I can't get into the hunting. Last night I spent about an hour looking for a 3 star Buck to craft the first satchel upgrade and came up empty. It just felt like a waste of time. I'd rather spend my time shooting people. The glacial pace of this game in some ways hurts it for me. Last night was the first time I was bored and I think it was because I was doing something I'm not really into. And the realistic death cries of the digital wildlife do very little to get me to do more hunting. I've read the game can be played to completion without the need for much hunting so I think that's the route I'll take going forward. I'm just such a wuss for animals even if they are not real.

Use the binoculars on them to see their condition before hand

Have I lost these missions from chapter 3? (Now on chapter 4)

the true love missions. I've done 3 of them and not seen either character again and basically just wiped out one side

That the Romeo and Juliet one? That continues a good bit later.

Fence make the trinkets but i can't interact with the trappers either

Yep, but the trapper makes the gear which is way better. I'm not sure how far a long i was before I tried a fence but I was in Rhodes at least. The first time I used the trapper it was at his stall in the wilderness and a fight broke out near him and I had to wait and come back.

Yep, or any scoped rifle. Beyond that check the compendium to see what kind of weapons you have to use to get a clean kill on the animal. You also have to hit it in the right spot to not damage the pelt (usually head or neck). If it's not a clean kill, you can't get 3 stars. Using eagle eye also shows the kill spots in red.

Also, get the legendary buck and then buy the trinket you make from it from the fence. It upgrades the quality of the pelts you collect.

It's number 5.

You do both. Get the trinket from the fence and clothes from the trapper

Just start calling animals "monsters", and pretend you're playing Monster Hunter. What's your innocent creature genocide count in that game? ;)

I'll have to stop gaming if/when I ever finish this because nothing will come close for a very long time.

I hear that. It's killed my interest in AC Odyssey (which I think is a great game over all). It just looks like crap when compared to RDR2 and it's a very good looking game.

Now that I'm almost finished I'd have to say this game is right there with God of War as my game of the generation, both games told great stories and gave us time to get to care about the characters.

I was at level 19 in AC: O and haven't touched it since this came out. I'll eventually get back to it, but it will be disappointing to play.

I just finished the main story and wow what a great game. Most fun I've had in a single player campaign in years.

Just finished it and loved it but damn I want some Charles story expansion DLC NOW lol.

If the PS5 does come next year I wonder if they'll be able to improve a backwards compatible version of this game or if they'll do a GTAV style re-release?

Oh, it's R*, It'll be a re-release, lol, but they'd have to do a lot more work to upgrade this one over the X version (no option to sell on a rez increase), so maybe. Honestly, There isn't much they could do outside of unlocking framerate and maybe increasing distant LODs and shadows, but it all works so well as is, it wouldn't amount to a very substantial difference. Maybe higher sampling in the clouds? Honestly, I'm very interested to see what the PC version brings to the table outside of frame-rate increases...

They could do quite a few things, the water needs to be improved especially how it responds to movement as well as the quality of the reflections as the surface overall just looks kind of dull, the clouds need to be higher res, I still see shadows drawing in fairly close at times, grass could be denser and if it's a re-release they'll probably upgrade the models etc. Also it is native 4K on the One X but it doesn't look terribly sharp all of the time so maybe an improved AA method to take some of that softness away, also they could improve the texture quality. It's a beautiful game but don't fool yourself into thinking there aren't a lot of areas that can be improved if they get an extra 4-5TF of power to play with. I was looking at Sadie's horse last night and while the model is built well the texture on it is terrible.

I agree there's lots to improve in a rerelease and PC version. Rockstar said they have enough fresh ideas to keep GTA going for 40 years. Some of those should transfer to RDR. They need to add GTA V's video/picture editing feature. If VR is a big part of next gen, I would expect a VR compatibility. The online player count is 32 players and should be upped. Ability to tweak controls response time and slow the day/night cycle. They created textures for locations in Mexico, maybe expand the map and add RDR1 DLC as was rumored. Hoping they do some of this stuff with the current version and surprise us further with the rerelease.

I was thinking in a cost-benefit sort of way. Something you could come back and ask people to buy all over again. The loss of a resolution bump is much larger than some denser grass when the existing grass is plenty dense. It's not like the image isn't very cohesive. Not much other than some LOD and shadow draw distance. I think the most notable would be clouds and you could go with higher res textures, but it's still not going to be a jump like GTA 5 did unless they really rework some systems or assets.

The water moves very well, and they could maybe roll with a higher end Screen space solution... Now, if they implement some ray-tracing..... well, that's another story...

The water is strange, I know it depends on if it's a lake or a river but sometimes the water doesn't react very well to the player going through it and larger bodies of water don't look very good when you aren't right up next to them.

Also if you are going to have a GPU that's nearly twice as powerful as what's in the One X there is the potential fort 4K plus a lot of visual upgrades. Of course it all depends on what's going to go into it, they did a lot or work on GTAV from the original versions to the re-releases and the same could be done here.

I'm trying to figure out why the slow, deliberate, and highly detailed nature of the animation helps make this game so wonderful to play, yet if a game like Assassin's Creed takes more than a half-second to loot a treasure chest, I'm super annoyed.

I think 60fps will be the big bulletin point for a remaster along with a VR option.

I'm obsessed with this game.

It's deer hunting season where I live right now. Whenever I hear more than 1 shot, I think about how they probably won't have a 3 star pelt.
