some actual gameplay before I'll get excited for it.

That looked really cool. Interesting concept with the robots.

This game seems really interesting. Hope it turns out well.

I think it looks cool. Could see it being a tear jerker. I already feel for that little ball of light.

Definitely want to see more on this one with Retro being involved. I love the Prime series.

It's not Retro, but some people who left there after the Prime Trilogy. I don't know enough to say whether they were the heart and soul of the series, just a couple of guys who have Prime on their resumes, or something in between. In any case, though, the game definitely warrants my attention.

So I guess this game has been in development for 14 months according to Phil in an interview with I think it was Giant Bomb and comes out in the spring. That seems like a really short development period.

I thought the trailer was interesting. Wish we got to see some game play though. I hope it turns out amazing.

Since when has 2 years been a short dev period?

For a AAA game, which I think many expected/hoped this would be, 2 years has been a short dev period for about 15 - 20 years now.

Looks at the releases of games, laughs.

You do realize when companies state a 4-5 year dev cycle, they mean from concept brainstorming to finished product, right? Those games also tend to have a highly modified engine or one built from scratch.

Anyway, all this is moot. Lets wait till Gamescom, where it seems we will get play.

Sooooo just under two years isn't a short development time for a brand new AAA IP? I'm confused.

I don't get what the angst for the development duration is about. The project is in capable hands. I don't think any of them would want to ship the game until they were satisfied with their work. If they need more time they will. It happens all the time. Most E3 reveal trailers hold tentative release dates anyways.

Vice City done in 2 years. not all games need several years in development to be good and maybe we should oh I don't know wait till we see actual gameplay??

Nah, someone needs to find some little morsel to discount Xbox exclusives. Look at the source of the concern.
